LOL! Seriously, dewds - I can't see a thing when I try to post. Eeeps!

Do you mean in the composition window? Because I can see everything, so it must be an IE6 thing. But how weird that must be for you!!

IE6? Eeep! Upgrade, peoples!!!

Okay - quicky banner up there - at least maybe people will know where they've landed!!! I haven't figured out if I can make it wider yet - don't want to mess too much with it during the day but I'll try it later on.

Poo! It doesn't look like we can have the custom message on the hover anymore though. *pout*

IE6 is a corporate decision, so I’m stuck with it during the day, sadly.

There’s a composition box in the posting window, but nothing appears there when I type. (I’m typing this in Word and copying it over – I hope…)

Also, how do we get into our pm box? Or is that just another browser anomaly for me?

I'm using Firefox here at work, and I can see exactly as I type. IE6, IMO, should be banished, but I know several workplaces still insist on it. bottlecap, can you "upgrade" on your own (or add another browser)?

One of the nice things I discovered is that I can now look at new registrants and mark them as "spammers" if I figure out that they truly are spammers (such as those with email adddresses as "buyviagranow@gmail.com").

It will take a while to get used to, but I like it.

bottlecap, in the top right hand corner of the page is your screen name. If you click on it, a pull down menu appears, and one of the options is "Messenger." In the meantime, convince corporate that IE6 sucks, and that they need to get with the program!

Thanks for coming up with something so quickly!

:GA_FCA:

I passed along the link and am going to check it against the one in the Carolina On My Mind sidebar.

Couch Tomato, could you send me the email? No rush, but I have the box checked now and would be interested in reading what you said once you catch up on your sleep. Also, do we know what is going to happen with the other side of FCA yet?

Clay's going to sing! Life is good. Have a great day, all! :snoopy:

Got my e-mail. Thanks, couchie!

It did rattle me a bit when I first got here this morning but it's growing on me. But but....the banner! It's so......small! Somehow it seems a crime to have something so small for someone so LARGE :cry4:

Ok, that's it for my whining today. It does seem so new & sleek though. :friends: for all the hard workers who keep this board and it's content up for us!

Wow! Way new and different. It will be fun to see how you all 'decorate.' :loveclaysbutt:

Okie dokie, some decorations for laughn

What happens to the pictures? I opened on one posted by treenuts, and they all were gone when I returned to the page. I can see the links while typing this post.

ETA: I see what happened. I didn't have the window open deep enough to see the "X" in the corner. :whistling-1:

I wonder if the old way of posting pix works. Here's a clickable graphic by cindilu2 I recently ran in the blog:

Thnx for the email, cindilu2. :)

Off to get a much-needed haircut ... :cryingwlaughter:

Kewl. The images are loading into a lightbox - not too sure how that will work in older browsers but it's pretty neat in Firefox. I *think* it only happens with images uploaded to the board.

Let's try...

Clay is answering questions again....and he said the answers for his Special can travel.

I mentioned SECTIONS A though E.. not rows.. sections.

Those sections are close to the stage and will at times be on camera. THose sections are close enough to not need binoculars, and having folks hold binoculars at such a close range while on camera looks a bit odd. I don't want anyone to be able to perpetuate inaccurate stereotypes because they see folks holding binoculars on camera.

If we tour, you can bring binoculars, signs, cameras (as long as you ''black tape'' the flash), and whatever... but for this TV special... nah!

2. Do you know if there will be a large screen on the stage? You know, the ones that telecast the concert? That may put an end to the binocular discussion (maybe). To my knowledge there will be no video screens. I'm not 100% apprised of all of the things that the TV folks will be using. This show sort of has two separate aspects... the live show and the TV part. I know all about the live part and am in control of how that looks, but there are other folks who are in charge of the TV parts. Simon and Mary are sort of overseeing it all... but I don't have all of that information for you now. I wouldn't count on video screens this time.

Let's sell this show out and make it a big enough hit for PBS, then sell enough albums that we can have a huge budget if we get to do another one. Look at how big budgetted Bocelli's PBS specials are!!! ;-)

3. Clay, do you mind if the questions and your answers are posted on other Clay boards as a lot of the OFC members frequent other boards on a more regular basis?

Yeah.. for these purposes, it's fine. Thanks for asking.

4. Do you want us to allow "red reports" to be posted on the OFC after the taping or are we to keep everything off the board?AFTER the show is over on Friday night, I welcome discussion about it. But I do hope that no one .. on ANY board ... will encourage folks to break the no cell phone rule by posting red reports during the show. Let's wait til after the show has ended and folks have left. Cool?

5. The assumption from your comments is that no cell phones are to be turned on or used in the venue at all during the taping, be it intermission or whatever. Can you please confirm this so as there will be no possible misunderstanding?

No CELL PHONES!

Aucuns téléphones portables

Ningunos teléfonos móviles

Nenhuns telefones móveis

Keine Handys

Geen mobiele telefoons

Отсутствие мобильных телефонов

沒有移動電話

Really folks? ;-)

6. As this is a special event and not a tour, will there be any merchandise for sale other than possibly a program?

Damn.. a program!?!?

That would have been a good idea.

No.. No mechandise.

7. Are you aware that the Progress Center has your "On My Way Here" album as the picture on the site for your appearance?

Yeah... we're working on it

8. A member has asked a question that may apply to more than one person so I'm going to put it in here.

She purchased her solo ticket in good faith in the hopes that she will have recovered enough from a leg problem to be able to attend. If her health does not permit her to go, she would like to know if she can gift it to a friend of hers.

Uh.... I can't get into the habit of answering individual questions. But.. for now.. I would recommend asking TicketMonster ;-)

OMG He cracks me up. #5 especially. Really, folks???? *snort*

The man has far more patience than I.

eta: Why would somebody not be allowed to 'gift' a ticket? Once it's purchased it's nobody business who uses it, no? *scratches head*

Well, typing and not seeing anything is kinda weird... how can I proofread??? LOL

I sorta like the new board, but feel very strainge not going directly to View New Posts. I would like the email, too. Oh, wait... I should check my email first, huj!!! Da!!!

I can see nothing, so cannot fix my typos. Sorry!!! I love you all!!!!!!!!!! huj shoud be huh (hope I typed that right) And, there is no "i" in strange. Ok, I'm done!

ETA... hey, if I hit "edit" after posting, I can see my words and can fix things. I can live with that for now.

Personally, I think the whole "questions for the special" thing is getting a bit ridiculous...I mean common sense people!

I called TicketMonster and found that as long as the person who has been given a ticket has the actual ticket/printout, it's fine. It only becomes a problem if the person is picking up the ticket at the venue. The she has to have the credit card which was used to buy the ticket.

Makes sense.

jamar, you weren't in Winston-Salem yesterday were you? I was in back of a car that had the license plate "JAMAR" on it.I think it was a NC license plate. :clay:

Oh don't I wish :cryingwlaughter:

Sadly I was in bitter cold Nebraska.

I actually picked my name from an old game we used to play when we were kids. Combination of the first letters of my 1st and middle name. But I was using it on a sports board waaaay back in the day when the internet was still young and I liked the fact that it also doubled as a young man's name.

OK, some things I think I've learned in the past half hour, playing with the new board settings.

1) In the personal messenger, it now automatically keeps a copy of your sent message in your "My Conversations" folder. No more remembering to check that little box to keep a copy!

2) I like the search function. A LOT. It automatically gives a preview snippet of the post with the word you searched, so you can quickly scan and see if the post is the one you want. If you want to go to that post, there's a little curved arrow in front of the selection, and that will take you to the post in question.

3) Will we still have couchie yelling at us to "View New Posts?" Heck, I never used it anyway. I always just paid attention to the color of the boxes in front of the posts, and that is still true. (If you want to clear all your posts away as read, it's at the very, very, very bottom of the screen; then, the next time, the color of the box in front of the post will be darker than the rest). I hope this one makes sense...

I like that, duckyvee, the board got a make-over!! Looks good! Thanks to all involved for effort and time. It seems there's always lots of that when something like this is done.

Well I should just act like this was a long hard process but all I did was email tech support and say...can you upgrade the board. And then they did it in like an hour LOL.

FCA main on the other hand..that will take work.

THANK GOD for PMs being automatically saved. That was horrible.

I will not comment on the questions I will not comment on the questions I will not comment on the questions.

Hope I did this right! New look to the board has me even more confuzzled than usual! I can't see any colors unless it's an emoticon or an actual picture. It's been like this since we got this new computer (which came from my husband's office - he didn't need it for the business any longer). I've tried every setting I can think of and still can't get the board to look like it used to - color-wise. It's fine on my work computer but this one is weird. Every board I read is "plain"... Beats the hell out of me. I was getting used to it - not as fun to read with evreything basically black and white - so I'll get used to this after a bit too.

This is totally OT but tonight I and a bunch of bunco ladies went downtown to see the touring company do Grease. Taylor Hicks played the Teen Angel. Ace Young was supposed to be Danny, but he was absent for some reason. If they expected TH to be a draw they were wrong! The National Theatre wasn't full at all! <snip>

Back to Grease, I would have liked to see Ace play Danny, but he is not being promoted at all - TH is being billed as the big star. He did a song at the end of the show from his new album, and had ushers hawking it when we left the theatre. He was in the lobby signing autographs and posing for pictures. But we didn't stop. Taylor was good as Teen Angel, but anyone who has seen the show knows it's only one song in the whole play! Anyhow just wanted to vent a little, I'll stop rambling now!!

I'm going to see this on Sunday, the 28th - it will be in Wisconsin... I've actually got decent seats - first row, dead center in the balcony. Managed to snag them in a pre-sale (cheap too - $25 each (before TM charges...)) I hope Ace is there too as I was looking forward to seeing him... I wasn't a big fan during Idol but he's a name/face I recognize. Don't really care about/for Taylor (oops!)... it will be interesting to see what kind of attendance there is here... Thanks for the info!
