Cotton
DH had a bluegrass PBS show on today - and the line By and By kept recurring in the song. It's wasn't Sweet By and By. But I just smiled. Hey- My Daddy's daddy was a Methodist preacher so I grew up on The Old Rugged Cross and Red River Valley and such so this kind of stuff is in my bones! I love it. (But it's not high on my play count!) But I'm glad it's a bonus and not on the regular album.
Claygasm
I think that his voice is wonderful on this song. Doesn't fit the album, I don't think but I like listening to his view. And its goooood. this song has that Clay flourish on "wise." the flourish is missing on all the other songs and I think this is a good thing. I read that this song was supposed to be a a gospel album. I meant "voice" not "view." I actually think it fits very well. It speaks to learning one HUGE lesson - that we can either sleepwalk through life or open our eyes and realize that each of us can make a difference. in the world or in the lives of others. Its sort of the ultimate lesson in life.
liney23
I've only listened to this one once, so can't say much, but I remember it from some 40 celebrity singer thingy, not from the Muppets. It would be good to end a Christmas tour with.
Couch Tomato
Well I wouldn't know a muppet song if it hit me in the head. Even my neice and nephew who have turned me on to everything Hanna Montanna and spongebob...don't watch the muppets. It's one of those inspirational songs they can use in rising up from the downtrodden life type movies. Anyway, I like it, and I want every single song Clay ever recorded to show up one day. The bonus track is a great way to do it. And on this note I have to leave..company coming and I need to do a few things. I haven't unwrapped my walmart CD so haven't heard that bonus song yet. Can't wait to read your comments.
Ansamcw
KAndre fights an almost irresistible urge to go, "Bork, bork, bork!" It just sound like a total gospel Muppet song to me! It's cute but not a reliable repeater. It reminds me of an old school "Sweet Bye and Bye". Y'all are right - totally sweet southern gospel. Maybe a little bluegrass-y. yup thats why even if I love it...I don;t really think it fits this CD...

Claygasm
The first time I heard this song I immediately LOVE it and still do. One of my favorites on the whole album!! Makes me feel good somehow. And his voice is sublime on it!
jmh123
I'll never forget this song in Chautauqua with the rain pouring down. It was Canandaigua- and it was AMAZING!!!! Oops - always get those two names mixed up. It was AMAZING, wasn't it? Wish that the downloads of it could have done it justice. I think it was one of those "you had to be there " moments. Definitely. It's etched in my memory forever. I admit I tend to do happy dances of joy at the end of my relationships... Back when I had 'em, I didn't, but I do a happy dance about deciding not to go there anymore, about being on my own and happy to be that way, satisfaction with that way of being. I actually think it fits very well. It speaks to learning one HUGE lesson - that we can either sleepwalk through life or open our eyes and realize that each of us can make a difference. in the world or in the lives of others. Its sort of the ultimate lesson in life. You're good at this lyrics thing.

T hat's why I think it fits. There is a sort of theme lyrically, but not musically.

cha cha trusty
well LAA didn't fit on ATDW and it was the itunes bonus download track.... Now this song is the itunes bonus track..... and it doesn't really fit either. I hope that doesn't mean the next album will be gospel!! laljeterfan
OK- got it going and am listening again. I do love the part where he is dueting with himself. Sounds great!
cagney1950
I agree that Clay's voice is sublime. Such beauty to hear. I am making a cd of clay songs from across albums for my mother and this one will be on it. Somewhere, someone posted a post showing the album it was supposed to be on. I just don't know if it was released. I'm glad we have it.

playbiller
Uh, I , uh, like it. makes me want to dance - but I don't kitty dance, I doggie dance, or rather Holly dances with me on her hind legs.
Ansamcw
I think I just associated this so much with my christmas album so it seems like it would fit AIW more...but CG you are right when it comes to the theme.

Cotton
Have not checked these at all! I haven't listened to this one enough to judge. Forget I Ever KNew You lyrics I lie awake while the rest of the world sleeps happily I'm tossing and turning in the dark I try to make some sense of the mess that calls itself my life Just wish I knew where I should start I'd go back in time if I could and erase you from my mind for good I get so tired of trying Maybe I should just... Fly away let my heart pretend My dream comes true and the story ends I get on my feet and start again And forget I ever knew you I leave the past and rise above I let you go and fall in love With everything that I'm made of Say goodbye to all I've been through And forget I ever knew you I turn the page I've got nothing to say but I'll start writing anyway Something that gets me moving on again Stuck in this place I'm putting one foot in front of the other foot Maybe today I'll let this be over and done again I'd make up my mind if I could And leave this all behind me for good I'm getting tired of trying So maybe I should just... Fly away let my heart pretend My dream comes true and the story ends I get on my feet and start again And forget I ever knew you I leave the past and rise above I let you go and fall in love With everything that I'm made of Say goodbye to all I've been through And forget I ever knew you The sun can shine a little brighter now I'm gonna make it on my own somehow And I will start feeling alive again, yeah I'll start living life with no regrets 'Cause the best hasn't happened yet I'm just fine with you out of my life I'll just, fly away let my heart pretend My dream comes true and the story ends I get on my feet and start again And forget I ever knew you I leave the past and rise above I let you go and fall in love With everything that I'm made of Say goodbye to all I've been through And forget I ever knew you And forget I ever knew you I never knew you Say goodbye to all I've been through And forget I ever knew you
Claygasm
CG... gotta say I love your avie... what a great moment! Even if watching it is like watching a disco ball.... Thanks! He does look like he's on speed, doesn't he. I need someone who knows how to slow it down for me! Ansa - I had actually never heard it before so I only know its a uppet song cause I read it here, so it definitely isn't a Christmas song for me. cha cha trusty
I don'tthink the lyrics fit too well - until he gets to the part that's more syncopated, Like the part where the electric guitar comes in!
KAndre
I can see what this was a bonus track - it's very odd rhythmically to me.
duckyvee
I've only put this song on twice, and both times I lost interest partway through and didn't listen to the end. This one does nothing for me.
