Do you know anyone who knows someone in a district attorney's office. This man is relying on fear to stay safe. It won't stop until she gets help.

Does her company have an HR department? Once you have filed a complaint with the police, then they need to know. Get to a bancruptcy attorney, too. They can help keep your mom from losing your home.

Thank you so much for all of your words of support and advice. It is very scary. I have been trying to convince her that she has to go to the police...she just wants it to be over. She jumps every time the phone rings. Our next door neighbor is a police detective, so I am hoping to get her to talk to him. I just wondered if anyone had any experience with this sort of thing. I tried researching on the internet but most of what I found was related to racketeering, not much on personal extortion.

She lost her mom and her brother AND her little nephew because that asswipe was allowed to roam the streets. Your brother confronting this guy instead of going to the police could be disastrous. I'd think that gatherering what evidence you can to take to them along with threats that he's made would be the way to go.

While I would agree the man should not have been on the street; I lay the majority of the blame on Jennifer's sister...she let the man into her family's lives and more importantly she let him into her son's life. I truly cannot understand any mother thinking that man would be a good person to have in her son's life...was she that desperate for someone to love her that she was willing to put her son at risk?

I don't get it at all and it makes me very sad that so many children are at risk because their mothers make such stupid decisions that could be avoided if they would just think about what they are doing.

Speaking of Claymates, does anyone else dislike that nickname? Personally, since I'm Asian, I prefer to be a Claysian, but... Well, since the whole ongoing meh-fest with my super-conservative friend (who thinks "Claymate" is tacky... I say no tackier than a "Fanilow" but hey), I actually am thinking of myself more as a "Claymate"... I guess I'm just a contrary individual. You say "Claymate" is tacky?
