ETA: this is for bottlecap:

YeeHaw!

I'd say thanks, but Flash Player stuff is one of those things, along with smug mug photos and youtube that I can't access at work. I'll make a note to check back on this stuff when I get home!

I'd also say "Pip, pip, cheerio" but then I'm afraid I'd rile up merrieeee or something.

Geez can this topic be more "inclusive"?

My reaction to what I consider annoying fan behavior - I will tap people on the shouldeer (assault?) and ask them to stop if it is v. annoying, or I will wait for it to stop. What actions have I felt invested enough to attempt stopping - people holding up signs in front of my face or, if they are next to me, people behind them, someone trying to squeeze into my seat (the old push to the center, I have done it as well), camera flashes (they hurt when they are next to your eye!), waving glow sticks in front of my face (This usually refers to people sitting next to me, not in front of me, ugh, armpits in your face - had one person switch hands, hee) or someone's camera, I commented during intermission to some girls that I would appreciate if they did not shout out in chorusI Love You Clay during quiet songs, others had told them before me and my sister made me feel bad about saying that. And then there is cutting in line, etc - either on a board or in porson - both get called out.

I don't think anyone has ever danced too much near me, just lucky I guess. I have not stopped people from eeeeing, even though it can hurt your ears or a lot of other fan type stuff. Not everyone has the internalized fandom I have. I envy a lot of people with their freedom of emotion and the fearless seat jumping. Confession: there was a show where Fear attended in probably the worst seat ever and two of us sneaked her in so there were 3 of us in 2 seats in the 7th row, none of us skinny enough to justify it.

Naming people I don't know why you can name some people and not name others, I am assuming it has to do with board policy where people don't name members, not that it doesn't cereate hard feelings when you are a target of hate named or not. Then there are people that have already been named vs people who have not been publically name (think author vs Clay calling people by names vs people who have stiffed others on tickets more than once vs people posting their names) and then there are the people only talked about in reference (the person always negative, the woman who walked in Clay's Mother's house, etc.) that are never named openly. It seems an uneven playing field, but I just follow others and do not initiate naming people because most people have better judgement on that sort of thing.

Racism and the fandom, Oh, it exists in this fandom. I have heard about things that Quiana has received in the mail, I have no doubt about things that were e-mailed to Star, and, sadly, Ruben is still being trashed by a lot of fans in this fandom and not just because he won (let's just say I was shocked to be called a "Ruben lover" by a fan others have long admired when I found a quote taken out of context on a board and tried to correct it during a Ruben pile-on LAST YEAR, I don't think that was meant just as a fan war comment. I have heard other fans talking and I am not so dumb that I can't see the undercurrent in the fandom when someone complains about Clay having black back up singers. Stupidity abounds in any mob and this is one large and diverse fandom. People are not going to change just because they are a fan, people are people. I say this knowing that all sorts of prejudices and bad information live inside of me and I live in one of the more complex and disturbed counties with many racial issues, involving many different races, and all these issues are made even worse by politicians who want to stir up issues to keep power. I always say it is a diverse fandom, it makes it hard to control and includes all sorts of warts.

That photo of Clay and Angela - it makes me uncomfortable - I have a very large personal space and, unless I am making out with someone, I don't want them in my face. Clay apparently has a small personal space. I also had a young frined that wanted to be a performer, she also had a small personal space, she came up and sang near my face once, I shoved her away, it was deafening! She was LOUD! I really don't know how performers sing so close to each other. but I also realize how performers need to do this, and I think a lot of the interaction that Clay and Angela have shows good acting instincts, I like the way they always look surprised when Quiana starts singing Bills. Good showmanship

Glowing teeth I posted them as an alternate solution to the glow stick issue on the CH and no one responded. sniff

Clay commenting on the fan issues - I don't think he could ignore them - the booing was just so out of place when we are supposed to be enjoying ourselves and in a concert where we are supposed to love the star, more appropriate at wrestling or a Kid Rock concert. Quiana called it out first, but she often strikes me as the "moral leader" of the group and she often calls out inappropriate actions on stage. I think that is why Clay treats her differently than Angela, who is more like a peer. The comment that Quiana made about seeing more than we know - I do believe it was referring to what they saw from the stage and not on the boards. I do think they recognize the first row repeaters (or Scarlett filming!).

Eeee-haw I admit to wanting to shout that out in Frisco, but I kept it in, my loss.

Inward retrospection is a good thing, I do it all the time. I am far from perfect, but try to keep learning. Ah well, phone calls to make, things to do.

Lawd, yes...that picture does me in everytime I stare gaze drool over glance at it. :hubbahubba: Makes me have all KINDS of thoughts and feelings that I ain't ashamed to own, lemmtellya.

Couchie...thanks for your post. :F_05BL17blowkiss: You know, about the Clangela fiction. I've written about the Clocke as one of the storylines in my epic Nothing But the Truth and then of course the Clyra in Southern Heat (shameless name-dropping plugs there, heh) To me, they're a natural because of the chemistry that is UNDENIABLE between him and Tyra (and to a lesser extent with Kim, although it was more the FANS who wanted that pairing, I think), but you're right about 'writing about what you know'

Just ask my Literary Consultant, KAndre! :cryingwlaughter: I mean, my heart (not to mention other parts) was in the right place when I wrote the Clyra, but what the hell do I know about African American women's relationships with their hair? And although the interracial issue is always THERE, I've chosen not to make it a pivotal element in my actual storylines; I prefer to focus more on the HAWTness factor, you know? :Thud: Because I write for fun and want the readers to enjoy, too. I like to think that things I write might stay with a reader and cause her to think about some things (no, not just THAT!), too....but I'm not out to write social commentary, per se.

I had a weird dream, I just remembered. Something came about where Clay was answering some people's questions and he revealed that he and Jamie had actually dated! They dated before she met her husband (who I think is Ray's nephew?), but then ended up marrying into the family. Turns out that they struggled with that awkward connection once she became his 'cousin'...

And in my dream I started wondering....wondering....how that would be and how odd it might be for them now, with her traveling all the time with him, etc. And that made me start thinking other things---long tours, lonely nights in hotel rooms and tour buses and....

oh goodgrief....

STOP THAT, MUSKI! :scream:

Oh, and by the way, folks. You all are CMSU with your posts about that "OhMiBod" thingy! It's as if you all just ASSUMED I actually ordered one of them! BWAH! Would I waste my money on such a tiny little thang? Hell, no! Besides, when I'm listening to Clay sing to MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, I don't need anything else....

if you get my drift.... :whistling-1:

You know like I did when he sang Mandy.

:cryingwlaughter: *snort*

I already said what I had to say about Orlando yesterday, so I'll spare ya all. :) But I do agree with this:

I think Clay treats it just as it should be - a fact, a descriptor, neither good nor bad, something that just is, and therefore to be discussed.
God, remember that foul marianne chick (was that her name?) who was totally blatantly racist about Clay's back-up singers? Nasty chicky... yeeesh. I imagine that yes, C/A/Q/and J have seen some interesting behaviors... skeery.

rohdy (welcome)... when I read your post I was thinking... why can't someone just go explain themselves directly to the kid. Forget hints... Hints don't work...eyerolling doesn't work...bitching loudly near the person doesn't work...putting up messages on a bulletin board doesn't work... All those things push people away from compromise. A direct conversation is always the way to go, IMO. That kid does have every right to play his music loud... at times. Nobody knows that he's feeling a "need for coolness"... He's likely not thinking anything except, Cool Song... rock on! People need to talk to each other, not about each other if they want something to change. Compromise can't happen when one of the parties is left out of the conversation. Anywho, I guess I was really talking about fans, not the kid, but hopefully you get my gist.

Did couchie figure out her avatar?

Don't worry, play...I will get you your OWN pair of LCD teeth. And will take pictures.

Confession: I had to make a dude eventually stop barking next to me - he had a choice of stopping that freakin', incredibly loud, oddly high pitched, painful yelping - or being gutted.

Oh yeah, marianne - she of the "I have a single black friend/SIL/employee and therefore am not racist" fame. Beyotch.

OK, muski, confess - you ordered the "arena rock" version of the "OhMiBod" thingy, didn't you! :eusa_whistle:

Aw, play, to paraphrase Clay, "Sometimes the spirit of Billy Ray just moves you!" Next time, just let it out. Unless next time happens to be in the middle of "Mary Did You Know" or something.

Play, I saw your post about the teeth over at the CH, I clicked on your link and just about fell off my chair. Can you imagine Clay looking out in the audience at a sea of those teeth? I'm not sure even Clay could gain his composure after that.

Ahem. There was a pair of those teeth in the row in front of me in Orlando - a two fisted glowstick waver and when she turned to the side, the teeth almost blinded me!

I think Ethel has a good heart and I care a lot about her. When it's just us talking, she's wonderful and I love to share thoughts and stories about our families. Sometimes she gets carried away and I count 2 times in 4 years when this affected me, once at the Borgata JBT and then this year at the Knoxville bus line. Each time, I was VERY annoyed at the action and I wanted something done about it. Both times, when she realized that she was affecting other people she corrected things and/or made ammends. I think Clay could use a lot more fans like Ethel.

============================================================================

Speaking of bad fans... how about this?

Scarlett'sSon: So, I think it's a sure thing now. I'll be finishing in 3 and a half years.

Scarlett: Squeeeeee! {{{{lots of hugs}}}} That's wonderful! I'm so proud of you! That's great! {{{{{Lots more squeeing and hugging and kissing... }}}}

Then, a v. v. short while later...

Scarlett: You did so well! You're so ... so... uh, does that mean you'll graduate in December? Um, when in December?

Scarlett'sSon: (who knows her too well and can see where she's headed): It'll be on the December 6-7-8 weekend.

Scarlett: (suppresses the words "does it take a whole weekend to graduate?" and thinks "whew, thank goodness I haven't bought tickets to Albany yet") Yay, be sure to mark it off on our yahoo calendar!

Have fun, luckiest! Stay safe!

Good afternoon FCA!!!

Read all your thoughts on Orlando, Ethel & the Crappy fan, vibrators, glowing teeth, pip pip & cheerios, etc. I have my own thoughts but since I don't want to get banned on my 2nd day, I'll keep mum!!!

Have fun, Lucky! Toast a s'more for meeeee!

Confession: I did not like Clay's look at the beginning of this tour. I have since realized that it just takes me awhile to get used to things... because, I thought Wow, he's really looking good in WPB and Orlando... his hair must have grown, or he's done something... er, and then I went back looking at pictures from early in the tour...and he looks exactly the same! Heh! I'm an idiot!

And sometimes... he has a pretty damn cute ass too!

Ha, claygo frankly unless you're one of those porn spam bots (we have Muski, we don't need no stinkin' bots!), I wanna see what you think would be you banned!

Scarlett, I am so proud of you suppressing those comments. And if you had bought Albany tickets, I could see Scarlett'sSon being forced to take "TV Them Song Appreciation" for just one more semester...

Sorry Kandre, I'm not biting! Well maybe I am inclined, but nah, going to sit on my hands for a bit!

Let's suffice it to say that I can be a bit critical (or insert any word(s) of choice) towards anyone that feels a "need" to criticize anyone near and dear to my heart!

Hey! You talkin' 'bout ME?

With all the librarians we have around here to correctly classify the fiction that I write, I'd think that by now we all know I pen "erotic fiction/romance"...NOT (shudder) "porn"....

Please, a little respect here. B)

Of course, if you'd LIKE me to write porn, I could give it the ole' college try, I suppose.... .

Hey no fair!! If I can be opinionated and obnoxious on my first try...you can, too!

YSRN...you are right of course. But mine is just as example. I bet in real life...some one has asked the kid.

But I guess it's more an exercise in how someone right to have fun often invades someones right to a peaceful evening.

It's all about compromise.

I bet most don't want e to stop or go away....just tone it down a bit.

I would like to thank Couchie once again for providing a place where I don't have to worry about what talking about the boards on the boards means. I never got that or why it was so bad, so I would just say something stupid instead of meaningful instead. Yes, somethings do have to be spelled out for me. attitude14.gif

As for shouting out, BC, yes, I still have to learn message52.gif

To Luckiest - Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back. Oh, and have a nice trip, good bye.

eta... didja all know it is utterly uncool to wear the T-shirt of the band (or ANY band) to a concert?!
