That guy never ceases to amaze me! If the music industry is in the toilet he's going to find other ways to survive.

...he always manages to get me to watch shows I don't like...remember when he was on that Nick show...watched for two hours just to see him...I really must love the guy!

Kim

hee yeah thatl. I'll be watching too..although I've never watched before.

Saw Michael Jackson and the brothers twice. I did go to the Thriller extravaganza show. And the ticket process would absolutely kill clay fans. You had to MAIL in your money and request tickets and just wait to see what you got. You might not even get the date you want. I ordered two, one for my sister who still lived in the Bay Area (I was in L.A). She found out last minute that if she wanted to see the concert she'd miss her SATs. heee. She chose the concert.

EWF put on a great show back in the day. Probably still does.

Oh my, if I had to try to make a list of the concerts I've attended, well I don't think I could do it. For starters, I've seen the Moody Blues more times than I could count. I saw Ten Years After probably a half dozen times in three or four years, BITD. Big Alvin Lee fan here.

Random Thoughts:

Luckiest1, I'm curious to know if you've heard Electric Arguments by The Fireman, and what you think of it. Especially Nothing Too Much Just Out of Sight. It's the first thing from The Fireman in about ten years or so and I think it's brilliant! Don't f*ck with the fireman, I say! And Sing the Changes is the best thing he's done in many years. I FLOVE it!

Regarding lipsync: The thing that most irked me in the annals of fakery is Peter Frampton's famous "Do You Feel Like I Do." The music wasn't fake, the audience was. I thought that was such a horrid manipulation that I can't listen to that song to this day.

Clay on the models thingy -- I don't watch it, but I will with Clay on it. And TIVO it, and watch it multi-times, and in freeze frame.

Note to merrieeee: I worked on into the night again. So much for having a life.

I read this on ANTM site:

In addition, special guest judges will appear to critique within his or her area of expertise

What would Clay's be?

Breast exams?

Maybe -- using his tongue?

I have to say, I have become slightly "hooked" on Amy Winehouse.

I knew she'd won 5 Grammys (Grammies?) out of 6 nominations in 2008, but the bad press and her awful image just killed any curiosity that I would normally have about such a runaway success.

I first heard Amy Winehouse about two years ago and loved her voice and her songs.

Her videos were great and she looked good in them and then her decline started and I thought what a waste.

Is she going to end up like Janis?

I wish the tabloid press would leave her alone and I wish she would go to Rehab. She's a good song writer and has a great blues voice.

Clay on ANTM. Hmm....I'd much rather see him on Kimmel but will happily d/l the Clack when it's posted.

His advice? Maybe more along the lines of don't be crushed by the criticism but learn from it.

well since he is there for an acting challenge...Im guessing acting..

right?

Well, then - miming horseback riding ("Use your tongue a lot to show you're going fast."), or how to convey the loss of control over one's bowels? ("First yah squat, and then yah screaaaammmm.")

{{{{{{jmh & jmhmomma & jmhsiblings}}}}}} Stoopid people who won't admit they can't do something (small woman who was trying to lift your momma) frost my tutu.

tribeca... thanks for bringing over that profile. I hadn't seen it before and enjoyed reading it.

your welcome :)

it was fun to talk about music for a little while.

I always enjoy concerts. Can't always afford to go to them.

Couchie I agree about Micheal Jackson. It is sad to see him now. Thriller and Bad were such great albums. Thriller was one of the best videos at the time.

My friends husband is a high roller at the casino by us. Sometimes he gives me his free tickets. Two people that I enjoyed that I probably would have never gone to see on my own were

Liza Minnelli and Tom Jones.

They both put on very entertaining shows and I didn't know any of their music.

Last time I watched Top Model this girl was talking to a tree. It was very strange and I watch trash tv all the time but I just could not deal with the drama on that show for some reason.

It will be interesting to see Clay's acting challenge & his judging. Now to see when/where this show is & if I even get this station.

And the reason why it is usually lipsynched is for practical purposes -- usually synchronization with the backing musicians. But there are ALWAYS people out there who believe that because some singers can't "sing" with out lipsynching, ALL singers who do it must have bad voices. Shrug.

The SSB at the World Series, however, is frequently NOT lipsynched, because whoever does it performs it acapella (meaning, without backing music, just solo singing).

Topic: Clay sang at the World Series. Did really well too.

I am like 5 pages behind - I was out all day yesterday and Monday with chachadotter#1 - but I just gotta say - I love your avatar ldyj!!

GFI_sneeze.gif

it's oddly mesmerizing!!

You have probably moved on from the lip-synching debate, but the practice might have something to do with when Roseanne sang it, does anyone remember what a fiasco that was? LOL (Was that the Super Bowl?)

Answering my own question - no - it was in July at a Padre's game - here's why!!

ROSEANNE HAS TOO MUCH FUN WITH THE NATIONAL ANTHEM

eta: in the list on the right there are lots more SSB videos to watch, including the infamous Whitney who is reported to be the first controversial lip-syching.

On to more recent developments - YAAAAY for TYRA! for having Clay on her show!! ANTM is one of my favorite reality shows! Can't wait till it starts - is it April yet!!!!????!!?!?!?!

Awwww.... I hate America's Next Top Model!

Clay Aiken will be broadening horizons for me, I guess.

ETA: APRIL??? *paces* Wonder what his hair's going to be like!

I am guessing this is being shot now, or will be in the very near future. So I imagine his hair will be like it is now. That show is filmed in advance so they have time to edit and stuff.

Where'd everybody go? Did I kill the thread??? :D

I've read somewhere else that the applicants to appear on ANTM had to have cleared on their schedules October through December 2008, so the shows have been shot already. The speculation is that this is the appearance that Clay alluded to during the "talk back" thing at Spamalot. "I shot something yesterday, but I can't say any more than that." That was in late November, so...hmmmm...what was his hair like back then?

Looking forward to seeing him in this....
