Wouldn't dream of reading the comments. Who needs that shit? Wheeeeee for the article, I'm getting v.v. excited to find out what the set list is! Sounds like we will get some Tried and True after all! I hope Clay sings It's Only Make Believe, EEEEEEEEEEEEEE! Is it Friday yet?

To all the travelers.... be safe and have fun.

I'm happy to hear about some shows in February. It feels strange going to one show. Now I have something to look forward to!!

Luckiest! Have fun at your Elvis thingie.

Treenuts... hug.

I know what you mean Couchie, I opted for just one T&T (Reno) so I could do the Chicago special concert and Gala. Looking fwd to Reno but doesn't feel like a "true" Clay trip for some reason. Planning to listen to the stream on Friday, maybe that will help.

(((Treenuts))), prayers for you and your daughter.

Safe travels to all those who are (or soon will be) on their way to Asheville. First concert!!!!1!!11!!!!1! One of these days I will get to one of those. But then I have three TT's on the schedule this time and am absolutely thrilled with that. Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!:confetti2:

Loved the article - the comments, not so much. Nothing I read on the internet surprises me any more - but it sure does reinforce my belief that Clay is doing the right thing keeping Parker out of the public eye as much as possible. It is amusing how the more narrow-minded and nasty the comments are, the poorer the grammar becomes.

I'm looking forward to my two concerts, and I'm glad that there's 2 weeks between them, because who knows what changes will happen in the show during that time.

For those fairly new, or for those who need a refresher, as it's been almost 2 years since we've had concerts to report on...

FCA traditionally turns each concert thread into a mini chat room for the current show. For example, for Friday night at Asheville, I'll be listening to the CH cellcert and then making comments/reporting in this thread:

Asheville show

If I remember, I'll sticky the current night's show a few hours before so the thread is easy to find. I'll also post a link in the main thread about 30 minutes before the show starts.

The entire concert list thread is here: Timeless Tour

As for M&G reports and concert recaps -- please post them both in the general thread, but if you can, also in the concert thread. Makes it easier to find recaps 3 years down the line!

I won't be able to listen to every show, so hopefully someone around here will be able to be a cellcert reporter for each show. It also helps if we can find a person listening to the CH cellcert and also the CV cellcert.

Great article but do not read the comments!

Don't have to warn me. I've never read comments to online articles - about anything. A waste of time.

ETA: I'll be listening to the CV cellcert, LJ. And, I also have two weeks, exactly two, between my Saturday nights in Reno and Biloxi. I'm sure every show on the tour will be unique. I'M SO EXCITED!!!

Hmmm - I got the impression (from the video one) he's tired of answering the same questions. I am not one to project things on him but something about this one just doesn't sit right with me - he didn't seem happy. He did say he was in Mexico last week (vacationing one assumes). Guess that old iPad doesn't work from there :-/ Meh.

On a squee-worthy note though, I just got a shipping notice from WTTV!!!!!!!!! Squeeeeeee!!!!! And I got Clay's my package in the mail from OFC yesterday. Tote bag is cheap, but the keychain is purrrrrdy, as is the mousepad.

ETA: Bwah! that print interview may be the funniest thing he's ever done. *snort*

I actually thought Clay had the "fan questions" pegged quite well -- he knows that "we" want to hear the same answers (royal "we," if it doesn't fit you, it doesn't fit). I think some of the questions were leading to a "I hate RCA" answer, except that he didn't give that. *g* Maybe he was annoyed, but I don't think it was toward Rodney per se.

Supposedly the radio interview is a stitch -- can't wait to hear it.

My OFC tote bag is my first choice for a grocery bag now -- and it holds a LOT. I've collected a lot of these tote bags over the years (as a librarian, you get them ALL the time), but this one is made comparably to those I've received recently, but it has a wider bottom, meaning more stuff can be held!

Thanks for all the  ladies. It's been a sleepless week to say the least.

Loved all the interviews! Thank you for posting them. I thought he did seem either tired or slightly irritable during the Rodney Ho interview but I was pleased with how RH conducted it. What I found most interesting was how well Clay completely skirted the "Hunchback" question. Yea, probably just wishful thinking on my part. :whistling-1:

My favorite was this one though....

I listened, and I didn't get anything "new." But it's fun anway...

especially the last part:

Q: You went through a lot together. Competing on “Idol” eight years ago. Clay, you became a father. Ruben, you got married. A lot of life changes for you. Where do you see yourself in another eight years?

Aiken: Probably married to each other.

Bwah!

treenuts, I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. I hope everything works out ok.

I also agree about the Rodney Ho interview. He didn't seem himself. Maybe just a bad day, but I also thought he was more annoyed by the fan questions. Can't say I blame him considering they were things that he had already answered at the OFC.

I loved the interviews with Clay and Ruben and can't wait to see those two together.

I didn't think he was annoyed with the interview (Rodney) at all - just thought he didn't seem happy in general, and with the questions in particular. But then in the radio interview he's hilarious and the print one, as well, so who knows what might have been going on during the first one. Like I said, I don't generally project emotions onto him but definitely got a bad vibe from that one. As always, mileages vary. I do know I'd like him to 'use his voice' on the OFC once in a while (not just when he wants us to buy/support something). Again - mileages, yadda yadda yadda.

Also didn't think he skirted the Hunchback question - he said he hadn't even heard of it. Of course I never believed he would do Spam, either :hahaha:

Argh, can't watch video at work! Does he say anything we didn't already know?

Well, he didn't rule out the bus lines. He said those are impromptu and maybe they will and maybe they won't depending on the circumstances. I'm thinking for casinos where they may be sleeping overnight, it would be a no. But for venues where he'd be departing that night, maybe.

I didn't think he sounded off for that interview. I thought he was impatient with the same old questions he's had time and again, where he knows we know the answer. I don't think Clay is a patient man for repetition, and I think he's sick to death with the Idol questions. The one asking if he'd like to do a talk show was a waste of time. Some of those questions were attempting to spoon-feed his answer, and I think that chaffed him a bit. He think he naturally balks at being played, even by fans.

I thought the discussion about international touring was interesting. Sounds like he's of two minds with that -- yes he'd like to, but then again he doesn't want to lose his anonymity when he travels abroad.

Regarding the Hunchback question, am I the only one who hopes he's not going back to Broadway anytime soon? I want him on the road and doing his own shows and making the bucks for himself! But then, I haven't heard any news about Hunchback even being a Broadway possibility for a long time, so I don't think he was hedging anything.

Looking forward to Bert and Ernie because with Clay it's a wonderful life!

It's good to have a day off so I could put together a blog without lesson interruptions. The new Carolina On My Mind features the media promos for the Timeless Tour. I believe they preview the humorous banter and musical styles Clay and Ruben will share in 17 venues.

Also included are Decca's little known "Tried & True" jukebox promotion, Fountaindawg graphics, and "firsts" grandchildren Kai and Lia are experiencing on their trip to Hawaii. They've just arrived for a six-week stay with friends of their Mom.

I have a tweet under "All Friends." If anyone retweets it, the Carolina notice will go into the Clay Aiken column on Tweet Deck -- seriously! Many thnx, too, for your Carolina visits and comments which help the Internet Clay blogs compete at Google.

Hee, that radio interview is a hoot! 85 songs? LOTs of medleys, sounds like. And one each that they've recorded. Strip tease in act 2? Bwah!

That's my favorite, too. :whistling-1:

Hang in there, treenuts. I have been through tough times with my daughter. Hopefully, there is light at the end of the tunnel for you, too. :thbighug-1:

Safe travels to all heading to concerts. Unfortunately, my money will be going towards replacement AC and heating units; but I'll be listening to the CV stream and enjoying your recaps. :snoopy:

Have a fun week, all! :yahoo:

I actually quite enjoyed that video interview....I think sometimes he has a bit of a short fuse with agenda-laden questions (like the one about record labels, etc) but I didn't get the impression that he was in a bad mood. I think he was not aware that the video was going to be shown, he thought it was more of a print interview situation and he didn't necessarily put on his "I'm on TV" face if you know what I mean. Seemed more natural, more like a conversation you might have with him off camera.

The more interviews I read and see and hear today the more excited I am about this tour! EEEEEEEEEEEE, it's been almost 3 years folks!!!! So awesome to be doing this again. I've already filled out my timesheets at work with "Vacation" for the days I'll be gone in August. cryingwlaughter.gif No, I'm not anxious at all....

Good interview but he could possibly be very tired. Clay looked like he was having a hard time keeping his eyes open. Wait, maybe that's me who can't keep her eyes open. I think he was a little low energy but performing in front of an audience will definitely change that. In addition to getting the show together, I think appearing at various PBS stations to sell himself probably takes more out of his energy level than performing does.

:yahoo: Asheville.

I watched the interview again and absolutely nothing about it bothered me, except Clay incessantly sucking his teeth or whatever that was he was doing.

Actually, the angle of the camera reminded me so much of one of his first Jaded Journalist interviews when he discussed being called back for the wildcard. Clay still has that touch of innocence in his facial expressions and it's still completely disarming and adorable. But the teeth sucking ... ARGGGGHH! Okay, I admit that's a peeve of mine.

:hello:Fear Can't wait to meet up!

We are here! The directions from Mapquest said it would take 10 hours...well I guess if you didn't stop for gas, food or to pee and went about 80 miles an hour the whole way it would...took us about 13...pretty uneventful until we got into Tennessee..ran into a storm driving through mountains; pouring rain, thunder, lightening..I am trying to give my husband directions...he is looking for an exit through sheets of rain on the windshield. Missed the exit so we had to turn around, but finally got on the right road and then it was clear sailing until Ashville. Very pretty country to drive through. Hubby is still upstairs in bed...I decided to come down and say hello!

Looking forward to seeing the Rodney Ho interview when I get back.

Heading to explore the area and do some antiquing!

One more night until I see Clay!

Kim
