Just bringing over a cute Leno review from ncgurrl at CH, via CV:

Leno was a blast as always. I still have yet to figure out why someone who uses a cane, has trouble, climbing stairs and who specifically tells the staff at Leno about the issue is directed up a steep flight of stairs and down another to her seat while a group of four who asks for floor seats is directed straight down the hall to the lower seats.

For future reference: the seating protocol is weird at Leno. There are VIP tickets, regular tickets and standby. I will not include special guest tickets as they are a whole other animal. VIP tickets are exactly like the regular tickets you get in the mail with the exception that you are guaranteed seating. You have to go to the back of the building to customer service to pick the ticket up and then are escorted as a group back around to the front of the building and inside to be seated. The regular ticket holders have been waiting out front hoping that they will get in. In practice anyone who gets there at a reasonable hour will get in with a regular ticket and you will get in before the VIP ticket holders. so the order goes Regular ticket holders until the VIP line arrives, VIP ticket holders, rest of the regular ticket holders then the standby number holders. I think tonight just about everyone there got in.

Anyway Permaswooned and I did get in the door and did get a seat in the center section near the top. We could see but we were not close to anyone. A new addition to the items not allowed in the studio or even in studio check room are knives with a long blade and personal protection pepper sprays. "Please take them back to your car."

New warm up guy is not as good as the old one. The show band is still great and really rocks on the breaks. During the breaks an intern comes down the rows and stands at the tier breaks. I guess they are afraid we will break for the front if given the opportunity. Guards and interns stand in front of the stage. When the show is on they all melt into the background out of the way.

The news segment was way too long. Just shut up Jay and bring out your guests. I enjoyed Jack Black. During his segment breaks he and Jay chatted like Jay usually does with Clay when Clay has long segments. It was a mutual respect atmosphere. Finally Clay was announced and Came out to lots of screams and applause. Loved the hair. Did not like the jacket much and the shirt pulled and puckered at the top. The outfit would have worked better with just a ta-shirt. Perhaps a teeny tiny shirt that pulled up in front when Clay moved. Rivet.

Jack Black seemed to be take with Clay's sense of humor. The raspberry at the teacher broke him up. When Clay and Jack started talking Jay seemed to be a bit at a loss but then he seemed engaged by what was happening on his stage. When the break came and Clay left to get ready to sing. Jack turned to Jay and gestured in an expansive way that indicated he was talking about Clay. Jay nodded and they talked a bit.

Both Jay and Jack stood at the stage edge during the song and seemed to be enjoying it. Jack talked to Clay and to the girls a bit after the song.

After the filming of the promos Clay loped off the stage but was visible in silhouette in the hall where he threw his arms around a woman and smooched her. The woman was one of the staff people who had been working the show. She was slim with long flowing blond hair. I had not been paying attention to whether she was Leno staff or not but she had free access to the stage area.

During the post monologue break hair and make up came out and touched up Jay. They left. Jay immediately ran his hands through his hair and undid what had just been done and then wiped his had over his face to brush off the excess. Just a tidbit that made him human to me.

I've PM'd claytonic, but I think CDT is "Central Daylight Time." *g*

And you guys are good, I could only get LWLHD. I couldn't figure out the other two -- but then HMTMKM is one of my least favorite songs by Clay. Should have known NSTLYA though.

<-- i LOVE vengeful Clay, heh heh.

so many favorite moments in the show, but the highlight for me was when he slipped so effortlessly to his British accent. Mah God, it's no different than that spoken by the Harry Potter actors (i'm a big fan of the books and the movies). It just tingles my girly parts :lilredani:

ETA: from SLC at the CH

I just received some interesting information...

Take this with a grain of salt and for what it's worth.

My Mom's friend knows I like Clay and that's about it. He really has no reason to lie or make things up. So last night, she said he wanted to talk to me, but she didn't know why. So I get on the phone and he says, "Did you know that Clay Aikens [notice the "s" haha] is going to be at the Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford, CT in the fall?" I said, "What? How do you know? When?" And he said, "I have season tickets and am friends with the booking agent, and he told me that he is going to be there at the end of September." And then he said something very odd. "He is going to be doing something with Tina Turner. She is kicking off a year long tour and will be a special guest of Clay's."

Then he said I could use his 10th row center season tickets. Haha

So that's it. That's all I know. Like I said, I don't know how true it is, yet he has no reason to lie, and maybe he got his information wrong. Who knows. I just thought I would pass it along.

I will give it a couple weeks and try to get more information out of him.

Oh my frickin' lord!

from clayscience21 at CB

A poster asked me to pass along the info that Clay will be interviewed on Sunny 99.1 tomorrow, May 14, at 5:50 am by Dana, the morning DJ. It was confirmed on air by Dana.

This is KODA FM in Houston. I assume the 5:50 am is central time?

http://www.sunny99.com/main.html

They do seem to stream. (Click the "Listen Live" at the right of their banner). The station has two ads for listening to Clay's album on their main page.

Sunny 99.1 in Houston? Of course, the OMWH streaming isn't actually like, working!

Clay and Tina Turner? Tina Turner? Oh, why the hell not.

It seems like the 'First Listen' is over on these radio station sites. None of the ones I've been streaming have it any more. His pic and the link is still on the main page, but when you click it, it gives a message instead.

Seems like there are only three at a time and now it's Bryan Adams, Steve Winwood and Neil Diamond.

Mike Nichols said "Clay Aiken is amazing beyond that glorious voice".... and it was evident again during the Leno interview. Clay is an entertainer in the real sense of the word. One of the best things about these promotional interviews is that we are rivetingly entertained before he even sings the first note.

claytonic, I was just sitting here thinking about the things Mike Nichols said in the press release that announced Clay joining the cast of Spamalot. Those words from Mike Nichols and Eric Idle about Clay, and Clay's subsequent success in the role have probably gone a long way in contributing toward Clay's "gravitas". It was just interesting to me to hear Jay use that word. Maybe Spamalot is giving Clay some of that "dues paying" credibility that seems so important to some.

I finally got my QVC CD/DVD and, after a bit of a struggle, was able to play the TITN video.

My opinion? Not a Clay Aiken or even a TITN video. It's a Matthew Rolson video. It's much more about the photography than the music. And look at the credits ... twice for MR and only once in itty bitty letters for Clay.

I assume that RCA would have added something to the finished product, but as it stands, there's no mention of RCA, the album, or even the name of the song. Not exactly high-profile branding. I'm really surprised that RCA let it out in this condition. I guess it was a true throwaway.

bwah..what a combination. yeah why the hell not.

Well she's right in his demographic right? :imgtongue:

Let's ask KAndre and couchie! *g*

Maybe Spamalot is giving Clay some of that "dues paying" credibility that seems so important to some.

I've always thought that a lot of things Clay and his team has chosen to do have been important for the "behind the scenes" aspect of his career. While I'm sure there are a few that have worked with Clay that will never want to work with him again (for whatever reason), there seems to be just as many that have realized that the man is funny, smart, sings fantastically, and most importantly, a hard worker. He seems to me to be getting a reputation as a guy who enjoys what he does, and better yet, respects those working around him. (Example: love that he gave a farewell gift to each and every person he worked with at Spamalot...) There's a loyalty to him, and he gets it back more often than not. It's this "behind the scenes" stuff that makes me truly believe that he's got a long-term career going. It's not something that shows up immediately to "the fans" -- but IMO it will keep "us" happy for a long time to come.

I want my QVC order NOW. It had better come today!

It's a wonder that Clay has ever completed a negotiation before the fans heard about it. Not sure whether to be alarmed or amused by how swiftly little tidbits get around.

Last night was such a success in my book. I like the look of the band (what a handsome, retro-looking group of musicians!)...I enjoy watching the way they seem to be 'into' the music, which gives a good impression to the viewers. Wonder who is drumming for Spamalot if Clay has Sean?

p.s from SLC

I need to clarify. He did NOT say anything about one opening for the other.

The point of my post was the glimmer of hope for a fall tour.

He just happened to add the Tina Turner thing in, so I figured I would include it cuz it's just so weird. Like I said, maybe he got wrong info - maybe the guy was telling him Tina Turner was also touring at the same time and he misunderstood. Again, nothing was said about one opening for the other.

I will try to talk to him again soon to see if he can give me anymore info.

And although the stage is very high at this venue, it is a very nice place and you get a great view from anywhere in the theatre. I hope he is there cuz the only other comparable size place would be Mohegan Sun and you all know what it's like to try to get tix there....

What is Tina, 70 now? Hell yeah she's in his demographic! Heh. I wonder if the people bitching about the "old women" front and center at QVC would give Tina a pass...

Yep. That's what I'm talking about. :cryingwlaughter: (But thanks, ldyj ;-)

Heheh, and SLC seems surprised that people are extrapolating. Ummm, have ya met the fandom???

Hee, Team Tina is probably going to be scratching their heads soon, wondering why there was a sudden spike in hits to Tina related sites and/or even ticket sales. :cryingwlaughter: Would be funny if a bunch of Claymates bought tickets "just in case" and it turns out to be a simple case of miscommunication. :P

You'd think we were in a drought or something, the way we attack any tidbit like a pack of rabid dogs.....hee.
