Faye said she went to see Clay and he showed her a spot he was going to plant some shrubs.

<snip>

The next time she talked to him he'd changed his mind.

I wonder if it was fear of cat smell?

Could be an adversion to "manual labour"!!!! :cryingwlaughter: Why can't I picture him digging a hole? :hahaha:

My bet is he didn't realize it would involve dirt. :hysterical: Personally, I feel the same way.

ETA: Maybe that's what the Crocs were for! *smacks forehead*

AWESOME to hear the FEC thing is sold out, thanks Kim!

So are people who hide behind the internet to spout the most vile things like that in real life or is it the anonymity that brings it out in them. On my job we keep up with what the hot topics are that people are googling. And you know the NEW Craigslist murderer...evidently he was supposed to be getting married later this year and he and his fiance had up a wedding website well people have invaded it to leave his fiance the most vile, nasty, crude messages. It's not enough that she has to deal with her fiance being a psycho I don't get why she has to be guilty by association. And it's just all in fun..let me see how clever I can be.

So tonight is the night we see a new picture of Parker, right? :cryingwlaughter::cryingwlaughter:

The world is full of sick cowardly people who hide behind the anonymity of the web.

Their turn will come.

I'm so excited to hear that Clay is in negotiations about ANYTHING. I don't care what it is. The economy is so bad now, that I trust he will make the best decision for himself and the times.

Argh, I wish I could be in NYC tonight. So close but yet so far. But we'll be there Sunday...have dinner reservations at Lucky Cheng's. That should be a hoot!

Wish I could be in NYC too! Just love the place especially when knowing clay is in town too!

kf, the one I haven't tried on that list is Huynh & I think that's the one we originally discussed. If you'll post the addy/directions for Huynh, we can meet there -- say at around 11:30? I also have a back-end at 1pm. K, how's your Thursday shaping up? Is 11:30 doable?

On topic:

:Iluvclaysbutt:

Huynh it is -- it's 912 St. Emanuel in Old Chinatown where Lucky Inn was located for many years. I think you'll like it. It has a pleasant atmosphere with authentic food and very fresh ingredients.

When I was there, another customer suggested Thien An for their Vietnamese Pizza -- which is the same dish called Shrimp and Vegetable Pancake at Mrs. Me's (my long time favorite that is no more). Basically it's a crepe with shrimp and vegetables, best covered in ngoc mam. Now I can't eat it anymore because of my shrimp allergy, but this dude swore that Thien An on Travis has the best. So maybe one day we can go there and I can watch you guys eat it and try to stand it!

I'm also good on any day -- Wed, Thurs or Friday at 11:30 -- kf, let us know if one of the other days works better. Can't wait!

Actually, tomorrow I have a light schedule, so Wednesday would be my preferred day.

It's some freaky internet perversion apparently. My son and his friend were talking about the basketball playoffs and they go online to read the sports sites, which according to them are full of haters. Maybe it's a good thing that disturbed people have an outlet to release their venomosity without physically harming anyone -- but that's my best case scenario only. There are sick f*cks out there.

Wednesday it is, then! Scarlett, do you want to swing by and pick me up at 11:15 at my office? I have GOT to get out of the office.

The sick fucks have always been out there - the Internet just gives them a place to congregate and a sense of anonyminity...

I'm sitting in my new office, with my slow, unsecured wireless connection. The guy's going to get something fixed up as soon as he can, but it might not be until Friday. At home I moved the cable modem, and now I have no internet at all, despite two calls to tech support. The modem is fine. The ethernet is fine. Just no DSL. I've tried two different phone jacks, two different phone wires, and three different filters--got nuttin'. I recycled the modem, restarted the computer. Several times. During lunch I even ran an extra-long phone cord from the phone jack I usually connect the cable modem to, from under the workmen's plastic "room" where they are doing their thing all the way back to the back room where I was hiding out. No internet. Crap! Someone will come tomorrow between 1 and 5, and I'll have to sit there and wait, with no internet, while the workmen make noise and fumes. :cry4:

Anyway, I'm too discombobluated to work yet, and I might as well save something to do tonight when I'm at home without internet (ACK!!!), so I uploaded a bunch of photos to Facebook. If you're my Facebook friend you can see them, and if you aren't, I'll friend you if you want. There are photos of my yard, my mom's yard, my mom, and my new office. But one I wanted to post here, because I saw this creature yesterday in my yard of a type I have never seen before. It was about the size of a raccoon, but definitely was not a coon. It looked flatter and floppier, if that makes any sense. It was a very floppy-looking creature, almost like a stuffed animal. I ran to get my camera while it ran to get away, so all I caught was a shot of its rear while on the run. Here's that photo. You can sort of see the tail and the body, but not much in the way of shape. Any ideas??

If you live near water, I'd suggest a beaver or nutria...or possibly a muskrat. The only other brownish, floppy, low-to-the-ground creature I can think of is the Simonous Cowellious, but I believe that is native only to California.

Any Simonous Cowellious around here would be shot on sight. :hahaha:

I don't live near water of any size--maybe a creek in the woods somewhere--but there is a lake about a 1/2 mile or so away. Poor thing did look very lost and scared. But its tail was furry and kind of scraggly, so not a beaver, nutria, or muskrat. Maybe a long-haired cat got with a coon and had offspring??? :hahaha:

Maybe an escaping coonskin cap?

I'll be there -- on the Louisiana side. Oh and I forgot to respond to this the other night, yes, Pern rules!!!

jmh, could it have been a large brown cat? You could turn this into a good horror movie with some Blair Witch-type clips...

ETA: Half-day off again! I could get used to this!

Article on cyberbullying with some interesting points:

- Bullies and mean girls are still in school classrooms, hallways and playgrounds; they just can use new digital tools to be cruel now. What’s different is that cyberbullying can be much crueler, often happens on public internet sites, and can spread virally.

- In many ways cyberbullying has democratized bullying because you don’t have to be able to physically overpower your victim—a person can simply log on, create a new identity, and bully away.

- Cyberbullying is mostly relational bullying, or the “mean girls” phenomenon gone digital. Instead of whispers behind teens’ backs, the insults are posted for everyone to read.

- Teachers and parents may never suspect that it’s the well-behaved or high-achieving students who may be tormenting their peers. Cyberbullies are often known for being the teens who would be least suspected of these behaviors.

- Communicating digitally makes it easier to be a lot meaner, since teens can’t see the people they’re bullying, their emotional response, or the look into their eyes.

- If your teen is the victim of more extreme cyberbullying, save every message, image or sound file, or Web page as documentation should you decide to build a legal case.

Boy, I miss one day of keeping up and it takes me forever to catch up!!!

I don't think there's any real moral value in preferences--that is, cowboy songs are probably as enjoyable and worthy as opera and hokey movies are probably as enjoyable and worthy as arthouse movies. Tastes are so subjective and based on each person's personal experience and exposure. I generally hate unhappy endings and hate slapstick. There's probably some deep hidden meaning there, but I just tend to go with what I like.

Other than fringe stuff--porn, snuff-films, etc.--I can pretty much accept that most of the world likes what I don't (and vice versa).

I draw the line at people not liking Clay.

Batshit assholes.

wanda... BWAH!!! :hahaha: Yeah, whatsupwiththat???

Kareneh :welcome: back. How's your frequent flyer miles? Do you get extra credit for Kenai's???

Faye said she went to see Clay and he showed her a spot he was going to plant some shrubs.

<snip>

anna... :hahaha: That really sounds just like Clay! Love that man!

00lsee... :hahaha::hahaha: I believe you are right. The Simonous Cowellious I've seen in the UK seems more upright with actual human characteristics peeping out occasionally.

Taste is soooo different and that's what makes life fun sometimes. I LOVE HP and what they heck are they postponing the next movie again for... geesh! It took me forever to get past the first 50 pages in LOTR, but once I did, I've read them all several times and love the movies.

I do not, unless it's an accident, watch movies that make me cry or very gory movies. I loved the 40's musical/comedy movies when I was growing up in the 50's. The swimming movies with the syncronized swimming were fun. Ray Milland movies. North by Northwest. The old scary movies with the giant ants or giant this or that, like The Blob.

I'm not a big movie person... I read more than anything else. Even there, I read for escapism, so I rarely read anything socially redeeming. If it doesn't make me laugh somehow, somewhere, I'm not interested.

Re: The Family Equality Council Dinner...

Cocktails and Silent Auction at 6:00 p.m. EST

Dinner at 7:00 p.m. EST.

I imagine the cellcert will start sometime after 8:00 EST.

Just home from work and there were two ducks under our bird feeder eating with the other birds! Hubby said they were sitting out by my mailbox when he got home...looks like a male and female...could be we may be having little duckies if they hang around. We do have ponds around us, but they must have heard we have good food at our house. I love watching the birds.

From CV:

I'll post this here and in the correct thread as well...bigappleforclay just called. She was planning on going to the Tavern tonight, but lost out on a ticket when the event sold out. She went anyhow, hoping for a cancellation.

She wanted to give us an idea of the set up. They've closed the entire restaurant for the event. One room for the cocktails, one room for the silent auction, etc. There are a good amount of Clay fans there

Report from clayphan via Butterflyshine...

He is there but not in the building yet!!

bigappleforclay: He just walked in wearing gray jacket with black velvet collar... white shirt and glasses. He was by himself, walking with a hostess. (or at lleast she doesn't see anyone else yet) Jerome is there also. Kind of reddish spikey hair.

She has pics, but they, once again, aren't sending via her iPhone. She will post them later I'm sure.

From clayphan via BFS:

Gray suit with purple (?) lapels , white shirt no tie, glasses, spikey hair.
