#2 - Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler!

I just reread my previous post and realized that it made no sense. My mind went places that my fingers typing did not follow....I was saying that I was reading TKR (The Kite Runner) on the bus to and from work. Then I started talking about what makes someone writing erotic fiction publishable..

TKR is NOT erotic fiction.

I was thinking about a fluff paperback I bought that has 6 short erotic romps in it by 'best selling' authors...and I was thinking how I've read better stuff online on EAYOR and CV...

blah blah

had nothing to do with TKR...only with my sometimes wonky neuron synapses in the old Muski brain...heh...

carry on...

So, muskifest, you and Kenny don't fly kites and then go and make porn on a bus? Glad you cleared that up. B)

Here is a youtube link of the Kinks delivering my current message to Clay. Sigh.

:09:

There has to be news this week, right? I don't think we've ever had such a long period without a new TV appearance of some sort. I need to hear his voice again.

I remember the kinks - they sang rock, right? heh. My jaded youth.

I just got called for jury duty and I am thinking how nice that the album won't be out then.  Weird.

Didn;t somebody else almost got jury duty? Was that ldyjocelyn?

Well depends on when you will be on jury...could very well still be quiet in Clay fandom.

I wonder what Clay will blog about this week...will he recommend some new TV show? a movie perhaps.... <_<

Pshaw, I get Jury duty every 3 years. It is just petit, not like Fear who got grand jury.

It is next month, so I must assume the album will not be out then. I will probably be in NC in 3 weeks as well, so no action then either.

Summer is coming. If you don't hear from me for weeks at a time, Iwill probably be down at the beach. You only get 1/2 hour of computer time a day in the library which is 1/2 hour away from my house.

I really need to get my butt in gear and get my old computers fixed so I can hook up at the beach. That should be when the real action is!

Didn't the Kinks sing

Girl...you really got me going..

You got me going so I don't know

Yeah, you really got me now

You got me so bad ....blah blah blah\

YEAHH you really got me going...etc.

Ah, yes. Those were the days when lyrics were the most important part of a hit song. <_<

Hey, lyrics were important - I wanna hold your hand had great lyrics.

I have to finish my taxes, I have been dwaddling, so I can get back to serious Clay attention. Good thing nothing is happening. See, Clay was probably trying to let us catch up on stuff before the rush!

Yep, it was me who almost made it into a jury. It was my first time in 5 years for being called. Personally, I think it would be cool to be on a coroner's jury -- one day a month for a year, or something like that. It might be a sad jury to be on, but I think it could also be fascinating.

playbiller, is your library THAT strict on computer usage? At my old public library, it was an hour limit, and if no one was waiting, you could continue on.

I'm still loving that Clay recommended a book to us -- did my librarian heart good. I'm not sure if he'll recommend a movie or TV show to us, though...unless it's a rerun of Scrubs. *g*

I miss Clay, I really do...and yet I want him to be happily working on whatever projects he has in the pipeline. If it doesn't involve me, so be it. I'm patient. I think. Maybe. Kinda. Sorta.

Mommie...

Ditto ldyjocelyn...on one hand I would just like to be patient and forget the fact that we haven;t seen Clay or heard a new song for awhile...just hoping that he is doing some work that feeds his artistic soul...but deep down inside....

its getting so difficult to wait...sniff...

WARNING WARNING You tube issues

There are the following issues causing things to be cancelled, etc.

There is a new member posting inapproriate comments on Clay videos- duh Action is to block that person from your videos and to delete their comments

There is someone flagging Clay videos as "adult" causing you to have to be a member over 18 to view the video. I have my suspicions - this has been going on for 6 weeks or so

There is someone flagging video as copyright infringement - interesting the choices they make. Latest one was the Rollinstone video where Clay has to say that Ruben was too busy, but not the Rollingstone one where the editor states that he wanted Clay because he was interesting - actually 3 have been flagged under one user and they were all news reports with Ruben in them.

Fan rivalries never die.

A sort of another warning - a certain slime bal (or a pretend him) has started to post threats on easy to access Clay boards. Be aware, he might be coming to one of yours soon. I have a post in to the mod of one to delete his posts, they may not do that, they may want to keep them as proof of something.

It seems that the June 20th CD release date is getting some support, and we are starting to get hints about it from various sources. I am almost willing to very lightly pencil it onto my calender.

So, how 'bout a quick blog about the date? :glare:

And just because everybody needs their 5 servings a day of fruit and vegetables. :nanas::dancingpickle:

I am really getting reluctant to post speculations about the CD because it seems to be defying all my past predictions...but one last time I will try to make sense of whats happening on the CD front.

I do believe Clay has been busy working on this CD all year last year as he has said.

I do believe that he presented a CD to the label that may not be very commercial or that veered too far from his expected tyle and sound style. So the label persuaded Clay to put in some covers and use a love song theme to make it more marketable...and to reach a compromise.

So Clay goes back to the studio to add some songs...however...after the disastrous production value of MOAM...Clay is now determined to do the additional songs right, to make the production better that is why it is taking longer than they expected. I suspect the label thought they can rush Clay in the studio and bring out another haphazard product similar to BO's cd and MOAM...but Clay has more experience now and has a better feel of the sound he wants to have so he fights for a better product...thus the former MAY date gets pushed further back. I also think Clay may refuse to start promoting the CD as a way to pressure the label to give him more of the songs he wants. SO he is waiting until the last possible minute to actually talk about the CD.

Now if the release date is June 20, I think he has until the end of April to say something about it. If they start the promo then they have 7 weeks to promote a single in radio and TV. He can even make an AI appearance...maybe on the Idols week. Its very possible that although we don't have any news now...that Roger is busy putting magazine features and TV appearances in place. Usually we would hear about them by now but as I said...maybe Clay is playing chicken with RCA to get what he wants for the CD so OFC is not putting out any news.

So I would expect CD news to come out this week up to end of April for a June 20 release date...of course the earlier, the better...

Interesting Playbiller..and how does one go about getting something unflagged because that's clearly not something only an 18 year old can read.

I hope we get a release date soon. I'm going to do like bottlecap and pencil in lightly June 20th but I'm not set on it. If it's going to come out in the fall just tell me already.

How will Clay's album do? I think Clay selling at least 300K first week is a peice of cake. I mean, he sold 270K of a Xmas album when most of his pub was about a book. So with a lot of different kinds of publcity, and I can't imgaine that magazines aren't chomping at the bit to interview Clay right now, he should do fine and definitely be a top seller whenever it comes out. I think doing the morning shows and late shows go with out saying as do all the crappy entertainment shows. I think a lot of people have forgotten what all that is like.

oh and Playbiller I doubt we'll get messed with in our tiny corner of Clay Nation but please, any mod with edit power...if we get trolls, feel free not to delete, but have fun with the power of the edit. I am mesmerized by the power of the Aiken. I spend all day and night thinking of him, dreaming of him. Something like that will do.

Ah, Couchie wants to try the KCE vengence of rearranging a post?

You can't get a video unflagged anymore than you can say that a video is not a copyright infringement - I had them take a video where the video person gave permission flagged and it bounced me out of the site with 3 infringements - I can't even get to the message board that I own there, which means no editing.

Clay interviewing, I wonder when he will get his next break? I wexpect him to be working like a dog fir the next year, heh, heh. He can't ignore all parts of the country now, this had better be a long tour. Although, being in the east coast, I can see why he likes to perform here, he sells so well. Despite the pollstar figures, I went to 5 JBTs last year and they all sold out, and only 1 reported to pollstar and that one did not count the extra 500 tickets they decided to sell at the last minute overselling the venue.

Hee...great idea couchie...and I guess we do have creative mods around here... :D

I am anticipating a long tour for Clay too...and I hope he goes international. I am hoping he tries to go to a lot more cities here in Canada...some big name artists even went to my section of Canada, here in the maritimes...and we are not far from New England so it can fit seamlessly to the east coast part of his tour.

I also think he will be big in Asia so I hope they get to release the CD there...

FYI, from clayoradoan at CV regarding membership renewals at the OFC:

I did contact Clique.

"Our records indicate that your account is set to expire on 6/28/06.

At this time we do not have a renewal option available. We will have that option very soon and will notify all members that have an account set to expire in June via email, prior to their expiration date."

Asked if there would be special promos for the renewals  but did not get an answer!

OY!<_< What is so ding-danged difficult about all this? How long has this site been up? (smut oppty. there B) )...shouldn't this have been figured out BEFORE they solicited people for memberships? Am I just being bitchy? Have I caught jemock's speculatin' disease? Should I stop now and go to bed?

Say goodnight, muski...

I don't see what the big deal is. Membership isn't ready for renewals yet, they have a couple months to decide what they want to do second year. I think the majority of the memberships will expire at the same time as the first couple months of sign-ups the fan club wasn't really launched. I wonder how many emails they get like that a day. I mean do people really need 2 months to decide if they're going to re-up. With all the bitching and complaining I see about the club I would think it's a no brainer of a decision for everyone already and it's one already made.

My fondest wish is that they drop the price (because I don't see them sending out new tshirts etc), take weekly out of the blogs (which has become some sort of rallying cry), and get rid of the message board which is a joke IMO.

Just tell me when to send my money. I need 2 seconds notice. It was the best and easiest $35 I've ever spent in this fandom.

Glares at spare concert tickets and other assorted oddities in Clay box.

They do say SOON but not QUITE soon. hee. My only regret that I will no longer be the first to whip out the credit card because I'm rarely online during the day anymore. I do understand that Clay fandom seems to be on hold in just about every corner right now.

Hee. Maybe it won't be Clique running the fan club next time around. :glare:

So, in general, I found AI to be disappointing last night. The contestants were bad, but not as entertainingly bad as I had hoped they would be. Well, except for poor clueless Ace. And maybe the Buckster. Either one could be the subject of what I hope is tonight's group sing: "Another One Bites the Dust".

I really am not surprised about the email they got from Clique....I do believe changes are needed and I suspect if such changes are in the works it will all be revealed when they are good and ready.

Bottlecap is right...they may even lose this account...so the only thing they can tell us us when renewal is due. I'm sure we will know whats up when the time gets near.

I have a feeling a new improved site will be launched in the same time frame as Clay;s CD release. I wouldn;t be surprised if the changes will be announced in the same time as the single promo.

I know we are impatient but June is still some 8 weeks away...as long as they are already doin the planning in the background that we are not privy to...then they have lots of time for launching.

I will have to disagree with dear couchie on what I want from the OFC..

>I think Clay should continue to Blog...but lose the weekly promise, its not realistic.

>I dont go to the OFC message board but I think it is invaluable in letting people feel like they are in touch with Clay. TC really don;t have to read it...but at least the fans have a place to vent or bring suggestions. It could be a very contentious place and can breed all kinds of kooky characters but...that is part of the Clay fandom persona...can't really take that away, I just stay away.

>It would be nice if the fee will go down...but I really doubt it. IF they are goign to have streaming videos and new music up in the site ...which is what a alot of people want...then that means lots of bandwidth is needed...specially with the size of this fandom...and that means higher fees. I remember checking out Josh Groban's fan club site and their fee was about 40 plus dollars..

we agree on that..I think I just worded it stupidly. And I really don't care about the price- up/down/ whatever..just hope they aren't spending any money maintaining that message board. Can you tell I hate the message board? Sewage pit. (all due apologies to those that like it)

LOl bottlecap - I hadn't been there in a few months and went one day last week - I'm not sure who are the new moderators but I did notice mods seemed to be slapping down people more (did get a few laughs out of that and mumbled a few "go girls" etc) and had more tude which they damn well need over there. Those are my vibes as well.

Hee. No arguments from me about the OFC message board, Couchie. Whenever I temporarily lose my mind and visit there, it either raises my blood pressure, lowers my IQ, or makes me want to go searching for a new, improved tinfoil hat. Maybe it's better since they have added some more moderators, but I don't care to find out. I don't care for the whole vibe of the place.

This was posted yesterday by Clayzedover in the CH....please keep your salt lick handy...

These two posts were found on Idolforums and brought over to CV:

I emailed my brother a while back and this is what he said.

I just checked with our RCA rep....we still have a

June 20th street date for the new record. Nothing is

ever firm in the music business....but you can rest

assured he'll have a new CD come out. We'll see how it does.

And a couple of hours later, she posted this....

Ugh, my brother just sent me another email...

Moved date today to July or August for Clay street date. Sorry sis.

I seriously hope this is not true at all.

Just bringing it for info purposes. This same poster's brother had the May 9th date at one time

Now...if there is any truth to this rumor...I wouldn't be surprised. This will give them more time to build up the promo of the CD and have more radio exposure for the single. If he releases the single in May he can still make the TV rounds...with a visit to AI.

sigh...its truly a roller coaster....

Well, I have a more encouraging rumor to post from stripedshirts at Clayversity:

I have scoop.

I went to GMA this morning, & I am happy to report that Clay will be coming to the 2006 GMA Summer Concert Series. He is part of the line up w/ Mary J. Blige, & Rascal Flatts, to name a few. A staff member there who knows I love Clay, shared this information to me. They don't know WHEN yet, but he IS coming.

Naturally if there's more news, I'll let you know.

I know I should salt this one too, but screw it: EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
