Play, I don't feel like my feelings are "tainted". It's just how it is. If I could write an essay, then you might understand how such a trauma did effect my Dad's life in very complex ways. That doesn't mean he "lost". I have many relatives who experienced the Holocaust in different ways, including death. I still love Christmas, even as a non-practicing Jew. It's never a black and white thing. My cousin Lelli, who escaped through the Alps with her daughter but lost her mother in Auschwitz, always told me, "Dahlink(she sounded just like Dr. Ruth) , forgive but never forget!" She was the most positive person I ever met. I would never consider her a "loser".

I think Americans of African descent would know what I"m talking about.

Diva, thanks for sharing your Dad's story! It was beautiful!

Is there Anyone who can check the Korean or Japanese sites? I can't load the fonts and wouldn't know what I was looking at anyway.
Would you pls post a link to the Japanese site? MiniScarlett's here with me and she's can read Japanese.

Sorry if I misunderstood, I guess it's hard to get the meaning of what someone is saying in brief words and if you don't know the person that well. I apologize, guess I overreacted. These kind of things are so complicated. I think someone like John McCain is an amazingly triumphant person, but I bet a day doesn't go by that he doesn't forget.

Yes, I was talking about the triumph of good memories over bad.

Turns out there is an English version of the Japanese Equivalent of the RIAA, but they don't keep the Gold and Platinu figures there.

http://www.riaj.or.jp/e/ - so, thanks, but I was wrong.

Now I can't find the link to the Korean site anymore, I used to have that information,. Guess I am just falling down on the job. I guess some dday we will haveto get Clay to talk about his own awards to make keeping track easier.

Every time I read this thread title (which I voted for), I picture an elegantly suited Clay holding some sort of drink with ice cubes in it - I keep forgetting y'all are talking about ice skating.

 Me too.

Yes, Mr. Aiken, you can buy me a drink anytime!!!

I can't believe the m&g emails haven't gone out yet. I hope someone is working at Clique this weekend! Otherwise I hope everyone headed for Wichita has internet access somewhere along the way.......

2 more days! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I wonder if Clay even realizes that the emails for the meet & greets haven't gone out yet, since he's so focused on the fan stories. I can check my email from my treo while I'm in route to Wichita on Monday, although it's probably unlikely that I'll win.

I'm soooo excited for the concert! YAY, only two days!

I really enjoyed your story, Diva!

merryclay...

I can't wait till Mon. Good luck to all the storytellers and safe travels and God bless. I hope the tour is everything Clay dreamed it would be.

Diva... your story touched me. I can hear the ringing of that bell and see the children swinging from the rope in my imagination. Thanks! Your party sounds divine, since I love Celtic with a passion! And the food... YUM!!! And, the company would be a blast!!! Too bad I live in SoCal and cannot afford to fly to a concert. :sad52:

I have decided since I love AIW to distraction, that I am going to download every AIW he has sung and make a cd of them in order of his singing it. I am just listening to it over and over anyhow that this will be more fun... LOL That song just lifts my spirits every time!!!

Clay finally has some great stuff coming up and he can't appear on late night to push them and now Spamalot is in jeopardy... a pox on all strikers... your timing stinks big time!!! Someone fix it!!! :grrrr:

I think I figured out how to quote and use emoticons in FastReply... let's see if it works... IT WORKED!!! My life is much better now!!! LOL

Diva, I had read your story over at CH but couldn't comment there as I'm not a member. It's a beautiful and moving story. Thanks for sharing it.

Thankyou, sheila- oddly enough I have a cousin Sheila in Sydney! We have never met because I've never been "downunder" . She grew up in Vauxcluse(sp?).

Thankyou liney, gibby and merry, too!

Hee, well, you have as much of a chance of winning as anyone else, right? Glad you can check email, but I think you are right, Clay probably doesn't have a clue about the timelines for the m&g notifications....I can't see that he'd really need to have any part in that, since they are chosen at random.

I'm listening to Clay narrate Rewind, while sorting through clack and making room for the new tour by burning off last year's Christmas tour stuff. Checking email every few minutes, too. :cryingwlaughter:

This was the rather depressing article that inspired my angst this morning over Spamalot. However this evening, there is another one that says talks will resume tomorrow. *says a little prayer*

I've only been following the stagehand strike story in a general way, but I have to think unless the union has a substantial strike fund, the members who are out of work will be hurting financially pretty soon and will pressure their leaders to get back to negotiations. I wouldn't think any of the parties involved could afford to let this thing drag on very long into the Christmas season. But that may be wishful thinking on my part.

bottle, according to that article, the union has a fund of 4.1 million dollars to aide their efforts. Unfortunately, the other side has 20 million. :-/ I just can't imaging that either side can possible recoup what they are losing over this though. *shrug*

:F_05BL17blowkiss: Hello, FCA! I've been MIA for about a week or more I think. Real life is kicking my butt right now. I was going to try to catch up, but when I looked down and saw that the new thread already has 15 freakin' pages I knew I wouldn't have time.

Hey did y'all know that Clay is going to be singing purty Christmas songs to MEEEEEEEE!!!! in 48 hours!! ???

:ole0:

:manynanas:

If y'all are listening on the cellstream or something and hear a thunder bolt, and a crack of lighting followed by the sounds of the church falling down, you'll know the Big Guy upstaris doesn't like it when his chirrun lust in church.

I'm skeered.

<snip>.... and 2 bars of Hershey's all natural Extra Dark Chocolate with Macadamia Nuts and Cranberries, one of which I'm sending to jazzgirl. Any takers for the other one?

Great minds think alike on that one! Unseen forces of the universe must be operating. "Houston, we have a connection" and I don't even live there. One of my "Black Friday" purchases was the Hershey Extra Dark Assortment which includes mini dark chocolate bars with cranberries, blueberries and almonds dispersed throughout the chocolate. Yum! I had the serving size of 4 mini bars yesterday and I've already had 4 today and I'm trying very hard to not go past my limit. I also discovered that Ghirardelli dark chocolate is quite good too. In fact, dark chocolate is so good, it made me think of the phrase "a jug of wine, a loaf of bread, and thou" (from The Rubaiyat by Omar Khayyam), which caused me to google it and I found this very funny and snarky revisionist poem (the poem needs an iPod update for the Sony Walkman):

The Rubaiyat Revisited

A guy by the name of Khayyam

Was very much like I am,

He wanted to defy 'em all.

His design for a life was to be

As bright as a shining ruby

And nothing quite connubial.

Just a jug of wine, a loaf of bread and thou.

But today we need much more than that somehow.

I'd like to hold you,

To have you,

Under some bough...

Some diet Pepsi,

A loaf of protein bread

And thou.

I'd like to kiss you,

To love you

Under some tree...

A two way pager,

A phone that's cellular

And thee.

Oh, what we need to drive away fears,

To make us safer and saner!

Did Methuselah really live nine hundred years

Without one damned personal trainer?

Oh, to caress you,

Embrace you

Under some bough...

A new palm pilot,

A heart rate monitor

And thou.

II

I'd like to hold you,

To have you

Under some bough...

A frozen pizza,

A one touch Microwave

And thou.

I'd like to kiss you,

To love you

Under some tree...

A Sony walkman,

A digital camera

And thee.

What could we modern fellows enjoy

Without our yogurt and yoga?

How could Paris carry off Helen of Troy

With no viagra stashed in his toga?

Oh, to caress you,

Embrace you

Under some bough...

Some marijuana,

A box of Nicorettes

And thou...

A loaf of protein bread,

A phone that's cellular,

A heart rate monitor,

A one touch Microwave,

A digital camera,

A box of Nicorettes,

Our psychoanalysts

And thou.

Diva, I loved your story. Your father was a survivor and how touching how that sound reminded him of his childhood.

Heeee! Glad you posted, BW. Now, I seem to remember a conversation we had awhile back that when I meet you in Wichita, I'm supposed to yell out your screenname really loud. Even if it's in the middle of the crowded lobby, or in the church santuary itself. 'Cuz I'll be sooo overcome with joy when I meet you!

:cryingwlaughter:

Speaking of meeting fellow FCAers - how many are going to the preparty? I won't be able to go, because Reiki4Clay and I are driving from Colorado, and we'll get there just a little while before the concert. I'd love to get together with a few people afterwards to discuss the concert! Who else would like to join in? I'll have my laptop along, so we can post here afterwards if we go somewhere that has wifi, or from the hotel where I'm staying.

Weird I too bought special chocolate on Friday. I bought one chocolate bar flavoured with curry powder, another one with Earl Gray Tea and my favourite with Applewood Smoked bacon. Yummy...I mean really yummy!

I too am waiting for my M& G email. Doesn't he realize that we start travelling and don't all have laptops with us?

ROTFL! Hopefully that bough wasn't obstructing the Wi-Fi connection, the way "Boughs of holly" do according to this article.
