Believe me - I don't disagree AT ALL that Clay appearing on AI would be a good thing! But I do feel there is some kind of an agenda where he's concerned and with the show. First he broke his contract and left them!!! That was probably galling. Then every time he's on the show he overshadows whoever else is! His little "feud" or whatever you want to call it with Simon is irritating. Simon has had nothing good to say about him since the show was over. His "Nancy Grace" remark was not only uncalled for but rude - exactly what one would expect from Simon when the subject doesn't comply to his wishes or fit his ideal of a pop star! And I do think Clay is sick and tired of being asked AI questions when he's trying to promote his latest CD. But I believe Clay - that his AI days are over! Completely and irrefutably over! He's accepted that so I am accepting it. And quite frankly, if he needs an appearance on AI to sell his CD.....then he really does have to go back to the drawing board! JMO.

I still believe there is a higher plan for this recording. I still believe that it's going to take time - and Clay even paraphrased that comment in his blog! I just don't believe that someone as tuned in to his career as Clay is would put out a CD, promo it for 2 weeks and then take the summer off and say "what the hell!" He's too competitive and too much of a professional. There IS a plan. We're just not privvy to it.

I agree that there is a plan. It's (shouldn't be after all this time but is) surprising to me how many people think that they are entitled to that info!

I'm a fan - that doesn't entitle me to much really - he puts out a CD, I either like it and buy it or I don't. I go to concerts if I can afford it and want to or don't. I can support his charitable endeavors if I believe in them and choose to or not. Hopefully he puts out CDs and tours but what more am I entitled to?

Be privy to his plan? Not.a.chance. Unless he wants to tell the fandom, it's none of my business. I don't question what's going on because I don't have all the information and I'm not entitled to know it. So it is what it is and I can live with that. Don't need to get my panties in a twist over something I have no control over.

I agree with Claygasm - I think it can, I think it can, I think it can!

Good Lord, there must be some powerful mushrooms out there that people are eating in their salads.

BWAH! Good thing I don't like mushrooms.

Gloom, despair, and agony on me

Deep, dark depression, excessive misery

If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all

Gloom, despair, and agony on me

You know, I think the last time I thought of this song (dear Lord, I'm having "Hee Haw" flashbacks....) was in 2006 or so....about the time ATDW started dropping off the charts.

I'm totally with 00lsee -- this album will be what it is, which in my case is a "fantastic album of great songs, sung by a really cute and very talented man." Having said that, I also love CG at the moment, for "I think it can" is the mantra I've been saying for this album for a bit now. I've actually said that for much of Clay's career, and I think it's done me well.

Question: when is an album considered "dead?" Many fans considered ATDW "dead" after a few weeks. But yet -- Ken Barnes of USA Today kept reporting that ATDW was selling 200-300 copies a week through most of this year. I think with the release of OMWH, that number went up to 500 last week. Let's do some simple math here: 200-300 copies a week would be

10,400-15,600 copies a YEAR for the sales of that album. I just have to think that ATDW isn't dead right now, let alone what OMWH will be soon. Many artists would KILL for sales of 10000 a year. So, I'm not counting ANYTHING as dead yet.

There IS a plan. We're just not privvy to it.

ITA. I also think that bugs some fans -- some that need to know every damn thing that goes on in the man's life (personal or professional).

AI porn with Clay? I'm soooooo there.

Yes, but do you get sooper sekrit text messages from him and is his completely ignoring you at the stagedoor actually a shout-out? :imgtongue:

Gavin DeGraw's last album was out for a long time with limited sales, and then it got re-issued with a disc of live performances which helped give it a longer shelf life. I assumed he toured during that period, too. DeGraw eventually also got the benefit of having a song used on TV, some radio play, and a bit of attention from the hipster crowd for a video directed by Zach Braff. I will be watching his numbers relative to Clay's. Partly because he's about the only other solo male pop singer on the chart right now, and partly because Gavin's had all the "stuff" some fans think Clay should have had this time around - a moderately successfully radio single that been out for a bit (I have no idea where it is on the charts, but I hear "In Love With A Girl" playing on my local Hot AC station), and those mid-level singing performances ( I heard him advertised as being on R&K last week, and I think he's scheduled for Kimmel this week, etc.)

Amid all the CD stuff, does NObody else want to perform porn with Clay on AI? :DoClay:

Hah - "I'm not dead yet!" (tm Not Dead Fred) but I think I would scare the poor sweetsingerman half to death if the subject of "porn" and Iseeme came up in the same sentence!!!! I mean we could blindfold him and tie his hands behind his back and then maybe I'd have a chance....... :cryingwlaughter:

Without getting all schmaltzy and schmoopie.....I am SO glad I found this board and a bunch of people who (1) don't eat weird mushrooms that cause hallucinations and imaginations; and (2) don't get all het up about things out of our control!!!

I dont' have a texting plan. Cheap cheap.

Now, clay did not ignore me at the stage door, he stopped in front of me and spoke to a few of us (Fear included) in February and told us we were too quiet, we should make more noise, the actors like it that way. Now, since we were not lying in bed, I assume he was talking about the audience and the stage door. There were no screams when Clay emerged, just please sign this and thank yous. There were not many of us out there in the cold.

Make my musrooms shitake or baby bella.

It is going to be 100 degrees out here in Houston today but there is more doom and gloom out there in the Clay Nation, you think it was thundering! I haven't seen this much gloom since...oh I don't know.....Oh yeah since ATDW came out!

Give me a break!!!

More and more, though, my time fandom has become more personal. I don't feel any pressure to be or behave in a certain way. I have made many wonderful friends through it and that is the best thing to come from it for me. I could be as big a fan of Clay Aiken whether I was on the boards or not.....how I feel about his music and how he comes across to me on television are my own feelings and they don't change because of a review or because someone else feels differently. I find the differences of opinion interesting they don't really alter my feelings.

I try to accept that I don't have any influence over the person or persons (and other such dumbasses) who came up with the bust thing on Kimmel....puhleese! There are many many people out there who are getting paid for jobs they just arent' that good at. Why should TV be any different? Nepotism is everywhere, no?

This is how I feel about my fandom. I just do whatever the hell I please, and fortunately have the support of my hubby and kids. (somewhat :D) I used to get picked on a bit, but now it has subsided a bit.

I remember my sister asked once "what is it about this singer that makes you want to drive all the way to NC to see him?" And I really didn't have an answer to that!!

What's that phrase? "If you understand it, no explanation is necessary, and if you don't, no explanation is possible."

That's just the way it is, movin' south. :D

Hey, I didn't say I was WRITING porn! I said I wanted to DO porn with Clay.

But then, of course, if it were Clay and I DOING it, I wouldn't be calling it PORN...it would be...

Cluski.

Yeah.

I like that.

Cluski Sex. :hubbahubba:

I had a similar conversation with a friend we met up with in NYC, cha cha. She was puzzled when she called my cell phone and Clay answered! :D Then she was really puzzled when we got to talking about Spamalot and told her we were seeing it twice (well, at that time, that was the plan....). I didn't know how to explain it. I finally said it was like a Beatles thing and then she seemed to get it - "Ah, say no more, I understand."

I am a few days behind.... right now I am reading your discussion about hair........ and would like to add my opinion.

I love his look right now..... LOVE IT!!! The red/blond is great on him, the style is great. ..... one of the better ones. I watched the country award show Sunday night and saw several men with the same style..... Keith Urban comes to mind.

I am one that does NOT like bangs on him nor the dark hair. I love the strawberry blond and feel this is probably close to his natural color and therefore looks great with his skin tones. There are times when mother nature is right.

I wish he would quit coloring his hair..... and throw away the flat iron. Maybe he will give it a rest while home.

It is nasty out their reading all the doom and gloom. Even though I am not happy with sales, reading all this makes someone like me who is normally a happy person, really depressed. All I care is that his fans love the CD. It only took less than two weeks for people (his so called fans) to start being critical of his music and his voice. Why can't people be happy for him. If I hear one more time that his voice is to pretty I am going to puke. His voice is why I am here. I love it on this CD and I find it so hard to believe that his fans are now starting to question him. I could say more, but I will leave it at that. Rant over.

Can I stay here too? At least until tomorrow when I won't have any internet or even cell phone service until Friday evening. I won't know his numbers this week and i don't even care. Getting upset about somethiong I can't control isn't in my book. I'm still rooting for Hillary. Must be that Hillary Clinton optimism.

I'm starting to think that I must be the cause of that phrase as I was sitting in the front row at Spamalot the last night wearing my Hillary button. But I had been wearing it everyday since March so it wasn't for any reason other than good luck or maybe bad luck. I am definitely an optimist.

Also being highly competitive, I ain't given up until the buzzer goes off. There's always that one last jump shot that might make it in.

I think I'd be skeered to. Just reading about the poor souls who were foolish enough to kiss a bust of Clay on national TV, can you imagine the fallout if someone actually performed porn with him? Can you hear it? "How embarrassed he must have been!" "Poor guy - why couldn't they pick someone young, prettier, slimmer?" "Why didn't she move more?" "Why did she move so much?" "Her fat ass blocked my view of Clay!!" "It wasn't long enough!"

I haven't been to another Clay board in ages, but I'm really surprised that there are people that don't like the CD. Seriously. I know we're talking Clay fans here, and there are some that are never satisfied, but I was just so pleased with the way this CD turned out, I can't imagine a fan not liking it. Color me clueless?
