jmh, was it you that asked about the keys of the songs on OMWH? I didn't comment on LAA and OMWH, but I can at least tell you that LAA and OMWH are both in the key of Eb major.

gbmifan, I'm sooooo happy for your test results!!! YAY!!!!!

I'll be having an MRI of my lumbar spine on Thursday evening after working all day. Maybe that will be good - I'll be too tired to fidget after being at work all day! Anyway, I don't think they'll find much on the MRI. I think the cause of my sciatica is piriformis syndrome rather than a lumbar spine issue. Piriformis syndrome is an impingement of the sciatic nerve by a tight or scarred piriformis muscle. I'm working with a physical therapist and doing some stretching exercises to see if we can reduce my pain level.

I've had sciatica and mine was caused by a tight muscle on the nerve. Eventually a combination of massage and medication got it straightened out, but it lasted years. Good luck with your test!

YAY for good results for gbmifan!!!

Thanks for the key info--it was I who asked. Here's what I have so far, and if there are other posts with more info, I missed them, so sorry.

OMWH: Eb major

The Real Me: E major

LAA: Eb major

Just a quick drive-by - I have an early appt tomorrow!!

Was someone asking about having their youtube page in Spanish?

Here's what to do, if you haven't figured it out yet.

Up in the right corner you'll see a teeny-weeny flag. Next to the word Site:

Click on that and chose the UK flag, and your page will turn to English!

(I didn't see an American flag on mine... so the Union Jack ought to turn it back to English for you!!)

Claytonic, just adding to the begging to make your quotes a little larger, please, so that we can actually read them!

....

OK, the reason I change the font (as shown above) for the quoted text is because I saw it done in another forum and thought how much easier it was to differentiate what was what when multiple quotes were being used in one post. I'll abandon it if it is causing a problem.

As for the visually impaired, trust me, I am one of them and solved my frustration when I discovered this best kept secret:

HOLD DOWN the Crtl button

and at the same time...

scroll the wheel back and forth on your MOUSE

until you see the size of font most comfortable to you.

This feature also works in numerous other programs including MSN, Word, Gmail, etc etc. I use it all the time and now rarely need to ask someone to increase the size of their font.

Welcome to all the newbies!!!  :F_05BL17blowkiss:

Been busy getting the house back to semi-normal after our fire. Walls are washed, carpets cleaned and I think we're ok. I've popped in a few times to try to keep caught up, but no time to post.

The Real Me had to grow on me...really did not like it at first, but after many listenings I am finally enjoying it.  "How much will they take  before I'm empty" always reminds me of the fandom or I should say some in the fandom who no matter how much Clay gives, it is never enough.Kim

Yeah, this is me too. It really is a beautiful song, but I can't listen to it all the time, or I cry like a baby. I have a very dear friend who was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and was treated horribly by her family when she was growing up. I "see" a lot of her in this song.  :cry4:

If Clay had a late night talk show I could totally see him doing skits such as Carson did with Art Fern and Carnac and some of those characters. Clay could feel free to recreate the Guard scene from Spamalot ANY time for me. And the next night he could go to Camelot, or ride an imaginary horse. I also can see him interested in a Donahue-type show too.  Hopefully, if he gets the show he wants he'll be able to do serious and funny, and sing too. I have a feeling it would be original, a type of show that nobody but Clay could do.

I've always seen Clay as a sort of a young Johnny Carson. Both very sharp-witted, quick, and brilliant comedic timing.

Hooray! Gbmifan congratulations.

Yahooooo!!!!  :F_05BL17blowkiss:

I have horrible sciatica. It's gotten to the point where my leg starts to go numb. I saw a doctor years ago and she told me it was nothing, but at that time I didn't have the numbness. Now, I can't find a doctor to get an initial diagnosis. The specialists require a referral, which I already knew...but it's getting in to see someone to refer me that's a pain in the ass. (No pun intended) Our family doctor "doesn't see patients with back pain". So, I'm still looking. Thanks to all for videos and gorgeous pics!  :thankyou:

Iseeme, stay safe. That's good news about the containment!

Sorry to read about the health issues of some of you. I, too, have had my fair share in the last few months, and it ain't fun. Right now I have to deal with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and the pain wakes me up at night so much that I rarely have a full hour of unbroken sleep unless I take sleeping meds, which I avoid until I can no longer function without some solid continuous hours of sleep. The problem is that I can type and do anything during the day, but at night, that's when the pain sets in. If anyone has any tips for this kind of pain management, please don't keep it to yourself! I don't think I can avoid surgery for much longer but I'd like to if possible.

Got home v. late, but I peeked at the interesting discussions during the last 3 innings. I ::heart:: y'all!!! :arrowed:

gbmifan, Yay for the good news!

laughn, glad you now have the wmv version and Thank you! to the special someone who helped! :F_05BL17blowkiss:

FromClaygary, a team TAR between the eHP and the London folks?!! You're on!!! (I *so* wish; we'd have the bestest fun ever!!!)

{{{Gibby}}} Will be sending you prayers and good thoughts on Thursday! :hugs-1:

annabear, how about meeting up on July 20?

It was great to hear that the fires were contained!

Talk show - yes, definitely!

TRM -- he sang wonderfully but it's not my favorite song. I once connected to these lyrics (well the idea behind them since the song wasn't written yet), completely, fully, even vehemently. It was my biggest argument with my Mom. But now, looking back, I think she was right. If there's a chance to give strength and joy to even a dozen people...

ETA: Need to get some sleep, my multiple edits look weirder than the original. Nite-nite, y'all!!!

ETAA: {{{claytonic}}} too! Carpal Tunnel would be agony for me, because I wouldn't be able to do the things I love! Hang in there! Like play, I should be v. v. thankful!

ETYAA: And {{{Tijala}}} Sorry, I almost didn't see your post!

well, your health stories make me remember how well I have it. I almost have my intestinal problem under control, but it requires daily dose of drugs and I hate drugs.

When I had Carpal tunnel syndrome, I found wearing the brace even when it didn't hurt helped. Sadly, staying off the computer helped the most. I eventually found a better mouse helped and moving my hand around to the music during the day gave it different patterns. Right now, my fingers lock closed and I have discovered that if I sleep on my hands and keep them flat during the night, it doesn't happen, so I got into the habit of putting them under my pillow or under my side, whichever. Just keep trying different things and see what helps you.

I likethe Real Me - I think o it as a wonderful acting job and want to know why people think Clay can't act? The song does start a bit theatrical, but it blossoms and develops from the first sound until it envelopes me. I still have no songs skipped on this album and for the first time in Clay past, listen to the album several times a day. What's that about?

Sounds normal to me, play!

Trying to stay caught up with this speeding train.......I find that the board just goes crazy after I go to bed! It's taken me 45 minutes to catch up this morning. Reading and/or posting from work is pretty hit and miss lately.

Hugs all around to those who need them - big one for gbmifan for the positive test results! :F_05BL17blowkiss:

I love The Real Me, I'd probably rank it second on my list right now, behind EIDN. I've loved it since the snippets and it only got better when we got the full version. I remember being so pissed with QVC when they cut it off! I neeeeeeeeeeeded to hear the rest! :cryingwlaughter:

Looks like a nice day today and I guess I won't call in sick to work after all. I wish I wasn't so damned honest sometimes.

Gibby and Tijala, my sympathies!! This is what I've been struggling with as well; the pain is excruciating and debilitating, and noone who hasn't experienced it has a clue how it affects your entire life.

Tijala, have you tried a chiropractor? Normally, to be honest, I'm scared to death of them. I had a bout with one many years back that almost ruined my back for life and it put me off forevermore....until this last bout with my back. I did the Doctor route for 5 years that last time this happened, the physio route...and neither did a darn thing for me. All the doctor did was pump me full of pills to mask the pain so I could manage daily. The physio cost me thousands and thousands of dollars and didn't do a blessed thing.

The chiropractor I'm going to has turned it around so I can manage to work and do most things, in about 4 weeks....which is about 200 less than it took last time! And chiropractors don't need referrals. I would ask friends/associates in the area for recommendations and give it a try.

and PS.....FIRE????!! I missed something!! I hope everyone is alright!! What happened??!!

A tad sidetracked but wanted to get my two cents in on Real...if it wasn't Clay singing it, I would happily never listen to it again. And I really dislike his whisper-singing in the beginning (almost as much as I disliked it during MGUCW this past year...sing, boy...SING!).

I so agree with this. There were parts of the song that I loved from the start ('How much can they take before I'm empty' 'frailty' and 'belieeeeeeeve'), but the opening was a turn off to me. It sounds theatrical to me, like an acting performance, and while that's fine in a theatrical context, I don't enjoy it on a pop album. I disliked MGUCL for the same reason during the tour. Speaking rather than singing evokes theater to me. I like theater...in the theater.

Once Clay gets past that opening line or 2, though, I love the song. I don't get a gender feel from it at all. Vulnerability is not gender specific.

Hee, I think the London group needs an acronym or something. I had suggested Famous Ontario Posse before, but it doesn't really have a great ring to it....FOP. :cryingwlaughter:

Yep, to each his/her own, I guess. I loved the way he sang MGUCL and also WTOW at times, almost whispered/spoken rather than sung, but then building towards the end. Same thing with TRM. I think it's very effective, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest if he uses techniques like that in song (recorded or live) rather than in theatre.

I (and I know there will be a lot of eye-rolling and gagging when I say this), but once the baby news broke, I could definately hear him singing it to Jaymes...never got the God connection to the song. It just makes more sense to me now.

Kim

I can see both. .... but truth be told, I see him singing this about Jaymes. After reading the linear notes again.... from ATDW, I can see him thinking of/singing this to her.

:iagree:

Also let me just word heidi ho. Shpping is harmless, it's the tearing down of any woman associated with Clay that I hate. Even Klo despite the little tiff that may have occurred which I'm sure by now has been settled. I always have to give Clay  because he does not ever tear down his peers. I wish I could say the same about the peers and some fans.

How about the London Or Vicinity Entourage.... sorta The "LOVE" brigade? Too much?

May I add my 2 cents about TRM? First of all, I'm a lyrics person, so it doesn't matter to me how great a song's melody is if I can't relate to the lyrics. This song, as I confessed to my friend, Bella19, started off almost invasive to me. Like I was eavesdropping at a confessional...and it disturbed me. I felt ashamed to be a fan who would inflict that kind of pain on someone because I was taking it completely from Clay's perspective and thinking he was referring to the fans when he had to put on a mask. The plaintive sound of his vocals at the beginning of the song were breaking my heart. Then I realized as the song progresses, it was really more about hope and growth and when he sings about "loosening my grasp" I realized he was, as he puts it... letting go, and letting God.

It took me awhile, but now I hear it entirely differently, but I still love EIDN (which I play over and over), SUA and ALAWH the best.

Goooood morning. Still smoky outside but it seems to be abating somewhat.

Clay is the master lemonade maker
Thread title?

Carpal tunnel syndrome - ack! I had so many employees through the years that developed that from their 40 hrs/week on computers. Sadly, surgery is really the only thing that will eliminate the pain completely. But I do agree with whomever said wearing the brace even when it doesn't hurt (Play?) helps - that and having the proper mouse and keyboard. Spent alot of $$$ on ergonomic equipment...... I think places like WalMart and Best Buy, etc. sell the keyboards and meeses fairly cheap.

After reading the linear notes again.... from ATDW, I can see him thinking of/singing this to her.

The only thing I could see in the liner notes on ATDW was Executive Producer Jaymes Foster for Peak Productions. Did I miss something? Oh, and he dedicated When I See You Smile "For Kristy!" ?????

Bwah - it's finally dawned on me you folks aren't talking about London, England! Hee!

Man, I hate the work thing!

Yeah, mostly what duckyvee said...I want him either to talk or sing, but the (and the word I almost put down was half-assed) sorta tuneful whispering? No. Just no. It just sounds fake (theatrical) and too clearly a contrivance and something I never thought I would see with Clay singing - thin-sounding...Clay can sing very softly and beautifully and restrained in order to build to a crescendo in what would be more natural to me. It's he's trying too hard to sound pitiful in the beginning which puts an itch in my slapping hand. The way he sings the second half? Beautiful, evocative, exposed...like he realizes the pseudo-pitifulness isn't working and lets me see the real vulnerability.

FromClaygary, "posse" clearly needs to be in the name...how 'bout almost as evil as Houston (but not quite - actually naughty's more like it) London Posse? (aaeaH(bnq-anmli)LP? Or just *n*LP to save wear and tear on typing?

Clay's thanks on ATDW....

"Jaymes Foster how we ended up on the same page at the same time in each other's lives, I may never understand. What I do know is that I'm thankful daily that God saw fit to introduce me to someone as talented, wise and genuine as you. That you believe in me enough to take on this project with me and stick with it through so much has been one of the biggest blessings I've been given..but not as big as the blessing of having you as a trusted and indispensable friend."
