Soooooo, still no sign of m&g emails, but some nice articles this morning, some with little bits of interview included. Found around the boards.

Aiken and Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra present holiday concert

http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/kzgazet...&thispage=2

KALAMAZOO -- When one thinks of Christmas music, names such as Andy Williams or Bing Crosby may spring to mind.

These days, there's one pop performer trimming the proverbial tree with his own holiday song stylings: 2003 ``American Idol'' runner-up Clay Aiken.

Aiken, accompanied by the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, will wrap his voice around seasonal tunes new and old when ``Christmas With Clay Aiken'' hits Miller Auditorium on Friday.

According to North Carolina native Aiken, there is a conscious attempt to deliver a fresh experience each tour.

``It differs a little bit every year,'' said Aiken, who called from his cell phone on his way to a doctor's appointment.

Clay Aiken Speaks

http://www.timesleader.com/living/20071125...en_etc_ART.html

Clay Aiken speaks quickly, a southern drawl attached to every word. Sometimes the North Carolina resident will slow down and compose himself, but his sentences are mostly one long word said in one long breath without pauses.

It seems like a metaphor for the way his life has been since he was the runner-up on Season 2 of “American Idol.”

MERRY MUSIC: Add these 12 Christmas CDs to your holiday collection

http://citizen-times.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...&source=rss

ASHEVILLE - It wouldn't be the holidays without music. And a lot of performers have released holiday collections - some great, some forgettable, some downright strange.

You'll likely hear a nonstop wave of holiday music between now and year's end. Greenville, S.C.-based radio station WMYI/102.5-FM has already switched to an all-Christmas format. Both Sirius and XM satellite radio have opened holiday channels. Charter cable subscribers can find Christmas classics on the Music Choice "Sounds of the Seasons" audio channel.

But if you can't get enough, here are a dozen holiday CDs to add to your collection or just dream about. Look in local stores, or check online at such sites as Amazon.com.

1 "Merry Christmas With Love" - Clay Aiken. North Carolina's "American Idol" superstar dishes the holiday delights, including "O Holy Night" and "Winter Wonderland."

Did you know: His concert this past summer at Biltmore Estate was a quick sell-out, pulling more than 3,000 fans.

Christmas comes early for Aiken fans

http://www.southbendtribune.com/apps/pbcs....250458/1043/Ent

Clay Aiken is driving to his doctor's office when he pauses to talk about his upcoming 20-city "Christmas in the Heartland" tour.

"All is well," he says by telephone from somewhere in Los Angeles. "Before I start a tour, I like to make sure everything is working."

It's not a bad idea, considering how busy the 2003 "American Idol" runner-up has been lately.

Hee, I think this one didn't get the memo that he lives in NC, not LA.

And this next one is about the Broadway strike.

In Broadway Dispute, Both Sides Agree: It’s All About Fairness

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/25/nyregion...amp;oref=slogin

The two sides are scheduled to resume formal negotiations today for the first time in a week.

The theater owners and producers have zeroed in on several work rules that they say are particularly inefficient and costly. They resent a rule, for instance, that requires them to pay stagehands $56 per hour, the highest pay rate, for mopping a stage before each performance, amounting, they say, to extra costs of as much as $24,000 a year, plus benefit contributions. The league also dislikes, but is no longer insisting on changing, a rule that requires making premium payments to stagehands who work on Sunday when other Broadway workers, like actors, do not receive them.

My fingers are crossed that they reach a settlement this time.

No one seems to have received story or M&G e-mails yet. EEEEEPS! How nerve-racking that must be for those who are going to the first show.

Safe travels for those who are on the roads to Wichita! :xmas07a:

I moved a bunch of stuff off my laptop and on to my external hard drive yesterday and made new folders for the CITH shows. Bring on the popping-hot fresh CLACK bay-bee!

Hee, I think this one didn't get the memo that he lives in NC, not LA.

....but maybe the person who takes care of those lovely vocal cords lives in LA. It could be that he travels to see a vocal specialist when he's getting ready to record or tour.

I wonder if he has to sit in the waiting room as long as I do when I go see my ENT. :P

Only one more sleep! whoo-hoo! I wonder if he geats as jazzed as we do when a new tour is about to start...?

(this post brought to you by the fine sense of wonder)

ETA....I just noticed at the bottom of the board under 'Forthcoming Calendar Events within the next 5 days,' it says there are none...I wonder what's up with that! :cryingwlaughter::XmasRed:

I guess he could have been in LA, but I just figured since he said he was rehearsing in NC, that was where the interviews were done. In the one, he said they were rehearsing in the next room. Doesn't matter either way.

I think the board calendar is only used for members' birthdays. The main FCA website has a very up-to-date calendar.

My son is trying to drag me out to the mall this morning, to start his Christmas shopping. Hey, I guess I should be happy that he finally seems to be mature enough to want to spend his money on other people, instead of himself. Of course, I say that now....before he gets there and sees all those things he wants NOW, not in a month from now. :cryingwlaughter: The things we do for our kids.....I would more than happy to do all my Christmas shopping online, where I never have to step foot in a crowded store.

Heeee! Glad you posted, BW. Now, I seem to remember a conversation we had awhile back that when I meet you in Wichita, I'm supposed to yell out your screenname really loud. Even if it's in the middle of the crowded lobby, or in the church santuary itself. 'Cuz I'll be sooo overcome with joy when I meet you!

:cryingwlaughter:

Speaking of meeting fellow FCAers - how many are going to the preparty? I won't be able to go, because Reiki4Clay and I are driving from Colorado, and we'll get there just a little while before the concert. I'd love to get together with a few people afterwards to discuss the concert! Who else would like to join in? I'll have my laptop along, so we can post here afterwards if we go somewhere that has wifi, or from the hotel where I'm staying.

:Ahh: AAAACCCCKKKK!!!

**runs to WalMart in search of disguise**

Ok, I'm looking forward to meeting you too. Look for me. I'm a very short, rotund male with body tattoos, pierced nose, and blonde hair. Oh, and I'm Asian. I should be easy to spot. :whistling-1:

I'm so excited. JaMar is coming over this afternoon and we'll leave for Wichita in the morning. I hate the thought of the drive, but can't wait to see my bf.

Gibby I'd love to meet up with you after the concert. Preferably in a bar. :cryingwlaughter:

Is it just me, or does our BF's "love affair" with us just shine through in those? There's just something about the wording used that makes me all schmoopie. :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Of course, I AM going to have to slap him upside the head if he says one more time that we're here because we love music, American Idol, and each other...in that order. Not that we've not acquired good and lasting friendships....but honey...it's YOU!!!

Best wishes to all traveling to Wichita for the first show of the tour!

Gibby, Bookwhore is lying. She's a lovely tall blonde with the best smile. Enjoy your first meeting!

I wish I were going to Wichita, :cry4: . The first show is always so exciting, and that setting is unique for sure! Dec. 2 is just around the corner, though, and I'll be in DC for the show, so I shouldn't complain.

What a great batch of interviews. I'm glad he clarified the reason for the trip to the doctor. The Mama's would have been out in force if he hadn't. Clay's learned a few things....hee.

OMG! I'm soooo excited!

Ack! please don't apologize...I know about RL butt kicking very well...I was just sitting this morning smiling at all of us running here and there getting ready for the tour to start when I noticed the calendar was empty. It just struck me as funny for some odd reason...please don't mind me. :fca:

Exactly!! :lmaosmiley-1: And there was just something about the way he phrased it....muski?

I could visualize THAT look on his face again...that flippin' 6 and 9 look. :naughtywag:

THIS from CV from Claysfayevorite, I absolutely loved:

Now if he would only let us know about those Meet and Greets, maybe some lucky winner could just make sure he understands that we are quite closely knit...around him. Without him...just a skein of yarn.

BWAH, BW!! The only problem with this plan is that I'll have to explain to my hubby why I'm meeting with a short, rotund Asian male with tattoos and piercings in a bar. Hubby just might take exception to that.

:lmaosmiley-1:

Oh, and by the way, there's nothing wrong with a tattoo. I have one, and it isn't all that small, although it's where no one can really see it unless I show it to them.

ETA: Aw, thanks, Liney, for describing me in such a nice way! :lilredani: I'll have my laptop along, and I'll report back, as long as I'm not too thudded out from seeing Mr. Aiken!!

See for me, he was the catalyst but I can guarantee you I would not have gone to mumbleymymbley concerts and traveled near and far just for him. Maybe in the beginning, but in all honesty, what makes going to multiple concerts a tour fun for me are the friends I get to see. I love Clay, but if it weren't for the friendships made I would probably only go to a concert or two a tour and I definitely wouldn't travel more than maybe a 2-hour car ride to see him, if that.

BWAH! Ain't that the truth!!

I can honestly say this is one first concert I have no desire to go to. Still having a very hard time with his appearing at that church. Other than hair and pants, I don't really have any interest in clack from it because just seeing the venue will get me all upset again.

But I hope all who are going have a great time! Wonder if the readers and the M&Gers will get their emails before the show starts....

I have to agree with Clay. If it wasn't for the people I met on-line, I would never have gone to the Ai2 tour. It was near my house and people were planning to meet for dinner and I got a seat next to people I sort of knew (although they all upgraded and left me behind), so I went. I tried totalk my sister into going, but she did not have anyone to go with either, so I posted about it on line and someone volunteered.to meet her part way in the 3 hour drive. Turns out it was not a bloody killer, but a sweet, if nuts, woman. I have met several people to go to concerts with, so, yeah, making friends makes it easier. Would I really have flown to Texas if I did not know anyone?

I do love the casual way he is conducting the interviews. I love the way he said "all is well" to describe why he was going to the doctor. A great in joke for all of us.

EEEE great interviews, Clay.

Ugh a raking day today, the wind storm did nto materialize, so no excuses.

Whee, personal first hand reports of the first concert - tell it like it is, guys!

Wow, I have not been here since Thanksgiving night. There were a lot of pages to catch up!

On Black Friday I was out shopping with my two dd's for 10 hours! My legs and feet were screamin', let me tell you! I didn't even buy that much, but we had fun. Its not often that we get that much time with DD#1.

DH took a run up to NJ yesterday to visit his aunt in the hospital, so dd#2 and I went to see August Rush. Its a good movie if you can suspend rational thought and reality for a couple of hours. The music was wonderful and I had to wipe my eyes at the end. Hee.

One week from today we will be getting ready to see Clay in DC!!

Safe travels to all going out on the concert circuit. Hope to see some of you in DC and Williamsport. :F_05BL17blowkiss:
