I am one who can understand if you are still struggling a little bit, but stopped reminding us. Take time, rethink what bothers you, and stay away from the boards for awhile. I do think Clay is perfect, nobody is, but the constant negativity drives me nuts. I have a total of 6 posts at the OFC. In the Spam thread back in late October I reacted to someone who said that the second time he was doing Spam he was overacting to the point he needed professional help to staighten up the part. Then a few people started being critical and agreeing with her. I came on and stated I am tired of the negativity and bashing of Clay. When I see the show I will give my own opinion. Before I knew it the said person was writing that I had no right to say that to her, that she can voice her opinion. I wrote back I was not aiming my thought just on her alone. Before I new it my statement about negativity was edited out by the moderators. I came back and said this is why I only have so few post and would not be back to comment further and would remain a lurker. I have to say the person who started it all did PM me and apologize for being so strong on her reaction to what I said. I told her that she believed what she said about his acting and I would form my own opinion once I saw the show. That we all want him to succeed and it is hard to hear criticism all the time.

PWing because, I couldn't help myself--Good quote

QUOTE (djs111 @ Feb 15 2009, 07:57 AM)

Heeee.....I am actually a lot more squicked out at the constant need, by some, on other boards, to make every Clay comment into a specifically gay comment, as if Clay has turned his entire wardrobe into rainbow tshirts or something.

Clay did not want to be defined by his sexuality, but some of his fans are doing just that - to them he is not a singer who happens to be gay, he is a gay person who happens to be a singer. I swear I could actually hear the construction noise from that particular box to put him in being built.

To me, the constant need to stress the gay thing seems just as "off" as whatever is labeled homophobia. But that's just me; I know how to scroll.

Claytonic You think THIS is agressive and angry? You don't know me very well then. My temperature didn't even rise. I wasn't even passive agressive let alone agressive and I can do both with the best of them.

If people are afraid to post their opinion then they need to be tougher. It's ok to be the voice of one or two or three. The personalities on this board and most boards are strong. Scarlett has no problem putting me in my place on this topic. This convo can end with you believing I'm a whackjob and a hypocrite and honestly I wouldn't care and we can go back to talking about David Soul's blue eyes. You'll never get an I have spoken from me unless it breaks the ultimate rule.

If you think this board is only allowed happy happy joy joy talk I don't know where you've been and don't go anywhere near the archives. Anything is allowed here, even topics relegated to back rooms is allowed here right out in the open as long as Clay is respected (ultimate rule). I was already told that Clay being respected was an unclear rule but I can't help that. Hopefully will know it when they write it.

Board on board talk... we let that rule go about 6 months after we opened. Lots of people don't like it and they feel the same as you. Some have left but guess what - it's a board philosophy not a personality flaw. As far as I'm concerned the fandom or any part of it is NOT off limits and never will be.

I guess different words have different meanings for people. If someone goes on and on and on about something, to me, they are upset about it. Otherwise, they wouldn't be using up so much negative and aggressive energy to express themselves.

to quote jamar.. ding ding ding. We obviously do have different meanings. Here's another difference. On and on and on is not a 3 hour time frame. It's DAYS and weeks and the air is permeated with nothing but this topic. That won't happenI'll cut off my own fingers before it does.

I've edited out about a paragraph... longwinded is my posting style. I'll have to take lessons from wandacleo. :lilredani:

Now, I'm going to KILL those kids. I got up to pee and can't because my bathroom is locked from the inside. I've lived here 5 years and I didn't even know it locked from the inside. This has their cute little fingerprints all over it. I called the answering service and this isn't considered an emergency enough to call maintenance.Alrighty then.

ETA: Geeze gbmifan.. who cares if someone says he overacts. But to say he needs professional help? This to me is where the respct goes out the window.

office opens in 1 hour 20 minutes..oh wait..I can go to the club house..DUH. I believe they have a bathroom but I pretty much avoid any place with work out equipment. :hysterical:

Not feelin' ya'll on the gay thing but nothing has much bothered me. Everyone will adjust a bit differently and as long as they are here and accepting I'm ok.

Of course that is true, but why let it bother you, it is THEIR problem, they are living with the misery of having a closed mind and heart. Why allow it to perpetuate the angst in yourself over THEIR problem. I don't see Clay weeping over it, in fact, he appears to be getting on immensely well with the life he wanted for himself. So I take my lead from him and allow people to be who they are, and if they are important to me, I will be there for them IF they want me to be, just as I hope they will be there for me when I hit a bump in the road and get stuck for a while.

because Im human and things bug me..I dont let it ruin my fandom, I dont let it affect my RL, but its nice to be able to vent and talk about it with people who agree and understand.

I hope you at least have a pot to pee in. Do that first and then look at the door knob. If it has a tiny hole right in the middle you need to find something straight and rigid that will fit into that hole. Inside the hole is a tiny button that when pressed will release your joy. Oops, I mean unlatch the door. A nail or an ice pick or an unbent paper clip will do. Stick it straight in and press when you hit something solid. If you miss the mark your implement will go in too far without hitting resistance. Withdraw and try again.

If there is no hole you need a screwdriver to take off the door knob.

oh my goodness yes! to me some people are making it into a bigger deal then it should be, and that isnt good either...Im completely ok with him being gay, but it's like TR Knight said when he came out "I hope that people find out that this isnt the most interesting thing about me" just like being straight isnt the most interesting or important thing about me (especially dateless HAHA) for me it isnt a big deal, because it shouldnt be a big deal, Ive never been interested in that part of his life so it was easy for me to adjust..I dont give it a second thought normally..he's just clay.

If Clay ever did anything that I couldnt support, then I would walk away quietly..I would not sit back and become the complete opposite of the person that I was..because thats what a lot of people have done..theyve turned from completely supportive, to haters...and its sad..that would never happen to me...he has given me joy, and music and friends for 6 years and I would walk away without a word..he deserves that much more than my ridicule.

I dont see anything that should make people afraid of posting an opinion...Ive been on the minority end of the spectrum...try not minding the jenna bush photo's....or loving the green sweater..yes its painful, but i post anyways

and while im on a roll, I see they started yet another thread on how the OFC can be better..another place to say clay doesnt care lol

My computer hates me! I was downloading a bunch of Clay stuff last night and I just left the connection open and went to bed since it said it was going to take 5 hours... I wake up and it still says it's going to take 5 hours!!! ARGH! I hate Windows! The stupid downloads freeze for no freaking reason--oh, it says they're still active, but they aren't!

Sorry. Had to get that out.

Once you have done it successfully it gets easier. You know how it is supposed to feel so you just jiggle a bit until it hits the right spot.

The BAF website has this up:

Golfing for Inclusion 2009 Summary

I'm on the laptop though, and can't get the pictures to show up. Anyone else having that problem?

As for the topic du jour at the moment...I see claytonic's point, in that I do tend to think that ignoring is really the best policy, and that posting on a public board sometimes doesn't help. Having said that -- I'm a fan of venting, and have done that over here several times throughout my years here. And I totally agree with couchie that much of this crazy fandom needed to see the light of day in order to exactly point out how crazy it was, without making it go much further.

Sometimes I envy the people who are fairly new in this fandom -- IMO they may not have to ever experience some of the "gates" this fandom has experienced for weeks at a time. OTOH, people tend to learn from "history" and I think that's where some of us who have been here from the beginning tend to get our experiences.

As for the "support" boards (and I believe there are more than just one) -- to me it's just wallowing. It's nice that they've got their own place, but I don't see it helping them in the long run. IMO it's just adding to their anger and continuing to perpetrate it in their lives (not to mention when they go elsewhere to make their point).

Shoot...it seems like it's time for a few pretty pictures...

I see I missed a lot of good discussion since last night. Got to say, Couchie, you are so smart, and I would have said that even if you hadn't shared your bed. One of the main reasons that I came to this board is because we could talk about anything and because we can vent if we need to. And we can say what we want without worrying that we will get edited. May get a message occasionally asking if we want to self-edit but I'm not sure if I've ever seen a mod editing or deleting someone's post here. But if we post something that may be controversial, we better be prepared to take the heat. Lots of strong opinions on this board, which is why we can have some great discussions.

On the topic of fans who can't let go, they still get on my nerves, and frankly, it's why I rarely go to the OFC. And that is sad because that is Clay's board and I do feel that those negative posters ruin the experience for people like me so that I spend most of my time at other boards. Well that and the moderating. I don't blame the mods there but it does get frustrating when the posters who say crap about Clay can get away with saying stuff but the ones who defend him will possibly get edited because it's considered attacking the poster. Well, in my opinion, if the poster is going to talk trash, then they should take the heat for it. Then again, on the OFC, that might not work because it would never end. Tough job to be a mod. You all have my complete sympathy and I'll never understand why you do it without some kind of hazard pay or something.

I actually still..believe it or not, like the OFC lol the messageboard I mean..it helps that I go to the chatroom which is a completely different environment than the messageboard...but Ive made friends there and I enjoy a lot of the discussions that go on over there...but then the same group of people go from discussion to discussion spreading their vile hatred and thats when it gets to be to much..I realize I should probably ignore, its a character flaw lol so it becomes a gerbil wheel..I have successfully bowed out of discussions before..but I hate to see the people, who arent even fans anymore..taking over...and if I shut up thats what Im afraid is going to happen, the discussions wont end, it will be just the same hateful people saying whatever they want..its a sad sad situation.

Thanks for the link, Fear! Heee - I got a kick out of 'Zombie Clay Aiken.'

I wasn't sure if I was reading fanfic this morning or what, with all of the references to putting rigid long things in, hitting the right spot, and pushing the thing in and out! :naughtywag: Thanks for the laughs. :-)

Couchie, did you ever get your bathroom open? What a funnysad situation!
