I have complete faith in Clay as far as his career is concerned. I've always believed he will have exactly the career he wants. No worries from this chickie. Whatever's next, I'll be there.

I have also posted in his blog, saying I miss him, and asking what is next. Why? Because he said in his last one he'd be back to tell us what's coming in 2009. So nope, don't feel a bit like a 'boss' harping at someone to cut their vacation short. Yes, it's only been a few weeks (relatively) since GFI, but you know, for those not fortunate enough to have been at a gala, or to travel to NYC for Spam, it's been a long, long time. A little good news in these uncertain times would go a long way.

KAndre eyes Scarlett with suspicion....

You're not talking about ...chick flicks, are you? You know I don't do chick flicks!

I can do romance though....hmmmm

Movies: Léon (The Professional); Bladerunner (director's cut); The Philadelphia Story

Books: This is harder because I'm just not into "romantic" books - The Warlord series by Elizabeth Vaughn; The Blue Sword/The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley; and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, The Black Stallion!

Songs: Unchained Melody (Righteous Brothers or Amici Forever; I love Clay with my whole heart but these versions bring tears to my eyes); Nobody Knows by the Tony Rich Project or Forever and Ever, Amen by Randy Travis; Against All Odds or I Will Always Love You (Either Whitney or Dolly, both good in difference ways); For Clay, the most romantic one is As Long As We're Here.

Oooh, let's make it fun! Defend your choices!

I know I'm a complete heathen, but Casablanca never did anything for me...I sorta thought Rick just found an easy way to get rid of Ilsa...

It's easier for me to do songs - I can be romantic for 5 minutes at the most...

While I may need way more info to form an opinion, it doesn't stop me from hoping. I'd love to see him on idol to wipe up the floor with everyone else. Maybe he can use Simon's face to do it.

:yeahthat:

And CF, can you possibly postwhore any more?

Sure I can. :imgtongue:

As for the topic, I agree! He should come back and sing TWO songs! One to appease the AI people who want him to sing something AI connected (SOT, MTK, anyone? ;)) and then something from OMWH (or the supposed new CD) like EIDN or Ashes!

*grin/ducks*

I too thought it would be nice if he could do 2 songs and I was picking LAA and Ashes! :curtsie:

Drawing a blank on MTK.

Looks like a big old horseshoe.

How do I add that thingie to do dat?

From your profile....in the grey taskbar, at the bottom left, you should see "Applications"; if it's not in the list already, you can "find more" (top right in that popup). It's called Ilike, and when you add the application you'll see all sorts of neat stuff you can do.

Or........I sent a thing earlier to all us ON folks that says "LF wants Clay Aiken to come to Toronto, Canada"; you should see that on your wall. If you click on "Vote for your town" in that, I think it will ask to add the application for you.

Mkay. I'll go look.

- Top 3 most romantic movies

- Top 3 most romantic books

- Top 3 most romantic songs

Quick drive-by post of number one selections:

Movie - "The Year of Living Dangerously" combines seduction, danger, turmoil, along with eerie, dis-jarring music. From Wikipedia:

The Year of Living Dangerously is a 1982 Peter Weir film adapted from the novel of the same name by its author Christopher Koch, Weir, and David Williamson. The story is about a love affair set in Indonesia during the overthrow of President Sukarno. It follows a group of foreign correspondents in Jakarta on the eve of an attempted coup by the so-called 30 September Movement on 30 September 1965 and during the beginning of the violent reprisals by military-led vigilante groups that killed hundreds of thousands.

The film stars Mel Gibson as Guy Hamilton, an Australian journalist, Sigourney Weaver as Jill Bryant, a British Embassy officer. It also stars Linda Hunt as the male dwarf Billy Kwan, Gibson's local photographer contact, a role for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The film was shot in both Australia and the Philippines and includes Australian actors Bill Kerr as Colonel Henderson and Noel Ferrier as Wally O'Sullivan.

Book - Pride and Prejudice

Song - Layla

i wish people would type out the words

sometimes I have no clue what anyone is talking about. Then when I finally figure it out & have something totally amazing, witty and intelligent to post someone will post a picture of rodent on wheel.

PLEASE don't let that discourage you! If you have a question about something, and don't feel comfortable asking on the board -- PM the original poster. You can also PM me, if you want -- I've answered questions privately for many people around here.

I know it's hard sometimes to "break into" a new message board, especially one that's almost 4 years old at this point. We've got our own shorthand many times, and I know that can be intimidating. Try not to let that stop you. Many of us are more than happy to help you find your way!

lmao...and then there's canfly who just jumps right in with both feet and says "Ta DAH! Here I am!" :curtsie:

I'm usually the first one to ask WTF unknown acroyms mean. I've had lots of people say, "Thanks for asking. I had no clue what it meant either". I figure there's no sense in going on wondering what the heck it means, so I just ask.

I'm not worried about Clay either; I just miss him.

wordcat.jpg

I worry more about the fans than I do for Clay. :8:

wordcat.jpg

Hee, I'm on youtube too. I did a stupid today and accidentally wiped the bulk of the stuff off of my iPod trying to put the contents onto my interim computer... only half worked, I got all the stuff I've purchased from iTunes, so no Clack at all. :( I have all the other stuff saved to a backup hard drive, so I'm not particularly worried.

Anyway, I'm rewatching a lot of the AI stuff on YouTube since I had a sudden hankering for it and, naturally, don't have it at my fingertips like I usually do. I may not be a huge fan of AI (never have, really) but I love those original Clay moments. The first time I saw Clay was on Leno singing OMWH, but when I really fell flat on my face was when I looked him up on YouTube. Sometimes I'll forget just how unique his voice is, but there's nothing like a quick spin through those videos to remind me!

ETA: Hmm... did I read somewhere that he had an allergic reaction to something before Tell Her About It or did I imagine that? Because he looks fine to me...

It blows me away when I find somebody like yourself who wasn't a fan, who discovered him recently. The only minor worry I have is about Clay filling venues, knowing that we've lost "fans" after Clay "came out", so it's nice to hear that we're gaining new ones!

Whoa.... Has anyone else seen the Clay in drag clip? It's on YouTube HERE, but it looks like it comes from some larger interview...

That clip is from when he was doing Hometown Connection in NC...he was maybe 19-20.

Kim

And the "larger interview" it comes from is actually a piece on Clay's Mom Faye. CBS This Morning did a week long thing saluting Moms -- I think this was in 2004. I'm looking to see if I can find the original piece....

Found it! From Clack Unlimited (please right click and save, no streaming please!): CBS Early Show: Mom Rocks!

Ah...the Cher clip. That clip inspired some durty fanfic (not that I've read any of that or anything... :27: ) a few years back

If anybody new to downloading is confuzzled...you do have to left click ldyjocelyn's link because it's just the index cuz I dutifully right clicked the link, which got me nowhere. Ya gotta left click and then when the CU page comes up you can pick a size MPEG or large wmv or small wmv and then left click on that folder and then when the file page come up, you right click on the file and select "save target as".

I am actually the one alone because I am worried but to be fair I am a worrier. Always have been. It's just who I am.
*hands tribeca some worry beads and sits down beside her* I'll try to worry a little just so you won't be alone. Besides I enjoy holding the beads.

ETA: I would've said fingering the beads but Muski would've pounced on that like anything. BTW, you do understand that we just smut for fun and have been doing it for years -- nothing meant, truly! (I'm referring to that 69 thing from a couple of weeks back)

You're so cute. (like you haven't heard THAT before...)

clay-aiken-handsome-man.jpg

big *gasp* version

I am not sure if I have ever seen this photo before. Probably have, but the close up still took my breath away. :)

Right click, crave as. thumbsup.gif

Yes, I figured out the smutting thing the second day I posted here

What is this "smut" word of which you post? I have no idea what that could possibly be! I'm more of an inuendo person myself! :believeitornot:

Jazzgirl -- ah the year of living dangerously. Between Mad Max and The River or maybe it was the first Lethal Weapon I had a mad crush on Mel Gibson. I liked the movie and loved the way you described it.

My brain can't think of anything when it comes to books and songs right now but as for movies I'm more of the romantic comedy type.. e.g. just give me every Saundra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon movie ever made.

For more serious fare: A Walk to Remember, Emma, The Notebook, Love Field (hmmm is that considered romantic movie?), Princess Bride... ok that's not serious. Going to bed..maybe with my ipod.

KAndre...

:cryingwlaughter: I woke up, looked at your list and the words "Against All Odds" jumped out at me. I was sure I was dreaming because that's a chick flick if I ever saw one. *rubbed eyes and looked again* Now see that you have it under "Songs". Ahhh, that explains it. I wonder.... do you love the song but hate the movie, "Dr Zhivago"?

"Casablanca" works because it frames a "perfect" period that will be frozen in time forever -- they will always look that way, speak and act like they did, and it will grow better with each recollection.

ETA: Claytonic, yes, hee! To add something new, Equatorial Guinea is not on the equator.

ETAA:

When to Merieee say she didn't need smut in her romance? I missed that post.

I had seen part of the Clay in drag but never knew why/what/when I figured I should leave it alone. Shows what I know LOL.

Scarlett

love Casablanca. Mr. & Mrs. Smith not so much.

need more time to think about the rest of your questions. Although I always loved the chessey movie While you were sleeping.

Hi, tribeca! merrieeee was claiming that she "didn't know what smut was" and I know how she enjoys romance because she's posted about "The Thorn Birds" and "Shogun".

On the Mr Smith thing, :) I was talking about the 1939 film -- wow 70 years ago -- with Jimmy Stewart. You know, the one that was released in the same year as GWTW, The Wizard of Oz and Wuthering Heights.

Good Morning Everyone,

I don't really do Romance movies per se...but I do like romantic comedies...but I am pretty much old school when it comes to those...Tracy and Hepburn; really anything from the 40's and 50's and also Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. And Casablanca is my favorite movie of all time although I never really thought of it as a Romance movie.

11 Days until The First Day of Spring!

:yahoo:

22 Days until Playlist: The Very Best of Clay Aiken is available!:yahoo:

30 Days until Judge Aiken is holding Court on ANTM!

:yahoo:

Everyone have a great day!

I like some light, romantic comedies like Love Actually and Bridget Jones Diary, that kind of stuff. My favourite movies are probably not the norm - I love Bridges of Madison County, Boys on the Side, for some reason I love Rob Roy even though I don't typically like that kind of movie, and I am looking forward to buying the DVD of Twilight when it comes out in the next couple of weeks. I love Fried Green Tomatoes. I also enjoy psychological thrillers - love the whole series of Silence Of the Lambs, Hannibal, and Red Dragon. Not so much the one Anthony Hopkins wasn't in though. For books I tend towards mysteries and crime, some horror (Stephen King), and biographies.

I'm taking a mental health day today - yeah me! Too much going on this weekend to be able to relax, so I am going to play catch up today.

Don't read romantic books as a general rule, and I'll have to think of a few romantic songs (when I have a bit more time). But my most favorite of all romantic movies -- Witness, specifically the scene with Harrison Ford, Kelly McGillis, a barn, and a broken car except for the radio, playing "What a Wonderful World." Sa-woon.

Canadians can vote on AI???!!

Romantic movies etc.....

Movies~I'm not a big movie watcher. No time, little inclination, can't sit still that long. But, from what I have seen:

1. Out of Africa~my favorite movie of all time, and it has Robert Redford. What more could you ask?

2. Gone with the Wind

3. The one with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts in, where she's a big star and he's....not. Can't even remember what it's called, but I loved it!

4. The Way we Were (you can cheat on Scarlett, right?)

Books

1. Anything from the "Outlander" Series by Diana Gabaldon

2. The Notebook (although normally I hate Nicholas Sparks' stuff....treacle of the worst kind)

3. I'm allowed to name only 2, cuz I had 4 movies....so there! Not really my genre. I'm more into non-fiction, biographies, mystery/suspense.

Songs:

1. As Long as We're Here - Clay Aiken

2. What are you Doing New Years Eve - Clay Aiken

3. Fields of Gold - Clay Aiken

Tribeca, forgot to mention....thanks for bringing over the Walmart thing. Very cool that it's sold out (even though I suspect not that many were ordered)....but to me, even cooler to know that it WILL be in stores! (if you get there fast enough, probably....)

Both of my two favorite classic movies are Bogart flicks: Casablanca (it's just so blissfully iconic in every way), and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, where the doomed love affair was between Fred C. Dobbs and his stash.

I was a real sucker for The Notebook, because Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams were darling. And I adore Before Sunrise and the sequel Before Sunset, with Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke, because she's just fabulous.

Also, The Wonder Boys which I have always totally worshipped -- Michael Douglas, Frances McDormand, Tobey McGuire, Robert Downey, Jr., Katie Holmes, and a soundtrack with Bob Dylan and Van Morrison among others. I have to watch it a couple of times a year to visit the James Lear character, just on general principles. And Vernon, I love Vernon!

Romantic music? Tschaikovsky. Puccini. George Harrison's "Something"

Romantic books? They write romantic books?

Wow, I feel so... uncultured.

3 most romantic movies? Uhh... Casino Royale, A Walk To Remember, and.... yeah, I'm drawing a blank. And Casino Royale is too a romance!!

3 most romantic books? Hmm... Dude, Nora Roberts. That's all I need for romance.

3 most romantic songs? ALAWH, SL, and... The Way! I wasn't going to do an Aiken hat trick, but I can't think of any other songs.

1. Anything from the "Outlander" Series by Diana Gabaldon

omg, FromClaygary....I absolutely am in awe of Gabaldon! You know, don't you, that the next book in the series is supposed to be published this fall? I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to reread all the books again so that I'm refreshed and whatnot on all the storylines by the time it comes out. I LOVE her writing and the characters and the art of her books...all the research she's done to make it all so amazingly real and engaging. Sigh. I *heart* Jamie and lust after him, too.

Re: smut. I like smut. Clay smut is fun 'coss it's purely imagination and I like using my imagination. So smut is fun. And in real life it's REALLY fun. :sleezy: And I also love romance. Some of the most sexually stimulating scenes in movies are nothing more than well-acted smoldering glances, you know?

Online I love playing around with words---being smutty by being clever and silly with the English language and giving other people giggles at "that Muski! Say 'x' and she'll smut about it!"...:hahaha: Besides, Clay has some physical features that just BEG to be smutted about....

yes, he does.

I still have my "Mikaela" book---was going to donate to our library, but after reading some of your posts, maybe I'll donate it to my kids' elementary school (where I used to volunteer) instead, huh?

I'm in the "not worrying, just miss him" car. I'm more intrigued and curious than worried, anyway, when it comes to his next career move.

QUESTION: What's worse than people using acronyms that you can't figure out?

ANSWER: When they use an acronym but make a typo... :cryingwlaughter:

Hey, I bet the Clay Aiken fandom rivals NASA for the creation of acronyms. There's even a Facebook group called "I speak fluent Clay Aiken acronyms"! I joined, even though my CAA is only serviceable. :P

No, I didn't, actually! I'm a late starter, so I just read "Voyager" a short while back. I have the other 3, but other "reads" have taken priority. Good to know there'll be another new one soon! My son will love that too, as they're the ones who recommended her books to me.

Hee! I see there's a few of us! For anyone who hasn't read them.....run! You CAN find them secondhand. I did. The library usually isn't really an option, as they're too popular.
