#5 (plus #6 & #7) - "Well....the weather outside is frightful...but the man is so delightful..."

Ok after going over board over first concert I've calmed down and realized there will always be Clay Aiken tickets to be had and will just go with the fan club or ticket master or whatever. I'm bringing my sister in law to the San Diego concert. She's never seen him live, just seen concert clack. I have no idea what's going on wiht that casino show...I'll just wait and see and hope there will be tickets. I'm starting to feel zen too. I'm just so happy he's coming to me..well somewhat. I'm getting confused about who's going where so maybe we should have our own list. I'll start that thread tomorrow,

Tomrorrow I"m going to an Obama rally. I'm kinda excited about that. I'm pretty apathetic politically because I think for the most part once people get in power the only thing they want to do is stay there. I haven't always been so cynical so hopefully he can light a bit of spark.

Claygasm: still don't understand how Clay will do an image change with a symphony but whatever. So sick of the entire topic. I just want to hear the man sing....whatever the heck he feels like singing to me.

EEP...did I ever say welcome to cha cha trusty. Love your web site!!

Ansa: don't worry I'll help you find tickets and air and all that. If you're coming to Cali... I'll deal with hotels etc. The thing about Clay tickets is that you have all th pre ticket buying frenzy, the fan club pre sale, the regular first day sale.... ok after all that if you still don't have a ticket you check the various boards for people selling tickets because upgrade fever is alive and well...you check ebay (where I've bought tickets for half price), you start haunting ticketbastard a week before the concert and if you still don't have a ticket you just show up at the preparty and somebody will be trying to get rid of a ticket and if all else fails you go to the box office and you'll get a front row seat on the day of the concert. Easy!!

The ticket angst is creeping me out. Someone said that a site called TicketsNow! has tickets for sale at the Greek NOW! Example is 8th row center for $395 or something like that. The tix don't even officially go on sale until April sometimes. How does this happen? I don't get it.

I'm actually on a 'list' at CH...for two tix...to a concert I might not even get to go to, but I know I'll be able to sell the danged things if I can't make it. I'm a newbie over there so I'm not expecting any seating favors, for sure.

Half of me wishes all this scheming and advance maneuvering was not even an option and the other half of me wants the best damned seat possible for the least amount of money, damn it! and wants people I don't like so much to get not-so-good seats, 'coss I'm petty that way. :em0100:

This book I"m reading is fascinating and I want to tell Clay about it. He'd LOVE it!

Anybody have his cell number?

OMG! All I can say is "word"! Can I hang out with you guys? I feel exactly the same way. And then I read this next quote and thought these are my kind of people!!! :bier: I've been on the boards since 2003 and used to post all the time over at RHT, CB, and all the other oldies but then people just started getting weird and nasty so I stopped and now just lurk.

Someone on one of the boards made a map of all Clay's concerts. I don't know where you all live so don't throw tomatoes at me but I sort of wish the east coast would fall of the continent! I live in Oklahoma and Clay hasn't been here since 2003 with the AI2 tour. So far it looks like the only thing close this time will be Texas and everyone on all the boards are saying they are going to Texas. They have even booked hotel rooms and one hotel is already sold out! My first (and probably still) reaction was STAY AWAY...you northeast people get Clay all the time and this is all we've got. I know, I'm a very bad person. :tongue09:

Don't ask me why but tonight I did a search for Clay Aiken Tickets and all these brokers are already selling tickets for $370-$395 each! One place had 6-7 venues. How are they getting tickets when they haven't even gone on sale yet?? :what_d_fuck:

Forgive me my dripping sarcasm here...but...

duh, Team Clay.

Thanks for the freakin' NEWS. We've known about the fuckin' NH concert for days, I believe. Then you announce it like it's some earthshaking news, but it's not even added to your freakin' chart of dates and venues and shit.

Give me a fuckin' break.

It's Friday...that's the end of the week, by the way, to most people who follow such things...Oh? You're going to work Saturday, too? Cool.

Then, Team Clay...I fuckin' aplogize.

<_<

(Ok...I feel a little better....no, actually...that felt DAMNED good! :medium-smiley-070: Now I need a few drinks, though....anybody wanna join me? :bier: :juul::voll::trink4: )

pkmiller Try not to fret too much on tickets just yet. Nokia is a pretty large venue, and while there may be a frenzy now, it will die down and eventually turn into, "OMG, why isn't he selling better.? I always get my tickets the first day they go on sale, and grab whatever I can get. I'm just happy to be in the house. I know I'm not the average internet Clay fan, but it works for me. Would I love to get closer? Sure. Somehow I just feel lucky to be there and feeling the joy. Anyway, sometimes I feel like I'd be better off to wait, because it seems like better seats than mine are always getting released after I've purchased mine. I know that thinking doesn't work for the smaller venues.

In the mean time we can hope a concert comes closer to Ok and Mo.

I have been encouraging Clay to tour, it is the other people who want him to record the phone book that keep him too busy to travel the nation!

BWAH HA HA! Another east coaster here, but not headed for Texas. I do wish those beyotches would stay out of your front row seats, but it's a big arena, so I don't think in pure attendance figures alone there's any harm done if the entire Clay Nation shows up. Where I'm gonna get pissy is if the folks with the front row seats from wherever they come from get all huffy and mean because Clay has the nerve to sing songs from his current album instead of the phone book - LOL.

Welcome pkmiller. Generally speaking we like to be happy and silly, and leave the mean to other folks. Now weird is another matter. We do good weird here. Or at least I do. Even when I didn't intend to.

BWAH...omg this is so right. Yeah it just seems like there won't be a seat left but after the requisite old ladies (LOL..me included) get their seats the first few days... we'll spend the next 4 months blasting RCA and ROger I'm sure for not promoting the concert and Clay could sell out if anyone knew he was coming. I always keep in mind that about 500 empty seats to every concert are actually sold seats, left open from the upgrading frenzy.

Welcome PK Miller.

I know this was way back, but {{{{diva}}}}. That's all kinds of wrong...

Well, I'll be doing exactly one concert this round. And I'm just going to take whatever ticket comes up. I'm not in a place in my life right now where I can do much traveling or upgrading, but I'll enjoy the stink out of the one concert I can attend. :allgood:

The thing that used to crack me up when I was a concert 'ho, is that some of the fans who had front row seats to umpteen million concerts would walk out of a show far more disgruntled than the casual fans who sat in the balcony for their ONE concert, who usually walked out floating on air. I can't even imagine walking out of a Clay Aiken concert disgruntled.........makes no sense to me! A Clay Aiken concert is 2 hours of pure joy.

Welcome pkmiller. The more the merrier!

Has anyone else caught the paparazzi video that has been vaulted? Is anyone else as squicked out as me? It just seems so intrusive. I don't know how Clay does it, I sure wouldn't be able to, in his shoes.

Well I'm now booked into 3 hotels, all with free cancellation up to the last day policies. I've got one general admission ticket and my name is on a list for a group sale for another venue. Where last week I was getting very itchy for the rest of the tour dates and public sale dates, right now I'm feeling quite zen. No rush, Clay. ;)

I honestly think TC couldn't/can't release the all fucking tour dates because all the fucking venues had prolly not signed all the freaking contracts and such - you know how testy Clay fans get when TC jumps the gun and announces something that doesn't happen!

I don't think this is all under their control, not at all, and I bet it is even more difficult to plan since they have to arrange an orchestra in each town instead of bringing everything and everyone they need in the bus and trucks.

heeee! Maybe they will wait until every.single.one is signed, sealed, and delivered next time - although in this case, I think they just released what they knew for certain because fans are calling every possible venue and asking about Clay anyway.

(I got an email from Ruth Eckerd Hall here in Tampa Bay - no Clay, dangit. Um, dunno why they sent ME that!)

Broker tix - I read somewhere that people who have season memberships at some venues already have their exact seats paid for, for the season, and thus they can sell them before the official sale. I know this is true at the Ford Amphitheatre here, and I used to have season tickets for, say, the Broadway Series in Orlando and Tampa, and I had my seats assigned and paid for months in advance.

Anyway, eventually we will all be here:

:club0:

Yeah, Clay looked annoyed in that clip - glad he is paparazzi-worthy, sad when they are intrusive.

I do think that any celebrity who uses LAX needs to quite expect that stuff, tho!

Happy St. Patrick's day! Although I draw the line at green wine - do they still dye the Chicago River bright green? I have seen that in person several times, and it was always startling.

:nanadance::nanadance::nanadance::nanadance::nanadance::nanadance:

I tried to make our chicken green for today, but failed. :.(

Welcome to pkmiller...............

Holy cow. Talk about sticker shock!!! Last night I went and made sure my PayPal had current credit card info. Made sure my Ticketmaster account was ready to go. Then I went to some Broker sites looking for Clay Aiken at Nokia tickets. *YIKES* The closest seat I could find for him on numerous sites was 10th row. Starting at $315.00-$400.00 EACH. One site had a $75.00 service fee for each ticket on top of the ticket price. I wasn't expecting that. Sorry but I'm not paying that for 10th row. Front row center maybe, but not 10-11-12 row. I can do that well on OFC pre-sale. I have got 7th row from that before. Silly me, I thought 400.00 would by me a pair of tickets, not just one. My partner in crime is not going to be able to buy the one from me now and I am not buying two and taking a chance of not selling the other. Not at those prices. Well, as I said before, this is my first time even considering buying scalper tickets from brokers. I'm thrilled Clay commands that kind of money but I think I may have to take my chances, and go another route.

Not so weird--you're just not thinking "right". It's not about seeing the show, it's about Clay seeing you--getting Clay's attention. They're disgruntled if he didn't acknowledge them, and ecstatic if there was an interaction with him of some kind.

Clayzorback, you'll probably be able to get cheaper, better seats later. When there's a frenzy like this, it always results in more seats available later. Depends on how many tickets sell altogether, but some of these folks who are covering their bases are going to get a better seat, and sell theirs--including moves from 3rd row to first, 1st row side to center, and the like. If you just have to be in the first 5 rows, center, that will probably cost $250, $300, $400 ($500 for front row center) or more apiece just because there's always a great market for those seats. But I think the rates you saw are high for rows 11/12. The people I've known who buy those seats often buy them the week before the concert--and there are often seats like that released by the venue at the last minute.

DING, DING, DING, DING, DING!!!! Give the girl her prize, for she just hit the big, fat old nail on the head!!

Its NOT about Clay for some. It is about them. It is about how they KNOW Clay and Clay KNOWS them and thus, they become the gold standard for the Clay fandom. No one can be a good Clay fan unless they follow every word they say and bow down to them when they give their "opinion". And I think some truly believe Clay also KNOWS they are the gold standard among his fans so surrely when he sees them in the front row, he will acknowledge them!

But when he doesn't, he's an ungrateful jerk who doesn't realize who got him where he is. But, since it can't be Clay's fault that he's that way, they blame it on Clive/Roger/RCA/venue security/Jerome/or any other attention grabbing whore fan!

I can't say I have become totally zen again - yet. I have issues, what can I tell you! I don't need first row. I got that at my very first concert (and only because a friend of mine has serious vision problems and they accommodated her and her party the day of the concert by giving us first row seats). I can be quite sure I will never get that again. And that's ok. If I get good enough seats at one concert that I can get good pictures, then I'll be happy. In my mind that concert has to be Philly, because its the only one I absoltely know no matter what happens that I can go to. On the other hand, I have been very lucky to have had really pretty good seats at most every concert. So I am a bit spoiled. I admit. And that makes it harder to accept lesser seats. But I know in the end, it won't matter as long as I am there.

There was only one concert where lousy seats almost totally zapped the pleasure of the concert. That was at the York Fair during the NAT. We had 4th row. Sounds good, right? Well, the stage was VERY long and they only used a portion of it in the center. No jumbotrons and they used the sides to pile up all the equipment. The result was, you couldn't see where Clay was! You only knew he had come out on stage because of the screaming! Only when he was on the high platforms or at the edge of the stage could you see him at all! That was just awful and IMO they never should have sold seats there. It was a totally obstructed veiw.

With the exception of something like that, in the end, as long as you can see and hear, it is very difficult NOT to have a good time at a Clay Aiken concert! I wish there was a law that there always have to be jumbotrons at his concerts (because we all know bigger is better when it comes to Clay... B) ), but even without, just go armed with a good pair of binoculars and you'll never stop smiling!

Unless he moves you to tears with his beautiful voice.....

I have to say I do think that our best clack gatherers should always have primo seats. They watch the whole show through a lens so the rest of us can relive the fun, or see it when we otherwise couldn't. Clack is truly the gift that keeps on giving so if they always ended up in the best seats, I wouldn't care.

OK so silly me I checked out tour threads finally. Lots of of activity. The LA Greek Theater sits 6000..there's no way I'm buying any sort of subscription plan for a place that big. So I'll just wait for the tickets to go on sale. There will be tickets. Like JHM said..we'll be crying about the fact that there are lots of empty seats in a month or so.

Jenna, Muski, Ansa, Claygasm? Who else is going to LA. I checked the pre party activities for CH for LA and they are at capacity so am looking into reserving a spot at same place inside or if they are full somewhere else. I like that place because they have a shuttle to the theater. Are ya'll interested in that. I can reserve for 10 or something like that. I'm going to call today.

At the NAT my seats for all of my concerts were between the 9th and 24th rows. I enjoyed every single show. And frankly it's really a lot of fun to sit out with people really really excited to see Clay and it's their one and only show.

I know, I know...I'm just frazzled right now. I think the boards do that to you. I don't hate you northeasterners...really! :F_05BL17blowkiss: I was just venting due to my frazzled state of mind. I will be happy just to go and I know I will be able to go. It would just be nice to have really good seats. My friend and I got 2nd row center in Kansas City for the JNT05 tour (quite by accident) and now I am spoiled but that was the only good seat I have ever had. I would just like Clay to be bigger than an ant if you know what I mean. Yeah, I have issues too. lol! One time we thought we had good seats...row 6 over to the side but we had the hugest people in front of us and never could see the stage. That was not good, especially since we paid a broker for those seats. What is it about Clay that makes us/me act like this? I remember a time when I didn't care where I sat as long as I got a ticket. There is still a huge gap in the schedule after July 7 so I am still hoping there will be more concerts in the central part of the US. So :allgood:

BTW, thanks for the welcome! I think I was going through post withdrawal.

I think I am goign to lock myself in to the Cali 3 fer...I just had an idea to make it half a family vacation...I can leave the girls with my family in SF and I can go to the concerts with Angela...and Muski!!!

WHo else would like to join us!!!! the Cali 3 fer venues sound really great. The biggest negative for me is the prize of plane tickets...hoping it will still go down in the future.

I have to laugh at myself--after reading pkmiller's response, I finally realized that I'm not from the northeast. HAHA. Force of habit. Man, it was grand being right in the middle of a gazillion concerts to choose from. This tour, not so much--yet. I hope he spreads it around with the rest of the concert dates, I really do. And pkmiller, you have my permission to kick any fat ass that gets in your way. :medium-smiley-070:

I have enough FF miles, play, but CA is a beeeeeg state. Those venues are not all that close together, and I think you are right that it will cost some bucks to do that 3fer. Still it's tempting. I dunno. Still waiting for the rest of the venues to be announced.

Really? The one board I used to read (and have been checking the threads lately for information), that's the thread with practically the least activity! I'm with you in that I'm holding out hope for another show or two in that same general area, midwest style. This is one distinct possible show for me (as long as there are a few more in the area....)

Welcome pkmiller. Generally speaking we like to be happy and silly, and leave the mean to other folks. Now weird is another matter. We do good weird here. Or at least I do. Even when I didn't intend to.

Oh God, thanks for reminding me about this -- only not. I'm frankly very sick of "blaming" people in Clay's camp for whatever happens. It's too convenient and easy to do this when people just can't look themselves in the mirror and face what it is they are truly upset about. In the case of ticket sales, IMO it's probably about being scared that Clay will just "go away" if he doesn't sell enough. It's easy to blame Clive Davis for an album of covers (that Clay full well said he had a major hand in as well) when in fact, it's simply that people are disappointed that the team (including Clay) picked songs they don't like. I find the blame game to be just tiring myself.

Has anyone else caught the paparazzi video that has been vaulted? Is anyone else as squicked out as me? It just seems so intrusive. I don't know how Clay does it, I sure wouldn't be able to, in his shoes.

Saw it. Deleted it immediately afterwards. I'm not THAT desperate for clack.

Where last week I was getting very itchy for the rest of the tour dates and public sale dates, right now I'm feeling quite zen. No rush, Clay. ;)

I have not made one single plan for these shows at the moment. My name isn't on any list, no hotel reservations made, nothing. I'm starting to get a little less zen, but I think that's because I'm reading about the craziness with the lists and such on the other boards that it's affecting me. I truly do want to wait and see what else shows up...although...

Its NOT about Clay for some. It is about them. It is about how they KNOW Clay and Clay KNOWS them and thus, they become the gold standard for the Clay fandom. Is there a Wikipedia entry for the word "fame-whore?" Because if there isn't, there should be, and this should be used as the definition. Bravo, woman.

So I am a bit spoiled. I admit. And that makes it harder to accept lesser seats. But I know in the end, it won't matter as long as I am there.

Very good attitude there, and one that I'm at as well. I've had fantastic seats and not-so-good ones, and I just have to tell myself that I'll be breathing the same air as Clay, and take it for what it's worth. I'll enjoy myself madly.

One time we thought we had good seats...row 6 over to the side but we had the hugest people in front of us and never could see the stage. That was not good, especially since we paid a broker for those seats.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I also always feel a bit guilty when people say things like this -- because at almost 6 foot tall, I'm usually one of the people doing the obstructing. It's a real bind sometimes for me -- I want the best, but I also hate that people are having a terrible time seeing around me. What to do, what to do?

The California shows are totally doable for me time-wise...but it looks to me as if everyone and their mother are going to those shows, and especially for the Pala show, I'm wondering if tickets could be really tight to get. I also agree that expenses could be high for this one. And damn it, I don't have FF miles. I'm gonna have to sign up for that, aren't I? But if several really cool people are there, and it turns out to be the FCA gathering place, I'm there.

I have been taller than people in front of me and if someone asks if I can stand over to the side so they can see around me, that is fine. My issue is with tall people swaying from side to side so I have no shot at seeing around them. Maybe Clay needs an extra tall stage so everyone can see him, just no one closely.

I guess I have a greater issue with people calling me rude for standing, ratherthan sitting - sometime people in front of me are standing, I don't get why they are picking on me. I am taller than average, so I am willing to compromise (work in all possible Clay titles) with the people around me.

Well, I can honestly say that I'm a front row 'ho. Or 2nd, 3rd, 4th. I've never cared before but there nothing on this earth like the excitement of seeing Clay up close. I've had lousy seats, I've had meh seats, and I've had lots of front seats. I've already upgraded from 4th row to 1st row and I don't regret a single minute of it. I don't care if Clay sees me or not. Don't get me wrong, getting an eye-fuck or a smile is wonderful but it's not the reason I do it. I do it because adrenaline rush is like a drug. I've had Clay talk to me from the stage and sing to me and I've had times when he ignored me. Who cares? I get to see his freckles up close. I get to see him sweat. I get to see the various face scrunches.

I've known some of the fans who sit in the front and hate the show *waves to CinPA-you know who, don't you?* I just don't understand them *scratches head*

I may only go to one concert this tour, I don't know yet. Meadowbrook has a round trip flight from Philly to NH for around $88.00, but if I fly, I need to be up front or else it's not worth the expense of the flight, hotel room, food, and dog boarding.

I'm not sweating tickets this year. I"m not jumping on the first concert. A friend did but I had to turn her down because I'm not driving 5 hours to stand in line for 12 hours to compete with 15 year olds running for the best general admission seats. Ain't gonna happen.

Shadylil, I've had my first row experience and wow was it different. I enjoyed it lots. I always have a decent seat and not since AI tour have I been frantic about getting tickets. Even when I decided to go to Atlantic City last minute for Jukebox I managed to score good tickets in a near sell out.

So just chatted with Muski and we're kinda zen for the 3Fer. We know we're doing it. That's how far we've gotten. Heee. The Pala Casino is my only concern. Anybody know how big that place is? But the good part is that if they sell out we still got two shows and a day to have fun in between. My biggest expense has always been travel. I'm also a concert ho and usually have to take a plane for 6 hours to get to the concerts. WIth them being in so cal... I've saved a few hundred dollars off the top. But the key is to have roomies and buddies to share expenses.

So I have no issue with people going to a million concerts but when they interrupt enjoyment for people around them that bothers me. In Atlanta at the JNT005 people behind me talked so loud about how Clay was having an off night and I'm like WTF? Shut the hell up. The people next to me had never seen Clay and they were enjoying the hell out of the show. So I calmly told them that their little star was sick so they are having to change things on the fly but he's doing it!! And I won't get into the hissing at Ethel when Clay singled her out at Atlantic City and people feeling the they must share with first timers what all their petty hissing was about.
