:cryingwlaughter: Yes you were, keepingfaith. *g* One of the mods PM'ed me and asked if I would mind taking it out. She had had several complaints that is was, get this, "offensive!!!" I said I would certainly NOT take that out. Are you kidding me? :cryingwlaughter: If Clay thought it was offensive he wouldn't of done it. IN FACT, I think Clay knew EXACTLY what he was doing and that is what makes me love it even more. *thud* I did come to take it out later, and replace it with my Claymate gif. I wanted to show my disapproval of "someone" writing UNICEF and telling them that Clay's fans hate the term Claymate. Ifffn you didn't know already, fans meddling like that really doesn't set too well with me. Besides I LOVE the term Claymate.

Couchie I saw your girl Kimberly Locke on VH!'s Celebrity Fit Club last night. I was checking the channel to see what was on, and there she was standing there in front of the judges and crying about something one of the other celebs had said to her before. Sketch? Was his character's name I think. I don't watch this show really, but I stuck around to see Kimberly. She has lost a total of about 21 pounds and now weighs in at 155 and her target goal for next week is to lose 4 pounds. She's a pretty gal. I like her voice. Speaking of AI2 people. I also saw Carmen Rasmusen's new video and song on the country station. I thought her voice sounded good and I liked the song well enough. It was another one of those "family friendly" type songs that Clay would sing. However, her video wasn't that hot and she wasn't "made over" much to look hot. I was surprised to see that she hadn't changed much in appearance. Not that I think she is ugly by any means. It's just that you would of expected them to glamour and sexy her up like they did Katherine McPhee and Carrie Underwood. Maybe she didn't want them to, though.

On topic...........I can't wait to hear what your cousin has to say about the music business Couchie. I sure hope she wants to enlighten us here a bit.

I think we all know why muski. :cryingwlaughter: That Darien Lake picture of Permaswoon's is awesome.

usa_flag.gifHAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!usa_flag.gif

It's after 9:00am, and I'm still in my pj's - I never do that - even on my days off, there's always somewhere to be or something I should be doing first thing in the morning. Today, I don't have to do anything until lunchtime, so I'm lounging around, hitting the boards and getting ready to burn luckiest1 and goldarngirl's new Williamsport montgages. Thanks, guys!

Cool, have they been vaulted at CV? I PMed geekette and she said she will pull them over to the CH vault when she gets back (she's out of town right now). We also have them up at our site, but as always, please don't try downloading them from there unless you are using a download manager like Get Right or the equivalent. The servers have a tendency to crap out half way through otherwise and it can be quite frustrating. Goldarngirl & Luckiest1 Williamsport Montages

Hope everyone in the US is having a great holiday today!

Oh dear Lord. I cannot understand that.

IN FACT, I think Clay knew EXACTLY what he was doing and that is what makes me love it even more.

Now, here is a place where I disagree with you. I think Clay does do things that he knows will make the fans a-titter, wet, etc. (heh), but I see that as mostly things he says -- he's the master of innuendo. For some things, such as this gif (which I have to admit makes me hawt too), I think it's simply something to keep his hands occupied while he's talking (hey, more smut). I really believe he didn't do this on purpose as all, he was just fidgiting! We all do things like that IMO (or at least I do) -- it's just we tune into every.single.thing Clay does. As has been said many times before around here, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Celebrity Fit Club is my latest guilty pleasure show, and KLo has been rocking lately. The asshole who was causing her to cry is Dustin Diamond, otherwise known as Screech from "Saved by the Bell," and also famous for a porno tape now. He's a first class idiot who is using the show simply for the screen time, not for the losing weight aspect. The rest of the cast is totally cool.

Remember a Veteran today!

Good morning everyone.

More pretty pictures I see.

I think Clay does a lot of stuff for effect and I also think he'd be shocked at what we can do with certain clack. heee. I have no idea which is which. Hey, but I do notice that the man can't keep still and has to be moving or tapping or fiddling wtih something. Reminds me of my 7 year old nephew. heee I think what makes Clay great is his dual nature (that Cindy captured in her pin) and it makes it more fun to follow him yet more difficult to figure him out. Probably why he continues to be surprising.

Today is the day to honor veterans... I think I often lose sight of then when I see the bbq. Today, despite all pressure from family...I'm staying home and finishing up my weekend of reflection/change. Family sure knows how to guilt you don't they.

Hee. Well, near my house is a special veterans memorial 'park'---a little monument and lovely landscaping. Every Memorial Day the city holds a special event there---some speeches and awards, songs, etc. It's outside and very pretty. Anyway, as Kenny and I passed it on our way to get some breakfast at our little Mom and Pop restaurant, I told him I wished my mom and her new "friend" (wink wink) at the assisted living residence would walk down and participate at the memorial thingy. (It's within walking distance.)

Well!

On our way back home, people were starting to fill in the rows of chairs and who should we see ?

Yep! My mom and her 'friend'..heh heh heh... :allgood:

Tonight my hubby, two girls and I are going to an Oakland A's baseball game----whoot!

And Whatever made a wonderful post on CH this morning about the uniqueness of one Clayton Aiken and what that means for his concerts, whatever the accompaniment---symphony or rock band or acoustic guitar. I loved it and it reminded me that all that stuff truly IS only the accompaniment.

Regardless what's around Clay on stage? He always, ALWAYS brings it.

Always.

I loved Whatever's post, too. And like her I was more than a little freaked when I heard about the concept of the Jukebox Tour. I remember writing something at the time like....God forbid there are costume changes to represent each era. I REALLY wrote that! When the JBT turned out better than Clay Aiken's feet, that was my last foray into "Please, don't let it be true." Cuzz I know nuthin'

On Thursday night we're going to see Linda Rondstadt perform at Jones Hall with the Houston Symphony. Her discography is so broad and varied over the course of her career that I have no idea what to expect but I know no matter what I will hear beautiful music and a fabulous voice......oh, and as an added bonus I can check out my Clay seats.

Thanks for the idea muski....um....about a ballgame. It's been a rainy weekend here and so two attempts to go to the beach have been aborted. We ended up at Walmart, JC Penney, and then looking at model homes. I think I should check if the Astros are in town tonight.....a baseball game would be way cheaper than a new house.

Yep, he does always bring it.

According to video and photographic evidence, he sure does.

Oh, KarenEh?...Exactly! Linda Ronstadt was maybe the first musical artist that I was semi-obsessed with. I LOVE her voice. When I was in my twenties/thirties, I sang her songs when I did a little singing in nightclubs, etc. I've seen her three times in concert and her voice is so real, so true. Another vocal artist who doesn't need all the techno pro tool crap help.

And you're right about her career. She did it her way--had her moment at the top and then just did the kind of singing she wanted to do. One of my favorite recordings of hers is the one she did with Nelson Riddle and his orchestra (the first one)...Big Band, classic ballads and soaring melodies. And a wonderful voice. She's done a duet cd with Emilou Harris, too. There's a song where she, Emilou and Dolly Parton sing together! And her early "Desperado" is a classic. She makes other people's her own..

Sound familiar?

And she, too, has gone through makeovers many times....Hey, did you know that she and Jim Carrey were together for about six months?

Oh, and I loved her Mexican recording, too! Her father is Mexican and she recorded a full CD of songs in Spanish---I learned all the songs and sang along...

So tell me all about her concert, okay?

I liked some of Linda R. songs....Next week is Wal-Mart Stockholders convention here. They always have performers for it. I might go. Wednesday night is the Eagles. Thursday is Cool & The Gang and Hall & Oates. Now I loved all three of these people in their day. Last year they had Carrie Underwood and Rascall Flatts.

I am so looking forward to this tour. I know that I will love it. Broken Wings and IYDKMBN will be worth the cost of the trip itself. I fully expect Clay to insert a couple of upbeat songs.

ldyjocelyn you are probably right that Clay just has to do something with his hands, but you're raining on my fantasy "ya know? :cryingwlaughter:

I did something productive today. Cleaned off the patio and washed the patio furniture. Fertilized my plants. Then I laid out with Clay under the sun and worked on a tan, while he sang to me. I played all of his AI2 songs again, ATDW and MOAM. I forgot how much I love him singing his own backup. It was relaxing laying there listening to him.

I'm glad y'all had a beautiful day...after aeautiful weekend...it was a wet Monday in our neigbourhood. Our plants do need it but when it rains it tends to get a bit cold. But the leaves continue to come out and I can see lots of flowers starting to bloom too.

The only worry I usually have concerning Clay;s concert is his beautiful voice. He gives so much that at times I fear he won't last till the end of the tour...but time and time again he proves that he is the master of his instrument. I am truly excited about the arrangements of the songs and what new songs he will have. But even if the impossible happens and I don't enjo the music...I know he will make it up with the banter. Can;t wait for what he will have up his sleeves.

I haven't worried about the voice since NAT. OMG he's doing three shows in a row. OMG over 50 shows. heee. I was actually shocked during AI2 at how much of a showman he was. I was suprised by IT. After that, I came to expect excellence. The only thing that screws with the voice is illness which to me is temporary. I still get chills when I think of how he soldiered on during the last tour. Although it probably helps that I don't know much about music other than what feels good to me. Sometimes Ansa and I are talking and she's talking about the voice and I'm like..sounds good to me. hee.

Is it possible to bring Whatever's post over here?

We did our family duty and took the flowers to the graves, which takes several hours of traveling. So I'm glad to be back home.

Thanks for all the song suggestions! And some of the pictures will most likely appear therein... so I'm takin' names for the credits at the end! Thanks, y'all!

Oh Lord, give me patience. Here we are, getting ready to go to the A's game...and Alex comes out with eye makeup and lipstick that would do any Goth wannabe proud.

WTF?

We exchanged some good natured bantering: you know...

"So. How long did that take?

"What take?"

"The eye makeup trainwreck."

"Good one, Mom. I'm not taking it off."

"Didn't ask you to. Just wondered what kind of time we're talking about here--you know, to get that 'I think this really looks good and I know my mom is going to say something, but I don't care' kinda look."

"Another good one, Mom. You're on a roll."

"Indeed."

"I'm still not going to take it off."

"Indeed."

Aaaaaand, we're off!"

muski - you are so very much nicer than I was - I was a complete and total control freak over certain things - not ashamed of it though.

looks down at play...

Do not encourage me in naughty thoughts, chick! I am quite capable of imaging many, MANY interesting things you could be doing right this second. One-handed, even.

I am very bad.

Here is the thing about Whatever's post and a lot of other posts here - I NEVER worried about what Clay was going to do.

Here is a list of things I did not worry about

1. Clay losing Idol - hey I ws in the middle of a zoning fight (4 years later and thousnds of dollars and we won!! - at least one, we lost the other one, although my testimony on finale night was the most quoted one. Actually, my testimony was one of the deciding factors on the case we won.) I watched it on tape at 1 AM sort snoozing off in between - anyway I did not believe that Clay could lose until the ET "week of Ruben and, OH, Clay forgot the words". Then I kind of didn't think he would win.

2. Clay would disppear after idol - nope - he was too good and the internet was just abuzz about him and he got a contract .

3. That Clay would not be good in any concert - how could that thought even enter my mind - he was good!!!!

I did not think it could be worth seeing him in the AI tour until I read about the show - then I loved it.

4. Worry about Clay concert content - hey it is Clay, he sings, I am there.

5. Worry about his voice - he has one strong voice and can afford the best doctors. One thing i have learned from idol is that they just have to go on even when they are sick - it is a job. I admit beig a bit worried he might accidently eat an almond on a show night though.

6 Worry that if he sang Solitaire every night or BOTW that he would ruin his voice - heh he sang both in the middle of a 3 hour show - that man is strong.

7 Worry about what is on his album - he records it, I will buy it.

8 His future - He is smart, he is talented and has a sense of humor and wins people over. He may have rough spots, but what the heck, we all do,

9 His life - hey, he does not worry about mine and I am not really always that nosy about other people. I do have some nosy moments, but mostly, I am busy doing my own thing. Trust me, you do not want to know what I am busy with right now. TMI - really TMI

I Think this is why I have a low tolerence for angst. I either don't care enough or I am insensitive.

Hey, Muski!! BWAH to your makeup story!

A lot of Mothers would have a cow about my younger daughter's hair. She doesn't overdo makeup for the most part, but she wants radical things done with her hair. She wanted a makeover earlier this year, so we cut off her long hair and got her a cute, mid-length layered look. That wasn't enough - we had to dye it. She has blonde hair, but wanted it very light blonde with dark brown lowlights. So I did that for her, nice Mom that I am. It actually looked kind of cute. :D

Then, a couple of weeks ago, she announces that she wants BLUE hair. And not just highlights, she wants the whole thing blue. This is my daughter that has just been diagnosed with a math learning disability, (it's called dyscalculia) and has struggled this year with depression, poor kid.

So, hubby and I talk it over, and decide that if she really needs to express her individuality, hair isn't a bad way to do it. There are worse ways to express oneself during adolescence - like truancy, vandalism, theft, and promiscuity, to name a few. Since she isn't doing any of that stuff, and has been really trying to do a good job in school, we decide to let her express her adolescent need for individuality with blue hair.

Off to the store we go. There are many nice colors of blue, but DD doesn't like any of them. We finally find what she wants - bright turquoise. It's a beautiful color in the bottle, but on hair? Hmmm. At least it's semi-permanent. And the bottle says to color the hair light blonde first, which is what we had already done.

We put the turquoise product in her hair about a week ago. And now, after a few washings, it looks - green. I think it's going to be blondish hair with a weird greenish glow for a good long time. Somehow, it didn't retain the pretty bluish turquoise color.

So now, I go out in public with my gangly adolescent daughter, who has green hair. Oh, yeah. It's a good way to get noticed!! BWAH.

One of these days I'll be where you are Play. I'm almost there actually -- but can't say it wasn't a process or that I never angsted from the beginning. To be honest, if my mom hadn't been living at emergency rooms when my ATDW came out somebody would have probably had to stage an intervention for me. I had other things on my mind so wasnt consumed by the mood of the fandom..

I never worried about him going away because he was awarded a record contract on finale night. I wasn't even worried when he talked about missing teaching. heee. OK I just checked all your items and none of those are on my worry list. I do have my own short list that probably are not elevated to angst status but none of it has to do with his singing or concerts. I just get excited about the thought of listening to him sing live and to see what he comes up with. I think we've gotten the most information about who he is musically from his touring. And I love that he takes chances and tries new things. Three Xmas concerts in cosecutive years and they all have their own flavor. Can't wait to see what he comes up with this year.

cute story gibby.

Looking at play's list -- I'd have to say that early on, I fell victim to her number 1 and number 2 points. I really was worried about not seeing him again. OTOH, that's what got me to the fanboards, and cemented my fandom. So, it really worked out the best for me.

Other than that, though -- I totally agree with the rest of the list. Life is too short to worry about someone that as much as I like to think I "know" them, I really don't.

I do still admit to worries about him though -- and they usually involve travel. As much as I know he's being treated well by UNICEF, the idea of him going to some of these countries, with their sometimes unstable governments, or unstable weather, makes me nervous. Also, the night of the Detroit Christmas concert in 2004. That long bus ride in the snow -- I was a nervous wreck for him the entire day.

Other than that....I've got nuthin'. Loving the family stories (GO MUSKI MOM!!!!). And Gibby -- I like your ideas about parenting. It's just hair.

Hmmmm....I think I've said that a few times before on this board. *g*
