Saw THIS at the CH. Odd, isn't it?

HMMMMM very interesting....may mean something or not.... but verrrrrry interesting.

If you click on "Clay Aiken - On My Way Here" it will take you to a page with the QVC info....date, time, channel, etc. Sorry to say it's just the one appearance on QVC, and not a series.

This weekend will be my one and only trip to NYC to see Clay in Spamalot!!!! I'm so excited to be going and am just keeping fingers crossed that he will be performing on Saturday night because that's the only time I'll be going. Yeah....I know....I must be crazy, but I'll be with a couple of guys that wouldn't understand why I'd prefer watching Clay over and over to seeing all the sights of NYC. Still, I get to do both so no complaints from me!

Thank you. I don't think that QVC information was there a few hours ago. The [series] designation is interesting. It would be cool if they listed all his appearances for the album under that same link.

Have a blast at Spamalot--you will love it!!

Hey....Welcome, Iseeme...weren't you a reader of my 'stuff' on CV? :lilredani:

Ah, yes...ye olde fanfiction days....I miss 'em. :cry4:

It's 7:05 pm...do you know where your children are? I'm still in the office. It's a crock of shit, if you ask me. Now gotta go home and finish taxes. Ah...adult life. Great stuff sometimes, ain't it? <_< I'd rather be playing Putt Putt again with my 12-year-old, who kicked my butt on the course yesterday, BTW. :cryingwlaughter:

ETA: to call Claygasm! Lookie what I saw from lulu0013 on CH!

Speaking of "Touch", I was at the mall today, dropped in to Famous Footware .... & I hear Clay ..... & he was singing "Touch".

Want me to ask what mall it was? :lilredani: :lmaosmiley-1: :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Oh wow. That's fantastic. The more he changes, the more he stays the same. Even with eye-boinks.

Iseeme -- welcome!!!!!

Angst alert. I just saw Phil Stacey's (AI6) song list for his album and one of the songs is titled "what I'm fighting for"

Be careful out there.

Wow, I thought it was going to be warmer, I am trying to keep from turning the furnace on (500 a month is making me cheap cheap cheap), but I think I need more clothes on, it is 65 and dropping. Dug out my little portable heater for this one room. The heater will be traveling to the beach with me. The yet to be "internet"ed beach.

waves to newbies and lurkers

I see that one thing I hate about men - they frequently look better when they are older and with a more mature body - is happening to Clay.

Hee, turn the heater on at 65? :cryingwlaughter:

Today it was just around freezing in the morning (frost on the roofs and car windshields), and it probably warmed up to maybe a high of 45 F? Driving home from work this afternoon, there was such a mix of people on the sidewalks, some in winter coats, some in sweaters, and one older man riding his bicycle in shorts and a tank top, I kid you not! Hee, anything above freezing is like summer to us Canadians! ;)

Looking forward to more OMWH promo this week....can't wait for the Billboard article!

Is that the same song as Clay's. DOn;t really have any worries about it just curious. Is Phils Stacey that AI alum?

I have to say if I never hear the words "That's Clay Aiken?" again it will be too soon. Sounds like something was wrong with the old Clay Aiken and I happen to like him just fine and don't give a flying freak about NJU. I just don't. I have great taste and if I can be madly madly madly in like heh with Clay then so can millions of others. YMMV.

Enjoyed catching up now off to work. eyes prize and all that jazz. Welcome Iseeme. I've seen your name around. I know I have..Thanks for the explanation. I love seeing how people choose their names.

YES!! Do ask!

Ironically, I was in one Famous Footwear on Saturday and yet another one tonight and I didn't hear "Touch"! I can assure you if I did I would have EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEd so loud you would have heard it in California!

ETA:

For our Canadian friends - from anncanada at the CH:

I'm not sure if this has been posted before, but it never hurts to post again *g*...FYI.

I just called the toll-free QVC line (1-888-345-5788) and asked if Canadians could watch the QVC show on line and order from QVC. I don't have a cable channel through my cable provider (Rogers) or at least I don't think I do...I'm going to follow up with Rogers and make sure of that.

This is the page where I found the QVC number: QVC FAQ

The fellow on the QVC line said that "yes, all you need to do is sign up on line for a QVC account first" and then you are free to order. They will deliver to Canadian customers even if you don't have the QVC channel at home.

I have to agree - when I hear "that's Clay Aiken?" in an incredulous sounding voice I find very irritating.....you want to say "see what you've been missing while you've been trapped in your narrow-mindedness?" But, of course, I wouldn't! I think taking the Sir Robin role on Broadway was one of the most genius moves Clay and his team have ever made....and not just because of the publicity. Clay has reached new heights in self-confidence it seems and the "I can't dance" schtick will not work with us anymore. I prejudiced (ya think?) but I believe completely that Clay can conquer anything he puts his mind to. MAD talent. I knew he would be really good but I was not prepared to be blown away by his sense of comedic timing and those adorable facial expressions!!!!

Hi Couch - I've seen your name before too.

It's nice here. I like it!

I'm back from NY.

Had a great time time. Saw the show both Sat. & Sun. night. Awesomenesss

Thank God A Higher Power, I saw fit to take tomorrow off from work too. Will post more then. :)

Interesting re: your take on "THAT'S Clay Aiken?"...I only figure it's because the person is so out of touch, you know? I often run into people who, when Clay's name comes up, will say, "Oh, yeah---that skinny dude on American Idol. Whatever happened to him? He had a great voice!" etc. I mean, if the AI2 memories of Clay are all these people have, I can't help but think that any of pictures now associated with his music would evoke a "WTF!?!?" reaction...without it necessarily being a 'diss'...

Anyhooo.....I just reconnected via email with my hotel contact from our big conference two years ago in Chicago...(remember, ldyjocelyn? She's the benefactor of our scrumptious spread and audio visual set for our Clayfest in my gorgeous hotel suite!) This hotel contact turned out to be quite the Clay fan. And we've kept in touch. So I sent her an email with all the most up-to-date news about the new CD and Spamalot and all that stuff.

Uh...and I MIGHT have also mentioned---in a very casual way of course---that I'm looking for a hotel room in NYC...heh. :whistling-1:

Oh, my taxes, you say? Yeah...well, I didn't get home until about 8:10 pm and when I mentioned to hubby that I still had the state taxes to do, he just said, "Forget that! File for an extension and sit here and watch "Bones" with me."

I'm so easy. :P

From a blog - this is good!

American Pop Culture

I have a friend that I made this year that is from Calcutta, India. When I first met her, there was no way I could have known how much she knew about American Pop Culture. I grew up here and she knows more about it then I do. She can sing any song that has been popular, or tell you who dated who in the current shows. I was shocked at how she could know so much living so far away! It was as though she grew up here, and just was from Indian parents. She talked about it as though she was here, and had experienced it herself. Her main icon of choice was American Idol runner-up Clay Aiken. This shows how much influence American Idol has on not only American’s but the entire world. Her love for Clay could almost be considered an obsession, and she even knew people from campus because she had talked to them about Clay before coming here.

I am from Sandusky, and Cedar Point is kind of a big deal. After we became close enough friends she admitted to me that she knew where I was from because she had read something about Clay Aiken being at Cedar Point before. After hearing he had been there, she looked it up to see what it was. I found it hilarious that my friend from India knew where I was from because Clay Aiken had been there. She could even name roller coasters! My friend is a perfect example about how much someone can become enthralled by someone they have never met, and aren’t even from the same parts of the globe!

This example is hilarious because it is a ling with pictures from Clay at Cedar Point from a site called “Idol Stalkers”

Welcome to our new dogwalkers just in case I failed to do that for everyone So nice to see some new faces... and I'm sure the rest of FCA will rush to welcome you over in the welcome thread as soon as they read VIEW NEW POSTS. heh.

Muski, oh I liked it at first but it's starting to have a ring of disappointment to it to me and is being applied to everything Clay Aiken. I understand where everybody else is coming from though.

:cry4::cry4: Warriors :cry4::cry4: Talk about an anomaly..that damn piss poor eastern conference.

Play the photos aren't working for me on that blog for some reason..but I think I remember them anyway.

Warning...semi-long winded recap of my weekend in NY. I'm leaving in the mentions of my friends at getclayaiken and different boards, and no boards, because they were all part of my experience....and well, because they're my friends. lol.

You who know me know my recaps by now; rambling thoughts grouped together by audible sighs and scattered memories. Three shows, three different seat locations, three different perspectives. Thrice blessed. Good deal! Proceed with caution.

When asked if he thought dying was tough, actor Edmund Gwenn said, “Yes, it's tough, but not as tough as doing comedy”

If that’s the case, Eric Idle, that freakin’ comic genius, and every single member of Spamalot’s cast, should one day ‘go gently into that good-night,’ because that show is simply pants-peeing hilarious and they make it all seem so easy. The Bright Side Of Life would be nothing without Patsy, Tim the Enchanter's "Blow me!" wouldn't work without Rick's accent and superb timing, Clay's monk wouldn't skip and The Song That Goes Like This just wouldn't, without Hannah and Chris or Bradley, but Eric imagined it all first. "Gosh" (tm King Arthur)

Friday night I was second row on the left…close enough to watch smart-ass Clay come out to play and tease Patsy as he stumbled over his lines just a wee bit...the ‘Oh, what can they do with a cow, Sir?’ line, just before he was hit by flying bovine. Clay walked up as if to look at him and I see him slightly smile and go, ‘puh, puh, puh’ imitating David’s stammered line. Hee. As bottlecap mentioned, Clay talks all the time while he’s up there. I swear he was trying to coach Lancelot’s replacement, Michael O’Donnell, a few times. That’s how it seemed to me, so I’m sticking to it. 'Teacher Clay on Broadway' has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? Thanks to Lin (bigappleforclay), I got pretty close at SD time, but I didn’t try to get anything signed. I’m not sure why. I guess I figured I was just lucky enough to be there. Let someone else have a go at it. I did get a nice look-see at ‘messy haired’ Clay though. :)

I have read other people mentioning the performers sweating, the new Galahad, Bradley Dean, Michael O’Donnell, the replacement for Lancelot during Friday night’s show, etc. I’m here to report that during my three shows I saw everyone break a sweat, from Jonathan Hadary’s moist forehead to Rick Holmes’ little wet hair curl behind his ear. Anthony Holds, Brad Oscar’s replacement, had what I would describe as actual flop sweat dripping down his face. Everyone had sweat somewhere, sometime…everyone except Clay. I am now convinced his tongue hanging out during the slow motion horse riding is doggie panting. I think he’s somehow learned this skill from Raleigh and Durham and now he never need perspire.

Sat matinee I sat row E and got to see more of the stage. I tried to watch everyone.

*snort* Yeah, right!

I cannot lie. Clay Aiken, Sir Robin, whatever, he walks in front of me and my eyes stick to him like honey to a bear’s nose. If Kevin Bacon and Antonio Banderas had both been sitting on each side of me I doubt I would have noticed.

The Sat night show I sat second row again, but so far to the right that the seat next to me was sold as an ‘obstructed view.’ I actually loved that seat because the stage and the orchestra pit bow out, so the stage is askew from that angle. I got to see a bit of backstage. I got to watch Clay adjust himself, his helmet you pervs, and hoist himself up into the tower right as Tom Deckman stepped his foot on stage to stop the Finland scene. I got to see the bottle dance from an almost sideways perspective. Gah! :drool I got to watch Rick Holmes and Tom Deckman stand together and ‘snuggle’ as Prince Herbert and Lancelot, just about three feet from my face…lol…and just let me take a moment here to mention some superb talent. I believe each and everyone up there on that stage is amazing, that Clay Aiken guy included, :F_05BL17blowkiss: but Deckman’s physical performance is astounding. As Prince Herbert he positions himself almost a full head shorter than Rick whenever they stand together, giving Rick the more ‘masculine’ appearance, however in the scenes when the two French guards stand together, both on top of the wall and to discuss the ‘large wooden rabbit,‘ you can see the men are almost the exact same height. One more thing, on the way home my travel buddy bottlecap, mentioned that Tom must have some amazing thigh muscles in order to bend backwards and stay in that position as Prince Herbert’s father shakes him and walks away. Probably why Deckman’s thighs are twice as thick as Rick’s. Yes, yes, you heard me, bottle. Did I mention they were standing just a few feet in front of my face wearing tights? “Oh, wow.” (tm Sir Robin) Speaking of which, from my side angle, and with his back to the audience, I saw Clay Aiken giggle at Rick Holmes French taunter’s waggling tongue. The crowd was laughing too hard themselves to hear it, but I’ve seen and heard that giggle too many time not to imagine how it must have sounded.

Rick Holmes singing La Bomba. Funny shit. Clay Aiken as Sir Robin doing the Robot dance at curtain call, even funnier shit. That is all.

Ribbon playing with spears, pooped pants, penis-splitting looks of terror…kicks, shakes, shimmies…you’ve heard about them all before. When you walk away from that place, from the theater and Broadway, you start to forget little things. Luckily, those memories come back to you while you lay awake at two in the morning. They are the stuff dreams are made on. I guess that is fitting.

For as wonderful and priceless as my time with Clay was, my time with friends was even more. I cried big tears when we said good-bye. I tried to hide it. I miss you all so much already. Maybe later I will recap the personal stuff…how it felt being snubbed by the Maître de at the very upscale Italian restaurant and then walking down the street and being welcomed into the BEST DAMN FRENCH RESTAURANT IN TOWN, disappearing Delis, YSRN thinking I had removed my bra while standing in the check out line at Whole Foods, sitting in the wind and rain on the porch at Juniors and not wanting to leave, the dinner with EVERYONE, Lin, CbA, & Sis, WG, Jules & hubby & Philly too, *muah* bottlecap hunting for the perfect street hot dog, Dean and DeLuca’s morning coffee and the Today Show with YSRN, bottlecap, Nat, Sylvie and Kav, sharing drinks and munchies together at Sardi’s on the last night, Strawberry Fields and chasing Spamalot busses. You know...the usual stuff.

I have no idea who might want to read this, but if I can fly to NYC, then this recap can travel too. :P

laughn, your recap was fantastic! I love that you got some different viewpoints on the stage, and ITA with you on the entire cast. My favorite lines in your recap, though, are these:

Everyone had sweat somewhere, sometime…everyone except Clay. I am now convinced his tongue hanging out during the slow motion horse riding is doggie panting. I think he’s somehow learned this skill from Raleigh and Durham and now he never need perspire.

:cryingwlaughter: :cryingwlaughter:

As for "That's Clay Aiken?," I totally see what couchie is saying. The way some seem to be repeating it, there's an air desperation there...as if by magically repeating it and then clicking their heels three times, Clay will turn into a rocker. Sorry -- IMO, that ain't gonna happen. Now, if people who don't normally follow Clay start saying, I'll be perfectly fine with it. *g* And of course -- none of us have heard the album yet. Who knows? Maybe some of US will be saying "THAT'S Clay Aiken?" Hee.

I also kind of think "THAT'S Clay Aiken" doesn't quite work with pictures of him, because he changes his look every 5 minutes. :cryingwlaughter:

ETA: from the CH:

Vincent at CB has a contact who provided the following info re the Tyra show:

No, these are 2 separate shows. [other show discussed was the Mother's Day show] The 500th anniversary show will consist of clips from the past, with a few fresh segments, including our guy's.

Tyra's segment with Clay has already been "taped " at the Shubert. (You've seen some related photos).

Now for the date issue...The latest news is that the date is now wavering between Wednesday, April 30th, and Thursday, May 1st, with the 30th now being the frontrunner!

The feeling is that it will be one or the other. These are the last couple weeks of the season, and the schedule is being tweaked to use final footage to its best advantage. I asked whether another change could be expected, and the answer was that it most probably would be one of the two dates mentioned above, but it will still be shown as part of the anniversary episode.
