See, at first this was all I saw. And it was pretty exciting news, I'll tell ya!

Clay will never sing "C'mon baby light my fire" in concert. He knows that would be an invitation to riot. Talk about a bloodbath!

Ohhh, but I can hear those words being sung/growled out of his gorgeous mouth and it sounds purdy. Lordie! :hubbahubba:

Our annual company picnic was this evening and I was one of the committee members so Claying was delayed until v.v. late today! What a great day y'all had! Wonderful reading.

I'm pooped!! It was a very successful event and I think a good time was had by all (the picnic).

Hi. My name is Claygasm and I am a Clayaholic. I did see "Take" - but he didn't have me. I was amazed at that voice but thought he was beyond nerdy and, well, ugly. (As you will all find out, I tend to swim in the shallow end of the pool.....). In the top 32 I was rooting for Kim and Ruben, although I liked Clay's voice and he had gotten a teeny bit better looking. On wildcard night his cheekbones could have cut glass!! And oh yeah, he sang purdy too! DLTSGDOM made me sit up and take notice! I watched the season and loved it but my favoites were always Kim, Ruben and Clay. I wanted them in the top 3 and they were. I then wanted the top 2 to be Clay and Ruben - and they were. And then.... Well, I wanted Clay to win, but wasn't that upset when he didn't. I never thought it was a consipracy. I never thought it was fixed. I never thought TPTB at AI were plotting against him. I got in A LOT of votes for Clay that night so I just figured Ruben won! Still do. But I knew that was not the last time we would see Clay.

I wasn't on any board during AI. The only boards I ever followed were X-files boards and one for the show "The Practice". During the summer after AI2 I wanted to see what Clay was up to. I was most definitely a closet fan. I bught his single from Amazon because I didn't want to walk in a store and buy it. Online I could find out what he was up to anonymously. I have no clue what boards I purused. I think it was in September I started posting at one. I don't remember what board it was but I know it was an ezboard. Didn't have a good experience there. They were discussing the leaked songs and there was a thread about IWCY where the accepted truth was it was a song about Jesus. I found that asusmption a bit much and, as is my style, had to say something. I was respectful and just posted that is not how I interpreted it. Well, I was lambasted - literally called the anti-christ and the devil and for the first time of what would be many told I was not a true fan of Clay's. See that board told me if I wasn't Christian I couldn't be a TRUE Clay fan.

So I left, but not before I had my say.....

The next board I posted on was Claymaniacs. I don't even know how I found it, but it was in early October of 2003. For a long time (at least in terms of this fandom....), this was my home. It was fun and there was even a nice, smutty thread! There I met a lot of great people, some of which I still call my friends. Perhaps most notable among them was this woman from the bay area of CA who I found myself agreeing with A LOT and who also spoke her mind and could smut with such ease I was in awe. That was, of course, muskifest (although she had a different name there - as did I).

But as time went on I realized I was fitting in less and less. Almost from the beginning, some over there didn't like my outspoken nature, and eventually some didn't even like us to smut! Our smutty thread became a battleground between angel wingers and us. Then came the NAT and YWT. I listened to the cellcert of the first concert and after YWT I commented on the cellcert thread that I didn't think such a blatently religious song belonged in a pop concert (and still don't). It was just my opinion and it was discussed civilly in the cellcert thread and we moved on. A few days later a thread was started that took a portion of my post anonymously and proceeded to attack me - without naming me. It was a cruel, vicious thread and the so-called Christians who posted in it then ran off to their home thread and congratulated each other for attacking the heathen! I had made plans to go to the Greensboro concert (among others) and almost didn't because of that thread. It almost destroyed my fandom. And while I stayed at CM for awhile longer, it was never the same. I posted less and less, although I never stopped speaking my mind.

By the summer of 2005, more and more of the people I enjoyed had left. Muski was not posting instead posting at EAYOR over at RHT. I joined there on a read only basis to read her porn stories. I had to choose a name and didn't want my old one and since I was reading muski's stories.... Well, for some reason the name "Claygasm" just popped in my head! I never thought I would actually post with it! Well, knowing I was increasingly unhappy at CM and because she's a sweetheart of a person, muski gifted me a membership there so I ended up posting as Claygasm and the name kind of grew on me. Over the next year I posted both there and CM, but less and less at CM. During the crap of 2006, there didn't seem to be any place fun left in the fandom. but I still stayed mostly at EAYOR despite the daily angst. I stopped posting at CM over a year ago and found myself posting very little at EAYOR. There always seemed to be such drama there! Oy! I mentioned to muski that I felt like there was no place fun left and she said I should come by FCA. She said it was the kind of place you could just drop by, post and leave and come back a week later and pick up again. So in September of 2006, right before Kimmel, I posted here for the first time. Gradually there seemed to be a little more activity here and you know what? It was FUN activity! Gradually the board picked up a little steam and for the first time since the early days at CM I knew I had found a home.

I still post once in awhile at EAYOR. I only posted at the OFC in that old album thread (but not under this name, but rather my original name), but not since. I read at the CH but have never really wanted to join and, in fact, have never submitted my name for consideration. But in the last year FCA has been my home.

This is where being a Clay fan has become fun again. This saved my online fandom. We have listening parties and rapid fire discussion parties and we have lots and lots of drinking emotions. :drink: :trink3: :trink4: :bier: We do have serious discussions and we don't always agree, but we do always treat each other with respect and we don't beat any horses dead! I wouldn't stand for that! I'm a vegetarian!

And we LOVE Clay Aiken!! :wub:

This year I have been lucky enough to meet many of the FCAers in person. I was HONORED and HUMBLED to meet and be driven by and party with the eHP in Texas! I did the CA4-fer with couchie and ansa and, for the last 2, my dear friend muski. Along the way I met my twin, YSRN, the wonderful JennaZ and all too briefly my fellow TOA lover jamar and others but my brain isn't functioning at full capacity right now so forgive me if I didn't mention you! And again there was the eHP! We even spent an afternoon at a winery with KAndre laughing our brains out! Playbiller and I shadowed each other at several concerts including Philly and Newark. And there was again the eHP. And then there was the eHP in Florida too. (I think I am detecting a pattern here....)

ANYWAY, I guess what this tome boils down to is this. I've tried the other boards. I have friends from the other boards. But to me, FCA is the BEST board in the entire Clay fandom. I think I may have been one of the first to officially call it my home board, and not a secondary board. And, I am PROUD to say that.

Its put the fun back into being a Clay fan again. And if being a Clay fan isn't fun, why bother!

Now, to wake you all up since this post has undoubtably has put you to sleep............

Have there ever been this many new members at once? It was quite a surprise to log on around eleven tonight and find several pages had been added. I'm like, "What happened? Did Clay blog? Are there tickets on sale?" And it was just y'all smutting. How refreshing!

The trip down memory lane has been a blast. One of the things I like about FCA is that people here come from a lot of different boards, long-term posters who've been around a long time. Some of you I "know" but have never gotten a chance to get to know, and I'm looking forward to posting with y'all in the future.

I have never lost sight of how absurd I think this whole thing is.......I love it because it is just that. I don't want it to make sense. I don't care if anyone in my family understands me or gets it. I want to be the crazy old aunt someday. The one everyone talks about because there's something worth talking about. Haven't we got the best stories?
