I know - I was shocked!

Well, Scarlett left last night for Manila and I'm getting ready to head for Guangzhou - mainland China! We'll meet up again in Macau - I have every faith that my $33/night, 4-star hotel (self-rated!) will live up to my expectations! It's the 广州鹏安大酒店 or the Peng An.

Talk to y'all from China!

I think they also brought us a picture menu to choose because oddly enough the phrase "I love Clay's butt" didn't help a lot in this situation

Who knew! (tm KingArthur) :cryingwlaughter:

KAndre - your travelog is hysterical!

SB - safe travels. I hope your aunt is okay.

KAndre... I'm so happy when you travel cause your sharing is soooo much fun!!! :cryingwlaughter::cryingwlaughter:

Gibby... have some sopapillas in Old Town. They are supreme and Old Town is the only place I've ever found where you get them fixed right! There's a restaurant on one of the corners of the main square where we always went to get them... heck with the entre, just bring the sopapillas with honey!!!

Nice NJU story... I had a session with a lady I work with all the time on vitamins/herbs for healing. I was talking about the stress on the boards in the last couple of months and this gal (who is 85yrs old) didn't know who Clay Aiken was. Her partner spoke up and said, "He is this huge international star. He has fans all over the world and they have a special name for them... (I chimed in with Claymates and ClayNation). She said she'd seen him on tv recently saying he would like a talk show one day." Didn't know anything other than that. I LOVED it that that's all she knew about him.

Iseeme I wanted to answer in regard to your questions about Clay's interview and Miss Oklahoma. One of the questions Shaun Robinson asked him was either who he would like to take to the AMA or the type of girl he would like to take and Clay responded "someone like Miss Oklahoma". He then went on to say that she was smart and gorgeous. I remember because at the time I was not an internet fan but I had caught that interview. I was keeping my fingers crossed that she would be his date. The night of the AMA, I was at a concert and when I came home I couldn't wait to tune in to the show. When they showed a clip of Clay walking the red carpet with Amber, I noted that he didn't take Miss O. afterall but dang, I did think he and Amber made the cutest couple.

Also, you are correct about there being a print article about he and Miss O. In fact, I have the mag right in front of me. It was "In Touch" dated Nov. 10, 2003 and the title of the article was "Has Clay found his Miss Right? I don't know how to scan the article but here's the gist of the article. It goes on to say that Kelley Scott caught the singer's eye when they met at the MAP and Kelley told In Touch that she can hardly wait to go on a date with him. The article actually is very nice and it portrays Clay in a very positive way. Below is the final paragraph of the article --

So when will Clay and Kelley finally have a chance for that first date? Well, this ladylike Southwestern beauty says that the ball is firmly in Clay's court. We haven't spoken since the MAP, Kelly said wistfully. We'll just have to wait and see if he calls." Over to you Clay.

Now this was back in 2003 and at a time when I actually believed what was in these magazines. I think I'm not the only one who has since learned that these mags take a bit of the truth and embellish and put their own slant on a piece so who knows if this Kelley actually said this. It does sound like a direct quote but OTOH, I am reading here at FCA that she was engaged so I'm confused why she would have been waiting for Clay to call.

As I read this article now for the first time in years, I am reminded of a time when things said about Clay were so much more favorable and obviously when it was more widely accepted that he was a young single, available man who was interested in women. When and where the heck did it all take such a nosedive? After the tabloid crap of 2006?

Didn't Kim locke give an interview once where she was discussing how not neat he was around the house and how he would bring people home at the spur of the moment, like a miss America once, and the house would be a mess.

I think K'Andre has adventures surround her even when she just goes to work. Some people jsut have an "air about them" and adventures seek them out.

Hello, POLympics.

Blyecth, Patooey, pffft!

Think we could just put both candidates on the track and let 'em go at it??!

First man to cross the line is the new prez??!!

Save us all a lot of time and money and aggravation!

Just getting ready to start the Closing Ceremonies - but, thanks Belle for remember and quoting that MAP'ish article. As for when the gay talk started - something in my warped memory remembers a comment made by Simon after AI - something about "that guy is soooo gay!" But - not sure. I do think the talk started before '06 though because remember Diane addressed it in the Primetime Interview....

Okay - off to the TV!

Goodnight all.

And thanks for the suggestion about the sopapillas. I love sopapillas! Unfortunately, I found out that I'm allergic to wheat and gluten a month ago. I tried eating a cookie (laden with wheat flour and gluten) last week, and did I ever feel awful! :( So it looks like sopapillas are right out.

I'm really sad to see the Olympics end, too. I've enjoyed watching them so much! Heeeee - your suggestion about the election is pretty funny. Don't we wish? It seems like the political stuff has been going on for so long now, and we still have another month and a half to go.

The DNC is here in Colorado, starting tomorrow. Hubby normally works in downtown Denver, but it's going to be a zoo there this week, so he's teleworking. He works for the federal government, and they call it 'teleworking' rather than 'telecommuting.' Cracks me up!

I have to admit I'm getting rather pissed at the closing ceremonies. They keep interrupting it. I've seen the Phelps swim, uh like 100 times already adn they are screwing with the continuity of the closing ceremonies..can't even get into the feel of it. Next Olympics I will be looking to alternatives to American network tv, even if i have to pay for it.

But it is nice to hear Clay's name all over the place. Stanley Clay on the US vollyball team and Clay something or other that won the decathalon. If they actually showed that event I missed it in my 100s of hours of watching.

Gay talk has been there from the beginning and will always be there no matter what Clay does for the rest of his life.

It's Sunday night already. Geesh. Ooh but next monday is a holiday. Something to look forward to.

OK my sister has had the puppy for one day and my little lioness is already crying that now that they have the puppy no body cares about her. Thank god I'm not a parent. I really don't know how ya'll deal.

I didn't look at anything re the olympics, maybe I should have. Anyhow I'm new here. Just wanted to ask about the pic of clay and his mother coming of the hospital. Doesn't it seem like Faye has those hospital baby pics in her purse? just seems like them to me.

Hey, Couchie, my dear girlfriend! *SMOOCHES*

I've been watching Olympic coverage at:

http://www.nbcolympics.com/

You can pick and choose what you're going to watch, and fast forward through stuff you don't want to see. There are short commercials now and then, but not nearly as much as on TV. They have the entire opening ceremonies on that site, and I'm assuming they will have the closing ceremonies, too.

Thank you Gibby I honestly couldn't take it and changed to the Food Network. And that's after watching 5 hours a day for 2 weeks straight. I love bobby Flay. Hee actually wrote Bobby Clay and had to edit LOL. I will go there this week and watch the decathalon and closing ceremonies.

Ooooh Chach...congrats...dang... how many days do I have left before I'm torn limb from limb?

Can you provide a link or directions, Gibby, when you get a chance? I went over there again looking for the Opening Ceremonies and couldn't find them. I've tried before. I'd like to see the uninterrupted Closing Ceremonies too. I can find videos of various events, but there's no search function, and I've tried various categories from the navigation menus, but none has been the right one.

Ooooooooo kaaaaaaaay...

Well, I'm in my hotel in Guangzhou watching some sort of three inch bug have seizures. I think the Peng An may have optimistically added a couple of stars to their self rating.

I'll talk to y'all later as the only map they had is completely in Chinese. They did circle the hotel for me.

Off I go into the wild blue yonder...

coming back to add that I am watching Chinese TV and am watching an ad for the tackiest cell in the history of the world...bling-bling has been mentioned several times...and the phone will apparently totally lower any inhibitions (or standards) of any woman exposed to it. Sheesh.

Thanks for this link (which appears to work for Canadians!) I have to admit I have watched v.v. little of the Olympics. Maybe I can catch some highlights or at least the ceremonies I missed.

On this day in 2005: Clay performed his JBT Concert at the Toronto, Ontario, Canada Molson Amphitheater. Happy 3rd anniversary, Claynadians! Hee, as soon as I turned on my computer and saw cindilu2's awesome retro August calendar wallpaper, it jumped into my head! I verified with the FCA timeline. What a great day that was.

Wonder how the new little one is doing?

:kirtsun_05: :Laie_6: :crib: :connie_42:

:dadrocks:

Why so many emoti's you ask?

I was going to add one, but photobucket is being a poopiehead to me lately! :pffft:

So - I came to check and we already had him anyway. :)

Um - DWTS?

Misty May Trainer is going to be one of the "stars"!

I was hoping that rumor wasn't true. I don't know why.

A little too much like cashing in?

What do I know? Maybe she has always loved dancing???

The rest of the list?

Not gonna make me want to watch at all!

Give me SYTYCD any day of the week!

Morning! Kind of foggy here this morning, but it's supposed to burn off later in the day. I'm hoping I have an opportunity for a "later in the day" here; keep your fingers crossed for me. I haven't heard from my company yet, but it's early in Alberta just yet.

OK, it's my turn....WTH is a "Misty May Trainer"?? :lmaosmiley-1: Sounds like a porn film star? Or am I completely out of the loop as usual?

I've never cared for or watched DWTS; I'm with you Cotton!...and am also wondering how 2-week old Sweet P and his Daddy and Mommy are doing....

From Claygary so glad you're enjoying your holiday and crossing my fingers that you don't get the dreaded call from the office!

Not a DWTS watcher either, but I love SYTYCD. My guilty pleasure is Survivor, though. MY DH and I have watched it every year, since Season 2, unlike AI, where we stopped after Season 2.

I have no idea who Misty May Trainer is either!

"Sweet P", awwww, I just love that name! :lilredani:

ETA: Thanks for clearing up the Misty mystery, Cotton! We were watching the Canadian Olympic coverage here, so I missed Misty's victory. (Whew, try to say that 5 times in a row!)

I feel bad, but I just.could.not get into the Olympics this year. Don't really know why.

*yawn* Still waiting on the coffee to kick in. Thankfully this is a short week with a looooong weekend coming up...

Oh, I love Misty!

She and Kerri Walsh won gold in beach volleyball for USA.

I think she is Misty May, married Mr. Trainer, therefore is Misty May Trainer.

:)

Ahhh, OK! I think I was able to watch that for about 5 minutes at one point  but I obviously didn't retain her name.

I love Survivor too! The glimpses of different countries really intrigue me, and it's very suspenseful, which catches my interest. I seem to miss a lot of it for whatever reason, but those I do catch I enjoy.
