bottlecap
I'm dead. I just listened to the mp3 of last night's AIW. Could y'all hear me screaming where you were? What a triumph for Clay, and how fortunate were the concert attenders last night who got to experience that live.
djs111
I have watched the AIW clip about eleventy times - makes me cry, he looked so damn happy! And there is a little bit at the end where a band member does a Yes! nod of his head, as Clay leaves the stage behind the orchestra - I am quite pleased with that! Like everyone else, it seems, I was beaming good thoughts with all my might as Clay sang last night - but I gotta say that he did that all on his own. Of course, the other option is to wonder which fans were responsible for the missed note the night before.....

Have you seen Scarlett's snippet yet? If you can get away from Clay, watch Jesse Vargas. After the big note at the end, he gives this very pleased smirk. It's adorable. Like everyone else, it seems, I was beaming good thoughts with all my might as Clay sang last night - but I gotta say that he did that all on his own. Of course, the other option is to wonder which fans were responsible for the missed note the night before..... I'd give the fans SOME credit for last night (especially those of us IN THE ROOM ), but not all. CLAY is the one who gave 25000% last night for that performance. I really wish I could say more than that, but I think for those of us who were actually there...we're still processing. Basking in the afterglow, as it were. KAndre
Man...oh, man. I have a middle finger raised to all who have commented that they don't think Clay is really into singing, that he's just using it to push his other interests. That man, singing that song, at that moment blocked out everything except how to make himself produce those sounds - the audience and the orchestra gone; but back - the yammy faces that he used for 24 years prior to Idol - the stance - the tension of the body and relaxation of the throat. This man SANGS y'all - from his heart, his gut, his cajones. He may never talk about it - because singing is what he IS, not what he does. It's just 99.9% of the time he makes it look easy, effortless, like anyone can do it. Until someone else tries. But that 0.1% - oh man. The passion, the joy, the glory that is Clay's voice...that reminds me why I continue to deal with many of the crazies...because even they get it. They'll bitch later, but while they are in the moment - they get it. I accepted the fact that he had me forever a long time ago - that through him, I have met some of the bestest people that it's quite probable that 30 years from now we'll be gumming fatijas together and spiking our Ensure with tequila after escaping our keepers - but honestly, if for some reasons I'm locked away incommunicado I'll still love Clay. atinal
Well, first I'd like to thank God for helping me navigate the still ice and snow covered roads of western Illinois to make it to this concert. The first words out of my mouth to my friend as we exited the Star Plaza last night. "That was more than worth the drive" I want to thank ldyjocelyn, luckiest1 and HeidiHo for including my friend and I in their after concert afterglow session. It was fun to be able to interact with people who love this guy as much as I do. I don't know what to say about the concert, but I sincerely wish all of you could have been there. There was magic in that room last night and I feel honored to have witnessed it. He was funny, chatty, charming, I could go on but you've heard it all before. He is right, this concert is about the music, and seeing him carry this off with out the aid of back up singers and many rehearsals was really extrordinary. I will try to remember more specifics when my mind returns. Oh, and thank you Kelly Rippa, you have provided Clay with weeks of comic material for this round of concerts. Edited to add: I love KAndre Edited December 3, 2006 by atinal

muskifest
I've only been able to watch the AIW clack. Nothing else. What I mean is...I haven't downloaded anything else, not that I've ONLY watched that one song. Never mind. And I love KAndre too, and would be honored to gum fajitas and noisily slurp tequila-laced laxatives wtih her some years down the road. The man never disappoints. Sorry to all those who thought he did Friday night. He didn't. He struggled, but he didn't disappoint. Then last night he "raised the bar, surpassed the bar"...he keeps doing that, y'all. I love him, what he brings to the world, what he brings out of all of us, what his voice does to those smart enough to listen---Even his broken notes have meaning. I love him. KAndre
It sounds almost sacrilegious, but honestly, Clay fills my heart with joy...when y'all get a chance, watch my baby Scarlett's banter...it is incredible how funny, quick-witted and truly, madly snarky he is...I am so freakin jealous of those he mocked! Except Ripa...I laugh at Ripa...I love how he just calls her "Ripa"...I think I'll call her Cousin It.
ivy
KAndre You said it. You can just see how he loves music and is so into the instrumentals on various songs. It is an integral part of him.
muskifest
Dang. Everybody and their sister must be trying to download Scarlett's clack. The transfer rate is so slow I think I might be able to find her and ask her personally and get back before my pitiful 'small wmv' file finishes! Oh well...gotta get the Carrie kid to her indoor soccer game anyway...then, I plan to stay home today, dang it, and just soak in the clack. As I do bills and laundry and such....heh. sigh. I love Clay Aiken. He makes me so happy.
Ansamcw
Another KAndre Fan here.... and y'a know...thats the reason i don;t ever worry about all his other activities like his talk of doing talk shows and such...because I know he will never...ever stop singing if he can help it. Even when he was planning to be a teasher you just know he would still be singing his heart out in some capacity. It is HIM. YUP...as much as I felt the fandom's energy as I listened to him on cellcert and chanted...oh please...please please God help him...I don;t feel right for fans taking any credit for what happened. It was that man's determination, strength and will that enabled him to do that. I'm sure hearing Ethel tell him...Its all Good, Its all Good...calmed him, it was still his courage that made him attempt that last night despite his voice not being 100% and despite what happend the night before. It was still his skill that let him harness all that energy and let him control his voice through out the show so he has enough juice to hit that note beautifully. CLAY...BRAVO!!! WORD!!! WORD!!!! WORDY McWORD!!!! No wonder I am your loyal minion! Last night reminded me of so many of the reasons I love that man and - at least most of the time - this fandom. Sometimes it just all comes together and we all unite instead of bitch and even the Pod People put down the tin foil they use to bring in the secret messages and go back to just simply and completely appreciating the man (and his pants..) and the VOX. Last night all the things we love most about Clay were front and center. All I can say is thank God for CLACK! You know, I was thinking about the yammy faces. I noticed after watching the AIW clack for, let's just say, it wasn't my frst time..., it hit me. I think when he needs to concentrate, when a song may not come as easily for him, when he is determined to get every note right, he resorts back to every technique he ever used. I bet if he continues to nail this song for a few concerts in a row and his confidence for hitting that note grows, the yammy faces will be less pronounced. Just my theory. Yeah, whenever I see him on stage, he so clearly seems to love what he's doing, that I find it impossible to believe that his heart isn't in it. He may get a lot of pleasure out of other activities, charitable or otherwise. However, he's a Singer. I think he'll always find a way to sing. I haven't had a chance to catch up anywhere else, but when I heard that this morning, I figured that was Ethel. And then when I saw the Clack, and Clay flashed that quick grin in what I assume was her direction...Well, I've never met the woman, but that made me a fan of hers for life. Clay obviously likes her, and she has certainly demonstrated her affection and support for him. Hugs to you, (((Ethel))).

I think I appreciate her so much because she reminds me of my Dear Aunt that I lost to cancer at age 50. But I'm loving the banter with her last night. And it reminded me of some of my favorites concerts JBT AC...where he singled her out and she admitted that she was just looking for a better seat. She makes a great foil. I'm cracking up..Back to the clack. Am I the only one watching in order... I haven't listened to AIW yet.
bottlecap
I'm downloading the whole thing now, but I had to watch AIW. I've watched about a third of Waukegan, so I gotta finish that up, and then I want to watch Merrillville in order. I can't wait to catch up on the banter and the expressions and whatnot. Thank the good Lord & Taylor that my downloading speeds seem to be better today. And thank you Clay's managers for giving us this day off to catch up from the wild weekend. atinal and ldyjocelyn, thanks for your recaps and keep the details coming. Hopefully, rcknrllmom will check in too. I love to read about all the travel adventures and the parties and the emotions and just all the little details of your concert experiences. dreamlarge
Speaking of Hometown Connection, I’ve heard the mp3 but I don’t think I’ve ever seen this video before. He is freaking adorable. I’m still catching up on the boards and watching clack from last night. I’m very happy for him. He makes it look so easy that sometimes I forget that it isn't. I’m not crazy about the hair but I noticed the package was on display last night. I put a couple little snips together. I’ll leave it up for a little while on (It’s not at my dreamlarge account. It’s at another account I have.) Edited December 4, 2006 by dreamlarge

muskifest
Could someone please clue me in to the clack that has Ethel saying "It's all good. It's all good", etc? And get this. Alex had been up in her room doing homework, cleaning in order to be able to go bowling with her friend. She just came down and sat down at the computer to check bus schedules. And I'm sitting here typing away on my laptop. Then...out of nowhere...I hear her sweet voice singing... "As hard as love can be....it's harder still it seems...." I stopped typing and said..."Where'd that song come from." (BUSTED! ) She didn't take her eyes off the computer screen and just said, "Well, DUH..from you. You made it...!" "ME? I haven't played that song in forever!" "Yes you have! " "No I haven't, Alex. I've been playing Christmas music." I give her one of these... She gets mad and says, "Well, you got it stuck in my brain then. GOD!" But she's having a hard time hiding her grin. "Uh..huh. Sure." She finally looks at me and says, "I was NOT playing that song." "Uh huh..sure..." "It is a pretty song though." "Whatever...just.." "He wrote that one, you know." "Mom...stop...OKAY! Geezzzz." HEEE! He'll get you if you give him half a chance. muskifest
bottle...thanks...I'll go check the Ethel out...and yeah...that's Minifest1, the one going with me to the Long Island concert....she thinks Clay 'sings well enough' but he's just.not.cool.... Oh, and dreamlarge....yeah. That. People have been talking about the new assage Clay seems to be sporting...well, my eyes have been on the more traditional packages, you know? And last night...those pants displayed Clay's non musical...gifts...quite well. Standing, sitting, walking... In Ethel's words...."It's all good." bottlecap
Okay, I'm going in - I'm planning to watch the rest of Waukegan and all of Merrillville tonight. I hope I don't end up "Coughing up a kidney". Although if too much Clack kills me, at least I'll die with a smile on my face.
