So I get to spend the morning getting a tooth pulled, can't tell you how thrilled I am about that! Emily called and wants me to baby-sit tonight but that is all going to depend on how I am feeling..thinking of telling her to just bring him here for the night so I don't have to drive back and forth and I will have hubby and my other girls to help out.

I hope it doesn't hurt too much aikim. Take it easy today.

Looking forward to Clay on my TV in a few weeks. :twinklewhore:

Getting Mr. Fears recuperation room ready again. It took me several tries and a lot of sweat to get up a pair of curtains in there. Putting up the rod it felt like I was drilling through metal. I also replaced the towel bar that fell off in another bathroom and a few robe hooks. I am so happy I didn't try to make my fortune in construction, not that I ever made my fortune. :cryingwlaughter:

Have a great day. I'm off to see what trouble I can get in today.

Yay for Clay! And am filled with total and complete envy for merrieeee...

Sorry I've been quiet but lots of things have been goin' on...

My best friend from high school kidney's finally gave up the ghost, and she's had the stint for dialysis put in yesterday...

My child is getting ready to ship off to Afghanistan...

And I am realizing I don't actually WANT to turn 50...

Best wishes to your son and your friend.

Yeah I've never really run away from birthdays but I just turned 49 and I'm already looking askance at the whole 50 thing. We should plan something way fun. When's your birthday.

Have a great Saturday everyone.

Fear I hope Mr. Fear is ok. He is a lucky man to have you taking care of him.

Ha ha Merrieee. Are you blogging anywhere about this trip? Facebooking?

Aikim I lived in fear for years of having my wisdom teeth pulled. Finally when I had all 4 pulled all I needed was 2 tylenol to get through it.

I'm very glad KAndre checked in -- sorry to hear about your friend, Godspeed to your son, and yeah -- the 50 thing is freaking me out too. I was fine with both 30 and 40, but this one doesn't make me feel good at all. I've got a year and 3 months to get used to the idea...

The remodeling is pretty much finished! My husband finished up the flooring last night, while I spent about 2 hours pulling nails and taking paint off of floor moulding. Yuck. At this point, we still need to move stuff back into the room (including my desktop computer) and get a futon and window coverings. Most of that will be taking a back seat here quickly though, as we have tickets to see Craig Ferguson's comedy show tonight in Hammond, Indiana.

Fear, take care of that hubby, OK?

merrieeee, I second couchie's idea of at least talking a bit on Facebook about your trip -- can't wait for the details.

Love that we've got some Clay stuff to look forward to soon!

Back from the dentist...they called at 8:00 to see if I wanted to come in earlier than my 9:00 appointment and I said sure, might as well get it over with...went a lot faster than what I expected. It actually took him more time to numb me up than to pull the tooth. I was home by 9:30. It wasn't a wisdom tooth..just a regular tooth, but I have no tooth on the bottom on that side and it really was a useless tooth. Rather than filling the cavity, he decided to just pull it. So far so good, they gave me three Ibuprophen before I left and the numbness still has not worn off...will see in a couple of hours. But last time I had a tooth pulled I was pretty good with just ibuprophen and an ice pack.

I actually had no problem with turning 50...but now that I am heading for 54 in Sept and 60 is around the corner..yeah, that one is going to be a biggie.

When we were at my daughter's bridal shower 3 years ago, her husband's grandmother saw us standing together and asked If I were her sister..that was a real ego boost I tell you...not so sure how she felt about it, LOL!

I love Bratislava! It is a beautiful old European city and hardly any pesky tourists. The food is real stick to your ribs which is great in 95 degrees!

Any Clay news?

So this has been a really sucky day..tooth pulled..driving on my way to pick up the grandbaby and the car dies. Forgot my cellphone, my daughter didn't have hers..so the two of us are sitting there wondering what the hell to do. We are right by a turn on to the expressway. I put on the flashers and finally two good samaritans stop and help us push the car to the side of the road and let us use their phone so I can call Mark. He comes out and we end up having the car towed. He thinks it is the fuel pump. I hope it is nothing major. Stands to reason things were going too well and God had to give me a reminder not to get too cocky.

So I have a sore mouth, no car and no grandbaby to cuddle and make it better...but I do get to spend the rest of the week-end doing homework..Oh joy!

This is what I do when I'm on a trip. You can't get me off Facebook, I'm always uploading pics or updating my status! LOL

See, this is why you all are my people - all I get from people around here is "It's just another number" or "you're only as old as you feel" or worst of all, "Damn, I didn't know you were that old"...

Like ldyj, 20, 30 and 40 didn't bother me - but I'm realizing 20 was 30 frickin' years ago...

The clock runs out on the 27th of this month - and I will be in Vegas for anyone who wants to cheer me up!

Hugs to Mr. Fear, and aikim.

aikim, sorry to hear about your bad day. Good luck with the car...

One more day of vacation. Last night hubby and I saw Craig Ferguson's comedy show at the Horseshoe Casino. He is hysterical, and totally worth it. Then, I lost $20 at the slots. Sigh. Today we hit the road in about an hour, and then it will be back to putting my office back together. If I can get my desktop computer and accessories and TV/TiVo together, I'll be happy.

When i get home, I'll attach a picture of something I saw last night. Good times.

Thanks for the nice thoughts for Mr Fear. His surgery is on August 1, but I'm getting the room ready now since we need a hospital bed and a wheel chair in there for a couple of months. In the meantime, we are taking a short vacation to the beach for a little rest and relaxation soon.

KAndre and couchie, I realized yesterday that the body gets old faster than the mind. When I go to the gym I forget how old I am and get into the moment. Afterwards I suffer. But I am down 9 pounds with about 10 or so to go. So I guess it's worth it. Enjoy your birthday KAndre.

Well my Birthday is coming up and then I have one year till I reach 60. No other Birthday has bothered me but I think that one will. I do not feel that old.

Leaving Tues. morning for another bike tour. We are riding Tues. afternoon with some friends then the official tour starts on Wed. So far the weather looks ok, only a chance of rain near the end of the week. I am trying to get an aircard from a friend to take with me so I can have internet service. The campground does not. If I get a chance I will check in. All I know is that I will be back Sunday evening and will check in about the panel discussion and I am home from work yet on Monday so I can see the Talk.

I'm back, and my desktop computer is setup! Woohoo! After some minor glitches, I think all the major hardware components are functioning. With the carpeting torn out of my office, though -- wow, iTunes really echoes!

As promised -- I saw this last night at the Horseshoe. That was a magical night, and so much fun...

jmh, I seriously considered it....*g*

aikim, the lobby of the theater is LINED with these posters, almost all autographed. It looks to me that Clay and Ruben will be there in their hallways forever. I find that very cool.

OK I admit it, I suck. I should post more. And I don't. Let's see. 50?? Amateurs. Look around to see around who hasn't said they are dreading 50. :cryingwlaughter:

Seriously, as a young thing of just over 60, I can tell you that there's a very good good side to it, as there often is with these things. I think it has more to do with my relationship with myself--more acceptance, and more perspective on a lot of things. I live in a community that has many retired people, among them a lot of good role models for healthy living into the 70s, 80s and even 90s. If you take good care of your body, the 50s and 60s can be quite all right. You'll be surprised how young you think you are when it's you who is 60. :cryingwlaughter:

And I don't think my life has been better than this since sometime in my 20s or 30s. Not that there aren't things I miss, or that those years weren't good. But I feel very good about life, feel like it keeps getting better, even at my advanced age. :twinklewhore:

Your whole quote is perfect jmh. Many, many more happy and healthy years.

The new Carolina On My Mind blog provides an overview of Clay's appearances on the 7/24 Drop Dead Diva segment, the accompanying Outfest 2011 panel discussion (7/17), and The Talk (7/18). Thanks to a CA fan, there is even a map and link detailing detours affecting the LA area July 16-17. Also included are graphics by Ashes and Fountaindawg, one of which is her new July Retro design.

This morning I added the screenwriter's blog, bio link, and excitement about her episode being screened at Outfest. Like others, she seems very, very pleased to have Clay in her episode. :yahoo:

Thank you for taking the time for blog comments, retweets, Facebook posts, links, etc., all of which help spread the word and affect Google/search engine placement. :)

Sending good thoughts for your husband's upcoming surgery, Fear.

So much talk about birthdays, so I checked the calendar. I'm going to spill the beans right now. On the 17th, be sure to include Scarlett. She will be at Outfest and can kick me later. :lmao:

July is going to be fun. Have an awesome week, FCA! :twinklewhore:

Ah the joys of eastern Europe! The cell phone doesn't work and there is no wi fi in the hotel!,,, so we are at McDonalds getting it for free.

I had one of the best meals I have ever had tonight......leg of goose confit with red cabbage and cherries on a bed of potato pancakes! I also had a raspberry meringue with pistachio cream inside. Fabulous! I think I could stay in Budapest. It it just beautiful.

Any clay news?
