That stubble is going to be the death of me. I just know it. One day, when all the stars align and pigs sprout wings, I'll win one of the new format M&Gs and smoosh my face up against his and feel that stubble and then burst into flame (is it flame? or flames? I've always wondered).

definitely plural Mandler - everything with Clay comes in multiples, ya know :eusa_whistle:

I think the other thing that differentiates Clay and bible is that Micheal always projected this rat pack persona thats suppoed to be cool. He also was always marketed to an older demographic.

Clay had the geek persona that he always embraced and sadly enough...in this society it seems like its always ok to make fun of geeks.

I think another big difference between Michael Buble and Clay is the type of music they sing. The covers Buble does appeal to people in a different way. He seems to have hit a need, or maybe more of a desire, that some music lovers have to hear that genre. And he does it well. I'm not a Buble fan. I bought one CD early on and tired of it quickly, but I can see the appeal. Clay is doing covers that I don't see the same or even a parallel market for. He does them exquisitely, but if the interest in that music isn't there, I don't think that will make a difference to many people outside of his existing fandom.

And he is only a covers singer (IMO - his orginals leave me cold) and was marketed as such (a throwback) from the get go.

Another one of my " AI2 change underwear moments." :Thud:

Even Slimon Scowell gives him props. Did I mention the eye boink Clay gives me through the camera? :eusa_whistle:

I really miss this Clay. There is nothing like watching him stand there and seriously interpret and sing a song. Without the Aiken lyric generator, the giggles, the duets, and the jokes, etc. Just pure unadulterated talent. God I love that.

I think Buble is smarmy. I just don't see it, but I do like 'Home'.

I've watched AI from the very first minute it aired. I was channel-hopping and happened across the first episode and thought, 'who the fuck is that British guy?' and continued to watch. I remember really liking Kelly and Justin and thought Tamyra got robbed.

Eagerly awaited the 2nd season and when Clay walked out, I honestly thought they planted a ringer. Then he opened his mouth. My friend and I called each other up and exclaimed 'did you hear that guy's voice?'. I loved Clay but I fell in lust during 'Solitaire' and I felt like I was contributing to the delinquency of a minor because he looked so freaking young.

Thank God he grew up :lmaosmiley-1:

Of course, the older he gets, the older I get. Life's a bitch.

Clayzor, I LOVED AI!Clay!

But he still does that. MOAM? WY? EIH? LAA? He's still all that, and oh so much more.

My absolute favorite AI2 moment! And I think it was pure brilliance on Clay's part to sing Grease in the second half and show how versitile he is ( no matter what Simon thought)

I guess I should of been clearer. I wasn't referring to his cds. He is always pure unadulterated talent on them. I was referring to his concerts. To me, his concerts have become more about getting the laugh than about serious music. JMO but I prefer his concerts to be more like his solo tour. I know he has fans who love the comedy more. However I miss the the days of his concerts being about his music.

I don't know if this one has been posted before - but if it has I need to turn in my Claymate card for missing it. Can there be any wonder why my fantasy is to put my lips on that throat?

Good god, y'all. It oughta be a crime not to see the sexy in this man.

Okay, before I read any more in the thread to catch up, I neeeeeeed (just watched Clay's UM from AI, heh) someone with photoshopping skills to clean up Clay's nasal foliage in this picture so that I can declare it perfect. Thank you. :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Gawd. :Thud:

Ever have one of those days when you just want to rip somebody's head off and jam it on the top of your microphone stand and wave it around as a warning to everyone to stop annoying the crap out of you? Just me? Alrighty then.

Ah, I've finally caught up. I think I've pretty much figured out the daily topics of conversation on this board: package, butt, tongue, and stubble.

My kind of place.

PermaSwooned posted this gorgeous gem - taken as Clay left the stage for the last time in Orlando.

What a gorgeous man - thank you Bottlecap (((BC))) & PermaSwooned!

For all the butt lovers, that would include me.

OH! Just.kill.me.now. My very first 'right click save' gif. May the first Pants of Perfection live forever!

And Buble? Makes me want to do an injury to somebody. You can NOT turn on Canadian radio and not hear this guy. B.O.R.I.N.G. I'll take my Sinatra wannabe's in the form of Harry Connick Jr., thankyaverymuch.
Buble is one of those artist who doesn't affect me much one way or the other. On his covers of standards, I don't think he does enough to make the songs his own. How's that for an AI type critique? I liked the original song of "Home" better than his covers.

I'm with you atinal - I guess i like his voice (don't care for his persona though - ick) but his covers become boring after you hear so many (as are Harry C's), but I loved 'Home' and really love his current, 'Everything.'

I love the soft, svelte-voiced crooners - including all on Clay's *g* crooners CD. Anyone familiar with Chris Rice? another good one, though not 100% crooner - he mixes it up more

I think it's because Buble established himself as a crooner from the get go. You knew he was Frank Sinatra Remix. That's not bad. I like Frank too...It's just that he and the public knew what to expect right away. I don't think either the public, his fans, and maybe not even Clay, knows what to expect from him yet.

Great observation laughn. I would only slightly disagree in that I feel the general public think they know what they expect from Clay, because most remember AI2. His fans have seen so much more, so we half-expect him to head off in a different direction at any time. Whether he will, or whether he'll ever plant himself in one direction (hope not!), remains to be seen. I still find myself standing in the "anything and everything - including the phone book" Clay check-out line. What makes being a fan so much fun is watching and reading the positive NJU reactions when he steps outside the crooner box, but also their OTT reactions to his voice when he stays firmly in it.

I don't now, I was interested in Clay early on, but not enamored. I thought Motown the musical was rather magnetic, but BUMB was the big time sale - I swear when I saw that it struck me how Clay was so professional and polished and the rest were amatuer hour.
Same for me Play! I fell hard that night! Another piece of clack I have watched more times than I can count. The joy on his face knocks me out everytime and his 'buttercup' smile at the end - - - yeah, I was such a goner that I gave it a nickname - oh my! I can't help it, he still gets me everytime.

Speaking of watching clack a.lot. - anyone else remember every little bit - every turn, every look, every outfit, every stage background, every time he shifted the mic from one hand to the other, every everything, from his AI2 performances? I'm looking forward to Rewind too, but I know I'll be looking for the fast-forward during anything without him in it. He's the only reason I watched then and now. Sometimes things change - sometimes they don't. :)

I was talking about the concert, too. Yes, he did fool around here and there at the beginning of a couple songs. But the majority of performances of those songs I mentioned were straight-up, full on, Clay Aiken. I think we must have been at different concerts. Yep, the funny was about the funny. But the music? Was about the music. For me anyway.

And the Vox. Always the Vox!

shadylil...this CMSU and made me LOL and LQTM and :lmaosmiley-1: and :cryingwlaughter: and all that stuff. 'Cuz I've done the math more times than I want to confess to and it pisses me off to no end that what you speak here is true.

:cryingwlaughter:

I saw the UM face off on YouTube and one thing that was interesting (not Pickler's version or the other guy's until the very end) was that Clay's was the shortest

BWAH! I wanted to say that....just had to....BWAH!

then Pickler's, then the Australian guy's version was about 2 and a half minutes....Clay had about 1:50 to deliver, Kellie about 2:25 and so on. Yet in the short time Clay had, he held me from the first note. I really couldn't get into the last guy's version until he was almost finished---just sorta boring, although there's nothing wrong with his voice. Kellie's was just bad, IMO.

I remember being totally bugged, though, by Clay's handling of the mic

BWAH! I just had to sy that...just had to....BWAH!

during that song. Back and forth, back and forth...hand to hand, hand to hand.....back and forth....

uh....excuse me....I need to take a moment.

Sacrelidge!! Someone slap her!

I like Buble well enough. His voice is pleasant. It doesn't cause me to have a physical reaction in the way Clay's does. Which is why I go to Clay's concerts over and over and over again.

AI2 UM.....does anyone else really get off on the Adams apple during the 'YOU" in "Will yoooooouuuuuu be miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine? I could watch that over and over again. And I have.

Back to work....:(

Loved watching this again! Still get chills when Robin Gibb says during his critique ". . .and this is the way the song was meant to be sung." Can't imagine any greater compliment for a performer. Thanks for the bring Clayzorback!

Why as a matter of fact, that did help. Also, the old standbys - that probably do wonders for your students, laughn - a nap and some chocolate helped, too. :imgtongue:

muski, the game of hot potato with the mic also bugged me from week to week near the end of AI. Pick a hand and stick with it dude!

God, I love AI Clay.

I know all the propaganda and crap associated with the show. I know that he's moved beyond the show, and I should be happy about that, which I am in most every way. But sometimes I just miss the excitement of discovering how talented he is and being constantly surprised by it. I still am surprised, but it's in a different way. I still contend that the man does some of his best work when he's under the most pressure. I think the competition brought that out.

And dang it...I miss seeing him every week!
